For every section of hair, I used 4 strands. 2 for the braid and 2 for the wrap. I used 8 packs of the Sensationnel Soft N Silky Afro Natural Colour 1 (jet black) NOT 1B. The link just shows you what the pack looks like but please order the color of your choice.

You can use less or more, it all depends on how big or small your sections are

More tips:

- You don't have to braid the hair first, you can also 2 strand twist before you wrap.

- To make it even less heavy, you can use 1 single strand of the Afro braiding hair rather than 2 as I've used in the tutorial.

- To make it cheaper, you can use regular braiding hair for the braids/twist instead of the Afro braiding hair. But use the Afro braiding hair for the wrap

It'S okay good for those of you who are new to my channel welcome. So this is a minute tutorial on how I achieved my dreadlocks. I mean it's, it's not a full tutorial because my hair is done already, but I got a lot of complement and some people on my Instagram wanted to know how I achieved my dreadlocks. So I have taken down one and the tutorial will basically show you how I did the rest of the hair okay. So let's get started. I'Ve taken out the front bit this. This is my hair. Come come come my hair. Is natural? I'Ve been natural for about three years. I don't know how long, but in the three years I've caught my hair constantly based on impulse based on fashion, but at the moment this is the length of my hair. So what I do is section a piece of hair. Then I take a spray bottle with water in it and you can add any conditioner that you like. I think I use the sheer moisture just a few squirts in LA and water in there. So I spray that on my hair comb comb and then I add my ciabatta mix, this is raw shea butter. With a few of my oils, I will have another video on how I made this, but I just think take a bit and put it in my hair. Then I started braiding. So the hair that I used to braid is called the soft and silky afro kinky braid, I'm going to put a link of the Browns weekend's. I think you can order it online. The hair comes sectioned already or Shea. It comes section already. So I nominee take two strands and then I stopped my braiding you. So when you get to the end, you might run out of a strand of hair of one of the sections. You can just grab another one and just continue all the way down all the way down. Okay, so we've gotten to the end of the braid. So now the second step is the wrapping. That'S what actually makes it look like like fours dreadlocks, so you grab one strand like another strand and then you start the wrap okay. So basically what you do is grab it at the end and then put it down. Try to hold a bit of it down to anchor it this that wrapping, try not to wrap it too tight. So you don't you don't have a saw scope, you, okay, so you've gotten to the end of the rap. Just try to hold it down, then grab another strand and then try to anchor it down, like you did at the top right, where the first one stops. I know you okay, so we've gotten to the end - and this is the most important bit in this hairstyle, because if you don't get the end right, it unravels. So this is how to do the end. So we've gotten to the end of the braid. What you do is you've been at the end upwards, bend it up this way and hold it. Then you still have the strand left from wrapping it, and then you start wrapping it all the way to the top again and that's why you get the ends blunt and not like sharp end as you would get in braids. So you start wrapping up again wrap wrap, wrap. I know me just to wrap it all the way until the strand finishes just wrap it all the way, all the way to the top. When you try to split the end and then keep wrapping and then just wrap it all the way, and then you take your lighter, try to burn it right at the end where it stopped and then rolled together, you can burn it all the way you can Run it in the bottom try to roll it really and boy that that's it guys. Okay, so that's it guys! All together. It took me eight hours to achieve the hairstyle, but it wasn't eight hours in one day and that's another tip for the hairstyle, because what I've done was. I spent four hours on one of the weekends braiding, the entire hair. So after I've done that, I rock that hairstyle for about a week and after that, that's when I've gone and wrapped all the hair again to achieve the dreadlocks. So if you don't have the time you don't have eight hours in a day, you could break the hair first and rock that hairstyle for sometime one week, two weeks and then the other weekend. You can now wrap it and achieve the dreadlocks. I'Ve got to carry the hair in for about two months yeah and I will clean my scalp or wash it if I need to, but I chose the hairstyle because there's not that much maintenance required and I'm in hospital a lot this day. So I really don't have the time to change my hairstyle, but that being said, I hope I don't get bored because I really get bored of hairstyles and I think the reason. Why is because I know how to my hair and I've always been at my hair myself. So if I get bored, it's just very easy for me to like take it down and do it back again, but um, I'm really hoping I don't get bored of the hairstyle. I also went ahead in different styles. I can't obviously go to the hospital looking so dramatic, looking like I'm there for, like a fashion show so sometimes I wear it down and just tie up in the back. It'S really versatile and it's beautiful. So I really hope this video helps, but those of you who've been wanting to do this and if you have any questions regarding the hairstyles, if I forgotten to mention a few things, please ask me: I know when I wanted to do this. I had a lot of questions and I was really confused, so I probably would just go back step by step to let you know that the hair that I've used again is the soft and silky African cube right here in the stores in Ireland it cost 10 Euros a pack - and I think that is ridiculously expensive, so I've decided to the next time to order it online. You can find it at Amazon for about half the price. I don't know make sure your hands dip condition before you do that, because it can really dry up your hair. What else I will make another video on how I maintain the hairstyle like what I spray off my hair, how I wrap it up to sleep, not gon na do that now, because the video is gon na be really really long. What else yeah the hair is? Really it gets really heavy and really thick at first, but after a few days it would relax one more thing to avoid the thickness or the eight is like I mentioned earlier, to break the hair and then carry the braids for about two weeks. That way, you've gotten used to the hairstyle before you wrap it. I think that's a guys! Thank you. So much for watching bye,

Flo Chinyere: Lovely! It suits you so well. Great tutorial. :)

I agree with a previous comment, that is a beautiful rock! lol

eyeadreamer89: Great job, the locs turned out gorgeous! I've been wanting to try loc extensions for a while.  My concern is how long they actually hold up as far as getting frizzy, unravelling etc.  However, I do still plan to try it, but will wait to see your updates and how the hair is actually holding up.  Thanks and I look forward to the updates.

Phyllis Calixte: Great video Adanna!! You explained it so well! And it seems easy enough to attempt on my own. And I love that you kept the explanations short and sweet and gave us few tips on the specs of the hair and style. I love watching you and your videos! Thank you for this!!!

shyah1973: Great job! This hairstyle looks stunning on you :)

Snow Blossom: Your hair is beautiful! I really love the faux lock style. A cheaper alternative would be yarn braids. You can braid and wrap the yarn to achieve the same style. I braid my own hair too and I love yarn braids because the yarn is very cheap and I can cut it to whatever length I want. I haven't tried wrapping my yarn braids yet, but people still think I have locks!
