My Top 5 Edge Tamers For Natural Hair
So, ever since I went natural, I’ve been trying to find edge controls that actually control my edges! As a new natural, I wasn’t used to my edges not laying down, because with a relaxer, it didn’t take much, if anything, to lay my edges down.
However, after trial and error, and surveying my natural girlfriends, I’ve found that these 5 edge tamers work the best for my natural hair, and are staples in my cabinet!
1. Creme of Nature Perfect Edges
This edge tamer is infused with argon oil, which helps to not only smooth your edges, but moisturize and add a nice shine as well. I really like this edge tamer because it goes on clear, and doesn’t leave a white or colored residue! It also doesn’t harden when it dries.
2. Design Essential Honey and Shea Edge Tamer
I love this edge tamer! Not only does it have a firm hold, but it smells very yummy! It goes on clear, and out of all of the edge tamers on this list, lasts the longest.
3. Murray’s Edge Wax
You may remember the Murray’s brand by the small orange tubes of hair wax (or maybe that’s just me) But, I was excited to try out this edge wax, and was even more excited once I found out how well it works! It has a firm hold, however it can leave a bit of a white residue build up if not brushed in while applying, or if applying too much at a time.
4. Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste
This edge tamer was one of the first one’s I’ve tried, and it smells the best! It has a fruity smell, so it makes me want to apply a lot- but it comes in 4oz tubes, so I learned quickly that I should apply sparingly.
As far as hold, it doesn’t have a firm hold, unfortunately. This edge control would be good to use if you aren’t looking for a sleek look, but just a light smooth hold.
5. Let’s Jam
This one is a classic. I have had this product around my house ever since I was a little girl. It comes in variations, as far as firmness and hold strength, so depending on what type of hold you want to achieve, you can do it with this product. It also smells really good, too!
