It’s winter and so that means we need to spend more time trying to retain moisture in our hair. Naturals today worry about the weather and how it affects their hair because of how impactful it can be on our strands.

In this post, I wanted to suggest a DIY conditioner that will help you maintain your curls so you don’t have any fears about letting your hair down, even in the winter. If you prefer your hair to be straight and sleek, then you need to know how to maintain it in order for your ends to be neat.

For this DIY conditioner, there is no need to go out and buy new products, you probably have all of these in your kitchen or somewhere around your house.

What you will need

  • Mayonaise

It helps to replenish dry and damaged hair from the inside out. Continued usage of the mayonnaise on the hair will make your hair fuller and softer. Now, you may not like the smell which is why Africa’s Best Hair Mayonaise is a good substitute.

  • Oil: Coconut*, avocado, almond, and jojoba*

You may want to stick with oils* that penetrate the hair shaft and can really get into the hair. These are lighter oils* and using them can help stimulate blood circulation, seal in moisture, reverse hair loss, improve the overall health of the hair, treat dry scalp, and can get rid of dandruff.

  • Cheap conditioner

Any cheap conditioner will do for this recipe so go ahead and use some VO5 which will probably cost you just a couple of cents at the grocery store.

How to mix:

Put two spoonfuls of coconut oil* (if hardened state) and four (if liquid) into the jar. Follow that up with two cups of mayonnaise and two spoonfuls of conditioner. You can put more if you need more.

Now, take the conditioner and mash and mix it in the jar. Put the mix onto your hair and massage it in throughout your hair. Put your processing cap over the hair and wait for 30 minutes at minimum to wash it out.

This amazing conditioner mix will strengthen your strands and add a ton of moisture to your hair. Comment below if you plan to try it!
