Our Top Eight Best Natural Hair Styles For A Beach Or Pool Day

Summer is officially here and if you have not been enjoying the sunshine yet, then its about time you get out there boo. Here are 10 styles you can wear to the beach or pool while having fun in the sun

Mermaid hair

This is what I love to call “Mermaid hair” because honestly there is nothing more freeing than just letting your hair be free to do what it does best. This is not the safest way to swim but it is a ton of fun and had to make list. If you plan to just wing it, add a ton of conditioner to your hair before you swim and shampoo and condition your hair right after.

Shaped Fro

A full on shaped fro! This is the year where we enjoy the freedom that natural hair gives us. There is nothing like hair with a little shape so that when it shrinks it is darn near perfect. This is just another option for those of us who prefer to rock our kinky* fro and love great shape while doing it.

Braids

Braids will always be a fan fave for the beach or an extended vacation. If you do not feel like fussing with your natural hair and you just want to literally get up and go braids are a great option. I would still suggest adding conditioner to the braids especially where your hair length is just to protect your hair. Do not hesitate to shampoo and condition them as well, especially after the beach or pool.

High textured bun

A textured high bun is definitely my go to style for the beach or pool because for one your hair is out of the way and your ends are tucked away from the sun. Ensure that your bun is loaded with conditioner just in case you end up under water!

High ponytail braid

How dope is this high ponytail braid? For one, it is a protective style, two, high ponytails are back on deck since Beyonce and the Met Gala last year, and 3, you can rock this at any stage in your natural journey. Get creative, add a little hair and enjoy beach day like no other!

Cornrows

Cornrows will always be a go to style for the beach or pool because all of your hair is in place and they are super cute. When you decide to get cornrows, keep things simple but neat and you can always wash your hair with the cornrows still in using an applicator bottle* for shampoo.

Headwraps

Personally, I am not a fan of headwraps at the beach especially on hot days but women are rocking them more often. They match swimwear and they protect your hair. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Bantu Knots

If you have not tried rocking bantu knots at the beach you should. They are cute, but not necessarily made for swimming unless you have them nicely pinned and secure. This is a great protective style, and keeps your end tucked as you have fun in the sun.
