Hey girlfriends, I'm Bianca, Rene and you're watching beyond grenade today and today I am going to show you how to get rid of those hard crunchy curls, I mean, let's be honest, it happens. Sometimes you put too much gel, sometimes use a product that just makes your hair really hard and crunchy. But if I'm being completely honest, I actually like the crunch. I know it might be kind of weird to you guys, but I mean definitely comment below. If you can relate to this, I prefer using a gel first of all or any product that will give me a little bit of crunch or hardness, because that tells me that this is going to make my curls last all throughout the week. You should not be washing your hair everyday. You should just be refreshing in order to have a good refresh day, you have to start with a really good foundation and the foundation is that hard, crunchy curl? Now, if you like your curls to be super soft fluffy, that's fine, but I know for me somebody was very fine hair. My hair is just gon na look really flat and in order for me to get this volume, I need a little bit of hold to keep everybody up and lasting throughout the week. So in this video I'm going to show you how easy it is to fix this problem, so we're gon na go from these flat, hard, boring, crunchy curls to this big volumize soft defined curls. But before I do this, I need to make sure that we're committed in this relationship. We need to take it to the next level. So I need you to follow me on Twitter, Instagram and snapchat at miss Bianca Renae. I am so close to 200,000 subscribers and very close to 50k on Instagram and as soon as I get there, we're doing a giveaway so make sure you're following me here on YouTube and Instagram push that little bell. So you're notified as soon as I give away goes, live now back to our regularly scheduled programming. So right now I currently have my favorite gel in my hair, which is the dippity-do girls with curls jelly. I'Ve talked about this gel several times. I think it's safe to say that it's my favorite, it literally costs $ 4.99 at t.j.maxx. I know super random. This is like a really old-school brand actually, like I guess. Our moms and grandmas actually use this stuff, but it works so well for my hair, you can tell when a curl is hard when you can literally like lift it, and it stands straight up, but this means that this curl knows exactly what it wants. It'S gon na look like this, and it's going to hold this foundation all week. Long now, there's two different ways that you can make your hard curl soft again by using one of two things. The first thing you could use is a set of hands. You literally just crunch your curls and keep scrunching them and that'll break up the cast. So you could just keep going like this, and eventually your curls gon na get more volume and you're gon na get rid of all that crunch by just scrunching it away or you could use a diffuser. This is the diva dryer with the curl eco diffuser. I have been using this diffuser on my diva dryer lately because I feel like it's just faster. So this is what I use, especially on my refresh days, so I'm gon na show you how to use both at the same time mean I'm going to use my diffuser and use my hands to scrunch, and my curls are gon na look fabulous at the end Of this and I'll prove to you that the crunch is actually a good thing, so does currently 325 and I'll show you exactly how long it takes me to diffuse and time only diffused for five minutes. Many of you guys asked me if defusing is allowed on the no heat challenge, and it is because I'm using a low fan, speed, low heat and only for five minutes. That'S part of the reason why I do wait for my hair to air dry about 85 % cuz. Then I can get the job done really quickly. So now look at my curls now they are no longer crunchy. I'M able to get some more volume. I have beautiful definition and my diffuser didn't make my hair frizzy because of that hold I would not feel comfortable using my diffuser if my curls were one wet or just like super mushy and almost too soft, because I know that that soft curl can easily be Blown away and create frizz where, if it has a little bit of crunch to it, that diffuser is not going to mess up the curl pattern. So now I'm gon na shake this out a little bit more show you guys my final steps. How I get that final look, I do have bangs, so I have to shake them to the front and if it's a good day, they'll just act right. If you find any more crunch, you could just keep scrunching until you reach your current desired level of softness. Look at that guys. Look at it! Look at that definition. Of course, I'm not satisfied with my volume level, so I am gon na grab my pick and we're going to make this even bigger. This is the final results and guess what this is actually my day for hair I've not washed my hair in four days, and it looks this fabulous another way. You can make sure that your curls don't get hard is by using a leave-in. First, let's use any type of gel and it just makes your hair like hard as a rock use, a leave-in first and then apply the gel that'll soften out the gel miss. But, as some of you may know, I don't really use leave-in conditioners because it takes away from that crunch that I secretly desire, but to each his own. Try it do what works for you and once you do, I want you to come back and leave me a comment and let me know how it worked to use a leave-in before your gel. Do you scrunch away the cast? Do you use your diffuser leave all your tips and tricks' down below as well? I would love to know, and if you learned a thing or two from this video or just enjoyed it or me in general, make sure you give me a thumbs up and subscribe. I post to new videos every week once on Friday and once on Sunday and we have to stay girlfriends you've got to follow me on Twitter, Instagram and snapchat at ms beyond grenade. I hope to see you guys next time, thanks for watching biank renee today,

Courtney Earley: I completely agree about liking the crunch. The crunch tells me it will hold my curls and prevent frizz later on. If a product gives me NO crunch, I know it won’t hold up..

Bianca Schreiber: I used to think crunch was a bad thing! Thank you for showing that it isn’t!!

Angela Brooks: I’ve been having really bad hair days lately I watched this video and a few others yesterday and used the gel and diffused and girllllll!!! Yasss Thank you for hair-educating me

Hennessy Mediavilla: Omg!! I literally thought I was the only one who loves to have the crunch for my day 1 or 2 hair. I was too scared to say it to curly girls cause I thought they would find my crazy! Ever since you first talked about the Dippity- Do Girls With Curls Gelee in your old video, I literally bought it and love it so much. It gives me the crunch and hold I need just like you feel! Great video

The Glam Belle: Love this!! You’ve inspired me to try JUST a gel. I usually do a cream and a gel but I think I’ll give it a try and see what the results are!

Livi Smith: Leave ins are not moisturizing enough for me, I use a curl cream, an oil on top (my fave is coconut) and then the gel. A lot of people use oil after to scrunch out crunch, but I find that gels strip me of the moisture my cream provides, so putting an oil under the gel kinda locks in my cream and protects my hair from the dryness of gel

Namyah C: I LOVE LEARNING MORE ABOUT CURLY HAIRRR UGHHH

Miral: I tried a gel cast for the first time today. I really love the way it made my hair, Ive never seen it this way before. There was absolutely NO frizz. Also, it clumped my curls perfectly, it doesn’t look stringy at all. I used a Garnier Fructis gel that held my hair pretty well. I kind of enjoy the crunch too, this gel gave me good hold without excessive crunch. I am about to “scrunch the crunch” (get rid of the gel cast). I’m so pleased!!

Naturally A: Your curls always look amazing ‼️ it makes me jealous. I’ve been watching your channel for a while now you inspired me to take care of my curls more and not use heat. Your channel teaches people so much. I think all of us curlyheads to definitely be subscribed and watching your videos thanks for doing what you do ❤️

Gabe Armstrong: Ive been watching your videos non stop all week I just barely for the first time in my life realized that if I want my curly hair to stop being so frizzy I have to start treating it like curly hair, all these videos have been such a huge help and my hair already looks the best it ever has after only a week!

Maddy Shevchuk: I just tried the refresh/diffuse trick today and I love love love my results! You are the curly queen lady! Love you and your advice!

Linzie Rosa: Thanks for the tips! I just recently started diffusing my hair and I do like to scrunch it out, so this combination is perfect. I used a tadddd too much gel yesterday, and then today I used a curling cream that was just really thick and the crunch just came back It was veryyyyy crunchy, but this fixed it!

Amanda Pearl: Before I started taking better care of my hair, I never knew to scrunch out the crunch! I always hated that crunchy feeling but wanted good definition. Thanks Bianca for showing that you can have defined and soft curls!! :)

Jose Garcia: First comment!!! I completely agree with that, I prefer to have crunchy curls so it’ll last longer and I usually use a leave in or cream before applying the gel so my hair can get that extra moisture. Your hair turned out fABUlous fab

Kimberly Giebler: Thank you! I’m just learning curl care and I was struggling with this!

Leah Rosa: Thank you so much Bianca for this video. I always put my leave in before my gel but then my hair always finds a way to get frizzy and I lose my definition. I think I am just going to see what results I get when I just use gel. Thank you for curly tips- they help so much!!

Mrs. Butterfly: First and foremost, your hair is AMAZING! I love the shape, too. For me, I am not all that crazy about crunchy curls, which is why I have stayed away from gel. However, I've recently started experimenting with gels for definition. My 4A ringlets are always thirsty for moisture so I do use a leave-in and/or cream before my gel. Thanks so much for sharing. I love any tips that I can find. I always enjoy your videos, Curlfriend.

Frances Keller: Ps: I’m in love with your curls!! ❤️❤️❤️

Kaila Unique: Wow! This just taught me a lot. I’ve never added gel to my routine, so the diffuser would just blow my curls straight to frizz. Now I’m going to incorporate the gel & see the difference.

Angelique Rosa: I’ve become obsessed with this gel thanks to you! I buy it every time I see it at TJ maxx or Marshall’s haha I am not a gel person but mannnnn does this stuff work! Tried the diffuser trick after you mentioned it on IG (I think) and I have since stopped mixing it with my curl cream which is what I used to do to get some softness.

Aisha Aparicio: I love the crunchy look but loved your tutorial on how to get more volume with crunchy hair....thank you!!

Kelly Manana: Wow. I just learned so much that I've been doing wrong for 2 years straight I think I finally just found out how I can fix all the frizz my hair goes through on wash days! I'll try air drying instead of diffusing on wet hair and I'll try using a stronger gel and crunch after. ❤ THANK YOUU!!

AmaziahJ: I love “the crunch” too Bianca but my gel holds all week and my curls are perfected ‼️

Vicki Jones: Very very interesting!! Thank you so much for this tip! Eco styling gel made my curls so hard, so much that it was extremely hard to comb out, plus, it caused a lot of breakage. But looking at this method and seeing how BEAUTIFUL your curls turned out, I may try it again! Thanks doll!

Chuelsia Carvalho: Yes! I totally agree. My favorite styler is the Cantu Curl Activator cream, I use it by itself and then I crunch out the caste with biotin oil from ogx (my fave oil) and my curls last really well until my next wash day. Thanks for the diffuser tip, I’ll have to try it next time !

Julia: I love crunch as well! Although because of my high porosity hair I almost always have to use a cream or leave in before a gel but recently I've been using only cantu's curl activator cream! It has a crunch and its moisturizing! It's a must have, I tried it thanks to you Bianc!

GlamTam: love it! I’m a scrunch the crunch girl ‍♀️➿ definitely going to dry a diffuser though next time!

Sammy-Chan: This really helped me!! Used to get so annoyed at the crunch, and now I want there to be a crunch :)

Secretbohemian: I am here to years later, but om my goodness. Thank you for this. I am clueless when it comes to my curls and thought I couldn't touch it this much after I was done with styling it so it always looked a bit... sticky! But I tried this now and I HAVE SO MANY PRETTY CURLS! Literally in tears! Thank you!

Beckah Cruz: I've been doing the curly girl method for over one month now! I experiment with different stylers/ combinations of stylers after each wash and I 100% agree that without the crunch factor my curls are too soft and can get flattened out in as little as one or two days. But! With some crunch that I soften with my hands my curls can last five days, at least!

Cerise Meloncon: I love that you made this video! Lol I was talking to my sister and my hair stylist last weekend about this and they both didn't know what I was talking about, but now I know I'm not alone

Jimaie Shelton: Yessss, I too love the crunch I need to find and try this gel!

Tina Billingsley: Great tips! Loved this video. ☺️ thank you!

Shal Perk: Omg now I know how to defuse my hair!!!!! Wait till it’s 85% dry for no frizz. You are so awesome thank you!!!!!!! No more wet roots lol

R A: I love the crunch too...it makes my hair last so much longer

Rochelle Holmes: You helped me with my fine curly hair. I was afraid of mousse but I tried it and you're right CURLS FINALLY and NOT frizz. I crushed my curls like you suggested and it worked. Thank you!!!

FallnAngel07: I love the crunch. It makes my curls look PERFECT.

Ramaya Stowell: I just got me one of those silicone diffusers and it makes all the difference! I'm going to look around for that gel cause I've just been using mizani's true textures curls.coils.waves jelly and I feel I need to look beyond just that :)

Sophia Peil: Totally agree with you! Crunch is the secret to a good hair day:)

Jose Contreras: You are the best! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and encourage all of us to share. I love to read the comments since I learn from your subscribers as well. My hair does best when I put some leave in (as long as it is just a little)

Gladys Lopez: I wish my hair would make it to day 4 looking like this! By day 4, my hair is ready for another wash lol

Stormy Vaughn: Love this video super helpful I’ve been waiting for someone to post a video like this I like that you explain every thing in detail it’s really helpful Thank you

A Viewer: Gorgeous girl, gorgeous hair! Thanks for the tips! New sub:)

JayMarie Tavarez: I’m so glad that you made this video ❤️

Lady Zebiba: Life saver!! Couldn’t figure it out for my first day hair I work in an elementary/middle school, and the kids got soooo much joy from the “Ramen Noodle” curls Thanks so much ❤️❤️

Ethereal Resound: HAHA! I love a good crunchy curl too. My hair is wavy so the crunchier the better. Thumbs up!!

Sinndy Morr: I have a looser curl pattern and I am high porosity. I absolutely must cowash every 2-3 days. Moisture leaves my hair quickly :(. I use Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie instead of gel because my hair craves the moisture and needs it or I loose definition. High Porosity Hair is naughty!

M James: I love the crunch too for the same reason. It allows me to keep my wash and go longer. I don't scrunch my crunch out I just keep it because as the days go by it softens.

Mélissa A: I apply some Curl Enhancing Smoothie to my hair before I apply my gel :) The CES defines my curl and the gel holds it !

NikkiB: It's not weird, I LOVE the crunch too! I completely agree, that is my reason too. I know that I got some good curls when it's crunchy. Because in two days it's gonna really be THE BOMB!

Lekita Fayers: Thank you for sharing these methods. A method I am using that works for my 3c/4a hair is steaming my hair, while I scrunch my hair but making sure I have an oil on my hands to avoid frizz. So just have the steamer our (I use a small clothing steamer that stands up right ), I don't stand too close to the steam while I scrunch them curls.

Paige Ford: I completely agree with you! I love the crunch!

Caralee Hyatt: This is awesome!! Thank you!! I am going to try just putting a gel in my hair to see how it goes!! Following!!!

Staci White: What an amazing trick!! I agree the crunch is good, but it keeps my hair in a funky state of looking like I I chopped all my hair off .

Kyle Alvarez: I really appreciate you staying up to edit after watching Beychella! Love the video and I'm definitely gonna try this tip.❤❤

Alyssa Zak: I love how this video will help with diffusing too! Awesome tips :)

Michelle Rivera: YESSSSSSSS CRUNCHY CURL GIRL HERE!!!❤️❤️❤️ i love gel. I’m so heavy handed with gel!!

Merlin Girlin: I completely agree with you about the crunchy curls. I love it also and it gives me the most defined curls that last

EmpressG 555: Hey Mz. B! Loved the video and today’s chill vibe music ! I use a leave in conditioner before my gel and do a lot of scrunching and shaking of my curls to release the cast and get my volume. I rarely use my diffuser but would love to try the one you used in this video! Where do I get one (I already have the Deva dryer and diffuser)? I also just got some fringe so learning how to style those! Maybe do a video on how to style, etc bangs??? Thanks as always!!!

Myam: Im still in hair rehab at the moment and when i try to crunch it again or use the diffuser it instantly goes SUPER frizzy, my hair needs help

Brittany Brinkley: Always a leave in first, then usually a styler that gives me hold. I haven’t used gels much but with summer coming I’ll be starting to.

Jazmine Jackson: I can use a leaving and a gel and my hair still gets hard but I love it!!

Cree James: I needed this! I started using gel but I missed volume and will try your ways! And I do leave in or a cream before my gel just because I have dry hair

Rae: Yeyyyyyy wow Bianca do you read minds? I just got my very first styler and im still learning how to use it, so your video really helped me to get through the mistake of hard curls ;)

Elizabeth Kelly: I love the crunch as well. I’ll be honest though I don’t refresh... I pineapple and my hair will last until day 3 at least! Great tip for diffusing I don’t b/c it makes my curls frizzy. Love you and your hair.

Jacob Jackson: thank you so much this technique made my curls way more soft and define

Shanelle Warner: I'm about to share this channel to everybody I know cause I'm ready for this giveaway . And the curls where poppin like always .

Yoirys: Omg this video helped me so much my curl are always so soft but they don’t last me till day 2 and I have to work extra when I refresh and I’m so happy I follow you because I would be a complete mess without you

Dolca C: Found it! I paid $11.99 on Amazon for the gel. :'( Really love this gel now! Thanks for the tip. For me works just to wait until the next day.

Tres Boujay: Yay! I don’t use leave in either!!!! I love that gel cast too! It’s really a good friend.

Kimberly Lowe: Loove this video! As a mixed kid growing up in Sweden it’s only now I’m learning how to care for my curls! Could you make a video about getting bangs and how you part your hair? Thanks for all the inspiration! ➿

technojunkie123: Wow! I just tried out this new curl cream and I was so disappointed because it left my hair all hard and crispy, even though I knew it had good results the first time I used it when I borrowed it at a friend's place - I found your video to try and solve this problem and it worked! I can't believe how to defined, yet light & bouncy, my hair has become just through scrunching it while it dry. Thank you!

xfortunesquex: I prefer a crunch, too! If a gel doesn't create crunch, it doesn't hold my hair. It's the difference between 2b/3a or ending up with mostly 2a by the end of the week. ETA: My method is- Shea Moisture Silicone Free Miracle leave in, followed by home made flax gel (1c water, 1/4c flax seed, boiled until goopy, strained, and put in a jar, mix in ~1tsp epsom salts for curl encouragement and a few drops rosemary oil to preserve), followed by Jessicurl Spiralicious styling gel. I plop for 3-4 hours in my HairRepear towel, then air dry and sleep in the crunch. I don't pineapple (they fall out) and just let my hair go wild all over my satin pillowcase. I'm a 2b with a few sections of 3a, and a tiny bit of 2a. My hair is waist length, low density, low porosity afaik, and fine.

Nicole Lene Garcia: I have 2-3 type hair and I loveee the crunch, but I usually use a leave in, and gel and when it's fully dry and crunchy I scrunch away all over and my hair gets volume and gets so soft, shiny and defined

Wil_911 WillyBigCurls: Can’t wait till it’s warm out again and I can let my curls breathe and try this awesome tip #BEYCHELLA SLAYED MY WHOLE LIFE

Kris McKee: I love this. How wet was your hair when you started? And what was your refresh routine? Did you put gel in on refresh day, or on wash day (4 days ago)?

Jewel Brock: Omg you're so beautiful ❤️ I wish I could control my hair like that!!!

Sæsh: Thank the lord for your videos. I know I'm two years late but that shit don't matter cause you've saved my frizzy ass hair. I would always diffuse my hair before a cast and would get so confused as to why the hell my hair would get frizzy.

Denisse Cabrera: Firstly, I want to mention that you are literally my curly hair mentor and like almost every video (soon to be EVERY video) lol. Secondly, I hear that oil also takes the crunch a bit away and also used it as well. Have not thought about diffuser thou . Thanks again MzBianca ❤️❤️❤️

Briala B: I have wavy hair so crunchy gel is my best friend when it comes to encouraging my hair to be as curly as possible. I just put put a little argan oil on my hands when it's time to scrunch out the crunch and I get bouncy, frizz free curls and waves.

Vivien Kurucz: Works just as good with my 3A hair as well

A Curly Engineer: I need to find that gel. My mom always told me how good it was, back in the day!

Frances Keller: I use olive oil and a diffuser! Thank you for this!!!

Nitika: I totally agree !! I love the crunch

Gloria Jean: Wow, your hair is so beautiful and has such a sassy and happy look.

Esmeralda Vasquez: I use a little bit of the deva curl one condition as a leave in and then use their ultra defining gel. BUT, until recently I’ve felt that my hair has been way too soft and fluffy after using these. I don’t like so much crunch, but some wouldn’t hurt. I think I’m gonna try the gel without the one condition next time thanks for this!!

living large on a small budget: I loved this video but sadly I have straight hair. Now I guess it is time for a perm!!! Lol Keep up the good work ☺

Tracy M: I love when you teach me how to handle this mane ! #SnapFam

Lisa Pellegrino: I agree I like a little crunch. No big deal to scrunch the crunch out with an oil

C Gonzo: I use a cream and a mousse, no diffuser, love the crunch!

Daniel Johnson: Love the fix and the bouncy curls #snapfam ❤️on the wallpaper

Azelia Hinton: You have the most perfect curls ever!!!!!!!

Joyce Lima: I like the cast too!! I don’t like diffusing so usually I just wait and air dry. By the next day I have pretty good volume

v3lvetf4ir: I just started getting on the bandwagon of using gel. I have one of the gel products from Shea Moisture. It's all about trial and error for me until I find the right combination and the right products that will work for my low porosity hair.

Ko'lana Kurls: I prefer the crunch too! that way they last. I have some 4a hair at the crown of my head and those coils NEED crunch to last. the rest of my hair is in the 3C range so I'm not as worried about crunch there. thanks for your honesty -- crunchy curls have their place!

ohitsmelissa: beautiful, and i just love the color of your hair, thats my dream color, i don't own a diffuser, i need to get one and learn to use it from the tips you've shown us!

Chloe Lucas: Totally was doing the pursuit of happiness while watching this video.

Yvette Quinones: For years I have used the biosilk hair oil to not only soften the crunch but also make my hair smell yummy. Thanks for the video

Monica Ornelas: Same I like crunch in my hair! I have a lot of thick hair and let it air dry and scrunch with my hands and it does last way longer this way! Also can we get a refresh video with details, like what type of products to use on what days???

Annia Carvajal: What styling cream do you feel pairs well with this gel ?
