A Booking Error Caused My Dislike For The Salon To Resurface

Salon booking
It’s been about 4 years since I’ve stepped foot into a hair salon, with the exception of getting my hair braided. I learned the hard way that if I want something done the way I want I have to do it myself.

So I taught myself how to relax, color, and cut my hair. Since going natural, I’ve kept up my own coloring and trimming and have felt that I was doing a pretty good job.

At the start of this year I made a goal to get my first professional hair trim around the middle of this year. My birthday happens to fall at the start of July, so I felt that this would be the perfect time as a mid-year pick-me-up for my hair.

My best friend told me about a deal going on at a salon back home with the stylist who once cut my hair into a nice pixie in 2010, which I loved. I trusted the stylist so I definitely jumped on because I knew I wouldn’t find a deal like that anywhere else.

I immediately called and a series of phone tag started to commence. I left a message to schedule an appointment around the same time my best friend had scheduled hers so we could make a girls day out of it.

The stylist called back when I was unavailable and left a messaging with the time she had free. Later that day, I called back to confirm the slot and another woman answered the phone. I explained to her the situation and gave her my name and she was like “oh! She already has you down. We’ll see you that day.”

Yay! Appointment booked. I was excited and nervous because though she did an amazing job on my short relaxed pixie, who’s to say that she can handle natural hair.

The day came and as I was getting ready to head out to the salon my best friend texted me and said she mentioned to the stylist that I was coming in later and she said she didn’t have an appointment for me because I didn’t confirm.

Wait. What?! One, I was thankful this was brought up before I drove all the way across town to the salon, but two is she serious?

Turns out she had a question mark beside my name in the book and the girl I spoke with didn’t remove it when I called back. Of course the rest of my week was packed so I was unable to reschedule and I was so annoyed.

So what did I do? I went back home and trimmed my own hair yet again. I know it was a mistake but salons just keep leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
