Top Six Hair Masks For Dry And Damaged Hair

Managing and maintaining healthy hair has always been an uphill battle for many women, and with the constant exposure of day to day stresses it makes it that much more difficult to keep it under control.

When hair is damaged it becomes dry, brittle, dull, frizzy, and unmanageable. If you want to restore shine, vibrancy, and strength try applying one of the six fantastic natural hair masks below.

For Dry And Frizzy Hair…

1. Olive Oil, Honey, And Rosemary Mask

The honey will restore shine to the hair while olive oil restores moisture.  The treatment is then enhanced with rosemary to help stimulate healthy hair growth.

1/2 cup of honey
1/4 cup of warmed olive oil
4 drops of rosemary oil*
1 teaspoon of xanthan gum (found in the baking section of supermarkets)

Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.  Apply mixture to damp hair and gently massage into the scalp and hair until completely covered.

Cover hair with a shower cap* or warm towel and leave in for approximately 30 minutes.  Shampoo and rinse with cold water.

1 can of pure coconut milk
1 ripe avocado
2-4 tablespoons of pure honey
2-3 tablespoons of olive oil

Place all ingredients into a blender and mix at a high speed until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.

Apply a generous amount of mixture evenly to your hair from roots to tips, concentrating on the ends.  Leave for 15-30 minutes then rinse thoroughly.

For Color Or Damaged Hair…

cucumber hair mask3. Cucumber Treatment

1 egg
Half an eggshell worth of olive oil
1 quarter of a peeled cucumber

Blend all ingredients in a food processor* until smooth.  Apply mixture evenly to your hair and leave in for 10 minutes.  Rinse well.

1/2 banana
2 tablespoons of canola oil* or olive oil
2 tablespoons of honey
1 egg

Blend all ingredients in a food processor* until thoroughly combined.

First of all you need to shampoo and condition hair as normal to cleanse hair. Apply mixture to your hair, wrap in a towel and leave in for approximately 45 minutes (do not use a shower cap as the mixture will not dry).

Rinse out using cold water, as not to cook the egg into your hair and to ensure hair cuticles close up to retain all moisture and protein.  Apply leave-in conditioner* and style as normal.

Ripe avocados as a hair mask5. Avocado Moisturiser

1/2 of peeled and mashed avocado
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
3-4 drops of vitamin E oil

Add Vitamin E to avocado and mayonnaise and either mash with a fork or use a blender to combine.

Apply mixture to hair until completely coated then cover hair with a shower cap*, for deep conditioning* wrap hair with a warm towel instead.  Leave in for approximately 20 minutes and then rinse well.  You can apply recipe to damaged ends only if you wish.

wheat germ oil6. Wheat Germ Treatment

2 tablespoons of cream
3-5 drops of wheat germ oil
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Combine all ingredients and mix well, gently massage mixture into hair for approximately 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
