8Th Grade Dance Hairstyle Tutorial And Dress! Princess Hairstyles

Come see the pretty braided hairstyle and dress she wore to her 8th grade dance! A sort of "get ready with me" video.

Recently my daughter went to the traditional end of middle school eighth grade dance. This dance is typically a semi formal occasion in our area which some teens have nicknamed the "8th grade Prom" or "eighth grade graduation." This dance is the last celebration before entering High School as a Freshman!

She wanted a half up half down hairstyle with braids, so this is what we came up with. We have combined french braids, lace braids, feather braids, and a loop braid technique to create a delicate braided crown design. This hairstyle is fairly simple and classic, yet eye catching and elegant. Truly a "Princess Hairstyle" that could be worn for many special occasions: Communions, Homecoming, Prom, church, recitals, graduation, weddings (both for brides or flower girls hairstyles) etc.

After creating her cute braided tie back hairstyle, we added some curls off camera. Our "Curling Wand Curls Tutorial" from a few years ago can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VVgvi...

She was hoping to find a dress that was fancy, but not too "over the top" formal. We both fell in love with this adorable and fashionable white chiffon shift dress from JCPenney. I could not find a link to the exact dress online, but here are a few very similar dresses on amazon:

The necklace shown with the dress in our video is also from JCPenney. Her ankle boots are from Old Navy.

Because he's going to be going to her 8th grade dance tonight, so we're going to show you the hairstyle she's going to be wearing and then at the end of the video will also show you the dress that she picked out. So for the hairstyle, we've started with a side part and then I'm going to grab some hair here up front. I'M also going to be leaving some out here in the front to frame her face. I'M going to start by splitting this into three strands and I'm going to be braiding it normally. I am going to add in a few strands of hair here, just right at the top, like a French braid, now that I've added a couple of strands here along the bottom, I'm not going to add any more I'm just going to braid normally without taking a Strand in here on the top, I am going to add a few more and then starting about a couple of inches back from the front of her face. I'M going to start removing strands from this bottom piece, so I'm just taking out about half of that braid before I grade it in and I'm going to do that three times, so I'm still adding here from the top, I think that'll be the last round. I add from the top and then again I'm going to remove a strand here on the bottom and then just break normally and then I'm going to remove one more strand. So I have three now I'm going to start adding these back into the braid. But before I do that, I am going to add some product to these strands, just so that they don't have flyaways. I went ahead and just added some hairspray to these strands. You can use pomade gel whatever you have on hand and then I'm going to start with this one at the front and I'm just going to add it directly into this braid and then here again I'm on the right side. I'M going to add the one in the middle and then of course, the last one after you have all of those added. You just want to braid, maybe two times you don't want to too tight and then you're going to go back and stretch these out. So I'm just starting here with the one in the front and I'm gently just going to pull on that. You want to try to keep that strand together same thing with the next one and you want to make them about the same size. So you'll just want to kind of look at it at this point and decide if you want to make them any larger or just leave them as they are after you get it. How you want it to look, you can just continue braiding this piece and then I'm going to tie it off temporarily, while I do the same thing to the other side. So here's what this side looks like at this point is sticking out a little strange, but when we bring it to the center, it's going to lay more flat and then we're just going to do the exact same thing over here. Do you you're stretching out these strands on the second side? You'Ll just want to kind of look and make sure that you're getting them about the same size as the ones on the other. Okay, now that we have both of those braids down, the final step is to tie them together in the center you'll just want to make sure that they're laying how you want them to lay if you need to tie them up higher or down lower just do It how you think is going to look good with the hair you're working with the hairstyle looks finished. You can leave your hair straight, we're actually going to add some curls and I will have our curling wand. Video linked below those are. The kind of curls were going to me: Oh
