My Top Four 2016 Hair Goals

I still can’t believe that 2015 is almost over! This was such a great year for me, hair-wise. In September I met my 1-year anniversary of being all natural, and it will also be the first full year of being all natural.

I never thought that I would make it this far, but I am so glad that I didn’t give up and revery back to relaxers. Now that 2016 is vastly approaching, I’ve jotted down a few new hair goals:

1. Get regular trims

I’m a bit ashamed to mention that in 2015 I probably only got my hair trimmed twice, which is no bueno! I should have been getting my hair trimmed at least every 6-8 weeks.

2. Try Color

I’ve been a color virgin my whole life, not just since I’ve been natural. I’ve experimented with color in a protective style, but never on my real hair. I am excited to see what I will look like with a splash of color, and also it will be an excuse to buy new hair products that are aimed specifically for color treated hair.

3. Try New Styles

A few months ago I mastered the wash n go, and that has been my go to style. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even try to do anything else with my natural hair, except wash n gos. In 2016 I want to try bantu knots, braid outs, flat twists, and a flexi rod* set.

4. Protective Style More Often

During the earlier part of my natural hair journey I religiously had a protective style in my hair. It was to the point where people didn’t know what my natural hair even looked like, and my friends would constantly ask me when would I wear it out.

I was on a mission to grow out my twa to a desired length, and I didn’t want to stop until I achieved that length. However, now I have a new hair length goal, so this upcoming year will be filled with a lot more protective styling.
