Where’s Barbie? - Nicki Minaj Gives Us The 411 On Her New Toned Down Look

Nicki Minaj has been sporting this toned down ‘new look’ lately and many of us are calling it toned down, refreshing and normal. But mostly we are wondering- what that’s all about? Well she did have something to say about it during an interview with MTV and we felt inclined to share:

It’s not a makeover, it’s coming full circle. I went so far to the other side that there’s only one place to go from there. You can either continue doing costumes or you can just say, ‘Hey guess what? This will shock them even more.

Doing nothing will shock them even more. Even when I did my Elle Magazine cover and got a new hairstylist, and was wearing more natural looking hair and toned down makeup, I was getting myself to this place where I was wearing my real hair out. I knew I was gonna do it, I wasn’t going to announce it to the world, but I knew it would happen […] and I think we’ve successfully done it.

Yep, suddenly looking normal is one way you can shock your audience. Trust me I am not trying to be sarcastic, she is right, we have gotten so used to the pink barbie crap stuff we are kind of amazed at how great she looks without all the colors, costumes and hoopla.

Granted I have a hunch at really what caused the turn around, feel free to share your own opinions. But I think its her new movie and trying to get more out of a career that would take you nowhere if you are constantly playing a cartoon character, we all have to grow up sometime right?

Anyway regardless of the reasons, we are loving the new natural-ish Nicki, the hair, the face, maybe not the boodie, but that’s ok, baby steps. We think she digs the new look too, considering the number of selfies that can flood your timeline at any one time from her Instagram account.
