5 Styles That Will Totally Define Your Curls

As a natural who’s obsessed with her curl pattern, I am always looking for natural styles that will make my curls pop or defined! It took a lot of trial and error, but I have finally found 5 styles that are sure to have my curls super defined and poppin’

1. Wash and Go

At first, I thought a wash and go meant that you wash your hair and then literally go. However, for me and most other naturals, it’s not that cut and dry. In order to make sure your curls are super defined, it is a major key that you apply a curl defining creme and some gel, and THEN go, and let it air dry.

2. Braid Outs

The key for curl definition with a braid out, it to make the curls on the smaller end. Though, it’ll take more time upfront and during unbraiding, the results will be worth it at the end.

3. Twist Outs

This style is perfect for getting just the right curl definition, and it’s also super easy, and doesn’t take long at all. Just like with braid outs, in the smaller the twists, the more defined your curls will be.

4. Flat Twists

Flat twists are similar to twist outs, except these are not free flowing twists. Meaning, they are ‘flat’ on your head, and you can either twist them straight back or to the side, depending on how and where you want the curls to fall.

5. Finger Coils

I remember my twa stage just like it was yesterday! I was extremely discouraged when I didn’t see automatic curl definition after a wash. Finger coils are a great option for naturals of all lengths, but especially if your just big chopped, and your hair isn’t long enough for the other styles.

This style is really easy, too. All you have to do is twirl your hair around your finger until you get the desired curl. Once they dry, you can either uncurl them, or leave them coiled! What are some of your favorite styles for ultimate curl definition? Comment below!
