3 Tips To Get Your Little Girl To Let You Do Her Hair

little girlWe all love little girls. The dresses, the shoes, but most of all the cute hairstyles we get to see them in. However, if you ask most moms with little girls what’s one of the difficult tasks to do she’ll probably say getting her to sit still to do her hair.

I’ve witnessed the struggle with my sister and her 3 girls, and I’m pretty sure I gave my mom a hard time as well. Truth is, kids just don’t like to sit still. They like to be active, move around, and stay busy.

I recently sat down with my sister and asked how she did it and she gave me these 3 tips.

1. Distraction

As I stated before, kids get bored easily so if they are sitting down while getting their hair done they are going to want to get up. Find good distractions such as games, toys, or even the television.

If your child is a bit younger, you can try sitting her in the sink in front of the mirror and let her be entertained by hair bows and her reflection in the mirror. Trust me, it works!

One of my favorite distractions is a hair doll. Let her style her baby doll’s hair as you do her own. The challenge to be like mommy will be rewarding to her.

2. Incentives

Once your child gets to a certain age you might encounter more difficulty with getting her to cooperate. At this point you may want to implement small bribes or treats that she will enjoy. This can be anything from ice cream or extra time to play outside etc.

3. Sleep Styling

As a last resort, you can always opt to style her hair while she sleeps. This works especially well with braid hairstyles and the bonus is it will last at least a week.

What’s your favorite way of getting your little girl to let you do her hair?
