I Never Tell My Stylist I Do Not Like My Hair Style Even When I Am Not Satisfied

I’ve always been one of those people who doesn’t like to rock the boat, so to speak. So typically when something bothers me I tend to let it slide.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become a bit more vocal and have started to stand up for myself in most areas of my life, except one- when I’m at the salon.

I can recall countless times that I’ve gone into the salon with a particular style in mind, and come out with something totally different all because I was too nervous to speak up.

This may seem a tad bit silly, but it’s true. Most recently this happened when I went in for a crochet braid mambo twist appointment.

I did a ton of research on the style even before booking the appointment, so I already knew exactly how I wanted it to look, and the amount of hair needed to achieve the style.

I brought two extra packs of hair though, just in case. As I was sitting in the stylist’s chair, I showed her a picture of what I wanted my crochet braids to look like, and even made mention of how that model only used 5 packs of hair, and not 7, like my stylist said I would need.

Don’t get me wrong, I love big voluminous hair, but it’s not very functional in a professional environment or even just day to day activities around the house, not to mention based on reviews, I heard the hair can be really heavy! Fast forward to when my stylist finished my hair, and I looked in the mirror- I was speechless!

It was just too much hair on my head, and it was heavy! Somehow I managed to let her talk me into using all 7 packs, instead of the 5 that I planned to use.

I really didn’t know what to say, or how to say it, so I ultimately just left disappointed and ended up taking the twists out about 2 weeks later. I definitely learned my lesson, because the next time I had a hair appointment I spoke up before and during my appointment.

When you don’t speak up during a hair appointment, the only one you are hurting is yourself! You are the one who is going to have to deal with the hairstyle, and not to mention, you are paying for a service!
