How To Create A Mermaid Heart Braid | 2019 Valentine’S Day Hairstyles
I hope you guys are ready for another DARLING hairstyle tutorial that’s perfect for #Valentine’sDay! Heart hairstyles are seriously some of my favorite looks to create. They’re so easy, and they look so cool! What do you think of Kilee’s beautiful, blonde hair??
I love this time of year, because I get to play with so many different #heart hairdos. You guys have to trust me when I say they look SO much more difficult to create than they actually are! In addition to being easy to create, they are also very versatile. I would create this style on any of my kids (ages 7-19), or even myself. Anyone can pull off this look! ❤️
Step 1: Step 1: Pull the hair up into an elastic (start about an inch above the ear), and wrap hair around the elastic to hide it.
Step 2: Thread a topsy tail upside down, and pull the ponytail through it. (You can use your hands, but the topsy tail makes it easier!)
Step 3: Flip the topsy tail, and pull the ponytail through (towards the ceiling).
Step 4: Divide the ponytail into 2 even sections.
Step 5: Starting on the right section, begin to stitch a normal, 3 strand braid. Create 3 stitches.
Step 6: Begin to pull small pieces from the front of her hair into the braid (only adding in to the right side). Do this 4 times.
Step 7: Continue a normal 3 strand braid down the ponytail.
Step 8: Repeat steps 5-7 on the left section of hair.
Step 9: As you get to the end of the left section braid, join the two braids together. Secure with an elastic.
Step 10: Fluff up the top of the braids to really accent the shape of the heart (only the top stitches).
Step 11: Secure the heart with a bobby pin to help it pop up even more!
Items Needed: Elastics, topsy tail & bobby pin (if desired)

♪ Wait a minute I just want to get to you. ♪ ♪ I've been trying for some time. ♪ ♪'Cause. I'Ve been waiting, ♪, Hey everyone, I'm Mindy McKnight from Cute Girls, Hairstyles, and I have Kylie again here with me.. If you guys haven't been here before Kylie's my niece and has graciously offered to, let me borrow her beautiful golden hair., So today, we're gon na show you how to do the flip Mermaid Heart Braid.. Now I love this one. You guys know. I love Valentine's heart. Hairdos anyway., If you want to check out all of our other heart hairstyles, you can click the button right up there and you can see all of them. So go check them out. And definitely give us a thumbs up. If you love Valentine's Day.. Alright, are you ready Yep., Let's do it. ( swish )? Okay, you guys. So this is how I started this hairstyle.. I pulled the top part of her hair back.. I left about an inch above her ears.. You can see that I left a couple. Little just soft face framing pieces, I pulled out and then in the back I secured it with an elastic and then wrapped it with hair.. Okay, so we're going to take a topsy tail and if you don't have one, that's fine cuz, you can just use your hands too., But you're, basically going to thread the topsy tail upside down and then we're going to put the hair through it. And again. If you don't have this, you just make a whole in the hair and flip it upside.. This is just a little easier way to do. It. It hurts a little less. I feel like. And you're just going to flip the hair. Okay, so we flipped it basically from down towards the ceiling, and this is why. Because when you tighten it down, what you want is that lift.. Do you see this natural like how, if I just divide it in half, it almost is just naturally sort of falling into the arches of the heart. And that's exactly what you want.. So at this point you want to divide the hair into two pieces evenly like this. And we're going to work with the right side first.. So I'm going to take this and I'm going to start a three strand braid. Now on this braid, I'm going to do three normal stitches before I add in any hair, and that's just to get that arch of the heart really together. Like. If you start adding in hair, it starts looking messy and it doesn't look like a heart anymore.. So make sure you do three stitches first.. So I'm going to do three strands., There's one stitch., Two three.! Okay! Now I'm going to reach over. Make sure I don't pull that hair., I'm going to grab a little piece and add it in like this. We're only adding in to this right side., I'm grabbing another little piece and I'm going to add it in.. This is where the mermaid part comes in, because this is kind of mermaid stitching right. You can leave hair out by the ear. If you want or you can pull it back up to you. Three.. Add it in. Make sure you don't pick up hairs, behind. And a last one four., And then I'm just going to go to a normal braid.. You can keep doing mermaid all the way down. If you want to. I just am not going to.. I just like on the sides and finish out with a normal braid. And then secure with an elastic.. Now we're going to move on to the left side and we're basically going to repeat the same steps but on this left side.. So three sections of hair for a normal braid. Do three stitches before you add in. And again we're just going to add in four little sections. And then finish it off with a normal braid.. When you get down to the end of the normal braid you're going to combine the two ends, so I'm going to remove this elastic from this side and I'm going to secure them together, instead. So right here, I'm just eyeballing this and making sure it looks like It'S kind of even on both sides. I'm going to secure it. Okay. So this look good to me, but I think that the heart right here isn't accented enough for my taste. So what I like to do is just go back and really give these three edges a nice good little tug like this.. I don't pull it through here, because then it looks too messy.. So it's just the top stitching where you didn't have hair, adding in., And I just feel like just tweaking that that much really accent the heart. And then the other thing you can do is take a little bobby, pin and just reach up and under and pin That down to her head to have the heart pop a little bit more., So I'm just taking that bobby, pin and laying it right, here. And then I feel like it just emphasizes the heart a little bit more. And then you go. ( swish ). Okay, let's do the final spin on this heart, mermaid hair.? Isn'T it cute? I love the way it turned out.. What do you think Kylie? I think it's cute.
