My First New York Natural Hair Salon Experience

Salon

Going to a natural hair salon has always been on my things-to-do in New York bucket list. I had my fair share of failed regular salon visits, so when I was finally able to get an appointment at one of the premier natural hair salons in New York City, I was beyond ecstatic.

The waiting list for this particular salon was backed up for months, and when I called to make my appointment it just so happened that someone had just cancelled literally 5 minutes prior, so I was in luck. I was so nervous leading up to the day of the appointment and was really trying to figure out what style to get.

I browsed the website and tried to find pricing, but there was none listed. I kind of assumed that it would be expensive, I just didn’t know how expensive, but figured I would bite the bullet, since it was on my bucket list.

The day of my appointment, as soon as I walked into the salon I was enamored by all of the natural products in the salon! This salon is a name brand product salon, so all of their products are well known in the natural hair community.

I was really surprised to see products that I’ve never seen on the shelfs, and made a note to buy something at the end of my appointment. When I finally sat down in my stylist’s chair, she spun me around and did a quick assessment of my hair and told me what she thought I needed. She also asked me what style I wanted, and I opted for a simple wash and go.

My wash and gos have been a bit limp lately, so I wanted a professional to work their magic on my curls…. and boy did she! I don’t typically tip at salons, but my curls had never been so bouncy and moisturized.

I mean, they were popping! The only downside, I would say is the price. Even before I purchased the products, the bill was over 100 dollars, however I was prepared, and paid. That will probably be me last natural hair salon experience, but it was definitely worth it!
