Black Bridal Party With Beautiful Voluminous Afros Goes Viral

I’ve shared my personal story about how my sister almost didn’t let me in her wedding because of my natural hair, and I ultimately gave in to straightened it. Sadly, our relationship still hasn’t fully recovered from that ordeal. So, when browsing the internet and seeing these photos, I couldn’t help but smile.

These photos have been swarming around the internet about an all black bridal party who all rocked beautiful afros!

Nakyia Davis and all 6 of her bridesmaids wore natural hairstyles for the ultimate bridal shoot. The decision was ultimately up to Nakyia, who envisioned this, and brought her vision to light on one of the beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic.

Each bridesmaid and the bride wore their hair in side swept afros that were accented with white orchids. To say the images were breathtaking, would be an understatement.

Although all of the participants were all natural, it is a hope that these photos will inspire other women around the world to embrace their natural hair- no matter the occasion.

All of the ladies each have natural hair and were proud displaying it during such a momentous occasion, It is a hope that the virility of the bridal portraits will “empower someone to embrace their natural hair and not feel hesitant to do so, no matter the occasion.” Also, “self-love and confidence [and being] yourself…naturally.”

That message speaker volumes, and I hope young women all over the world see it and feel confident enough to rock their natural hair, not just to weddings, but job interviews, business meetings, and more.

This whole story was like a breath of fresh air! I don’t know about you, but these images make me want to run to the bathroom right now and go play with my natural hair!
