It has been reported that Titi Branch Co-Founder of the Miss Jessie’s brand has died in an apparent suicide due to asphyxia on December 4th 2014. Titi was just 45 years old and was said to have suffered from mental illness.

When the news broke I really wanted to believe that it wasn’t true, the brand has been in our lives for most of us since we became natural as one of our first choices in hair care. Miss Jessie’s was named after the sisters grandmother and quickly rose to stardom as more of us started to embrace our hair.

Titi and her sister Miko were strong business women and led the charge for hair care lines that you now see on the shelves today. They were constantly teaching and showing us how natural hair can be beautiful and cared for, I know I learned a ton of stuff from their website and seminars.

Titi was the girl with the blonde hair that most of us just wanted to have, she was gorgeous and a great in person, we cannot imagine how sister and her family must be feeling with such a loss. News of her death spread through social media last night but there has been no official statement from the family, just tweets with her name in them as an ode to her I suppose.

We understand this is a private matter and can be very hard for people to talk about so we want to send our deepest condolences to the family for there loss. R.I.P Ms. Titi.

We want to just say that mental illness is real it knows no color and should not be take lightly. If you need help of know of someone who does you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

This has truly been a rough year.
