This New Product Promises To Color Your Gray Hair Without The Use Of Any Chemicals

Color-Gray-no-Chemicals

We have talked about coloring gray hair a million times on the blog, but today I think we may have scored big with this discovery. Our friends over at Black Naps blogged about a new product that colors your grays without the use of any chemicals.

We aren’t talking about henna* or Indigo* either, we mean actual color that is easy to apply and that uses your internal body chemistry to naturally color your hair.

The color system is called Hairprint and here is the science behind it according to the website:

Hairprint was invented by Dr. John Warner, of the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry in Massachusetts. Dr. Warner is one of the most honored chemists today. In 2014, Dr. Warner was awarded the Perkin Medal, widely acknowledged as the highest honor in American chemistry. Over a period of four years, Dr. Warner perfected a safe, healing and non-toxic process that mimics what hair follicles do: infuse hair with its natural pigment.

When Warner first began experimenting he was trying to find a natural way to color hair. He worked with gray hair extensions* and from the beginning the tresses took on different shades, from light brown to jet-black. Unable to achieve a consistent result, he asked his supplier if the tresses were from a single donor. They were not. They were comprised of hair from many sources. That is when Warner realized that Hairprint might be restoring innate color to the hair. To test his theory, he applied it to his own hair. His hair had gone gray as a young man at Princeton. In eighty minutes, it returned his hair to the same color he had thirty years prior. Hairprint was born.

When you replenish the hair’s natural pigments, it reverses gray hair. John knew this going into his experiments. What he did not expect is how Hairprint transforms the health of the hair, making it stronger, giving it more body and luster. Rather than thinking of Hairprint as a coloring agent, think of it as a Hair Healing System that just happens to reverse gray hair to its natural color.

Awesome right! the ingredients of the product are as follows:

Baking Soda
Sodium carbonate
Mucuna pruriens extract
Hydrogen peroxide
Ferrous gluconate
Manganese* gluconate
Carbomer
Diatomaceous earth

Each of which is also explained on the website:

“Baking soda is what we use at home for baking and cleaning. Mucuna pruriens extract is made from velvet beans. Sodium carbonate is made from salt and limestone. Ferrous and manganese* gluconate are both vitamin supplements*. Hydrogen peroxide is made of oxygen and water and naturally, occurs in the hair follicle. Carbomer is an inert thickener used in shampoos and pharmaceuticals. Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring sedimentary rock made from ancient deposits of hard-shelled algae”.

There is also a demo you can watch to see the process. It looks as if it is pretty long but well worth it if you are trying to live a chemical free life:

One thing to note, if you have a relaxer or other chemicals in your hair, you will have to allow your hair time to grow out before using Hairprint. It works best on virgin strands.
