Kelli-Nicole’s Braid-Out Tutorial

Kelli-Nicole's Braid-Out Tutorial

Get ready for cuteness overload because little Kelli-Nicole is totally adorable! Alicia James who we have featured here on BHI a few times has a little girl named Kelli and she created a hair channel dedicated to just her hair.

We often get questions about regimens for little girls, and honestly we totally understand the concern of a mom trying to take care of her daughters hair. The thing about kids with natural hair and quite frankly adults is that less is always more. With that said if we were to come up with a list of things that are pertinent in any child’s regimen, it would look something like this!

1. Avoid harsh detergents – Using regular shampoo in a young childs hair is ‘ok’ if you know how to counteract the harsh effects of sulfates. However when you have an active child, running around at school, jumping, playing, rolling around on the playground, their hair tends to dry out really fast! With that said helping them to retain moisture by avoiding harsh products is very important.

2. Condition Condition Condition – A weekly regimen of deep conditioning* can really be helpful when trying to keep your child’s hair moisturized. Just find a simple water based product to keep her hair hydrated, and let it sit in her hair for at least 20 minutes.

3. Refresh her curls with simple solutions or mixes – Just adding water to a spray bottle is enough to refresh your child’s hair. However if you want to add aloe vera juice* or a simple leave in conditioner* is just fine as well. Do not forget to seal her hair with an oil every time you refresh her curls or condition her hair.

4. Protect the hair – Protective styles are often a life saver for moms because you style her hair once for the week and not have to fuss over it throughout the week. Not only does this help your little girl retain length but it saves you time as well. ‘Out” styles can be done for special occasions, or church so that she is able to enjoy her hair at times as well.
