5 Relaxed Hair Ladies You Should Subscribe To On YouTube

I have a confession to make: I LOVE YOUTUBE! I could literally spend the whole day watching videos. Who would have thought that there could be a whole website dedicated to literally everything? You just type it into the search bar and it’s there. Don’t even get me started on videos about hair…

Needless to say. YouTube has been a great resource for me in my hair journey. I turn to it for everything from learning how to do new styles or even getting ideas on how to tweak my regimen.

It’s a great source with countless examples for almost every step of your hair journey. When it comes to hair, I personally enjoy watching tutorials more than anything else.

If it’s a product review, length check, etc. I would rather read it. That is why some of my favorite YouTube hair divas also have their own personal blogs. It gives me the best of both worlds and feeds my hair addiction at the same time.

Although I am a self proclaimed YouTube addict, I do have one small pet peeve about it. Since it is so easy to use and basically anyone can make a profile, it is hard to discern whether or not you’re getting correct information from the people who post videos.

Before I knew a lot about hair care this would trip me up all the time. It’s so easy to search for “Best Relaxed Hair Regimens” and just click on the first thing that pops up that I hadn’t ever considered vetting what the people in the videos were saying. I learned early on to look for channels that seemed quality and whose owners had luscious hair to prove the fruits of their labor.

Lucky for you, I am willing to share the results of my YouTube channel vetting and have come up with a few relaxed (and texlaxed) hair mavens that you should follow on YouTube.

If you don’t already know them you’ll be sorry you’ve been missing out on these gems. I would like to take this moment  to go ahead and apologize in advance for the extra time you’ll be spending in front of your computer catching up on their videos!

Without further ado check out some of the YouTuber’s that I watch on the regular.

Lesley from Fresh Lengths

Perhaps one of the hardest things to see before reaching your own hair goals (especially with length) are women who have super long hair because it seems like you’ll never be in that place. Secretly, I look for hair inspiration from women who have started from short hair and have successfully grown out long, healthy hair.

Hailing from the UK, Lesley is one of those ladies who basically started her hair journey from the bottom and is still working her way up. She started from neck length in 2010 and now how a glorious and full head of hair to show for her hair journey.

In case her YouTube videos aren’t enough for you she has her own blog and is a contributing writer for Birthday Magazine. I consider her to be my texlaxed braidout queen and love trying out some of her styles.

Meg aka ULoveMegz

Meg started her hair journey after a setback that led her to want to take better care of her hair. Using a consistent regimen that includes all types of protective styles including weaves* has helped her gain healthy hair. Her channel is great for the woman who is interested in learning how to take care of her hair, but also wants to be entertained.

Meg is a ball of personality and it definitely shines through in her videos making them fun to watch. She doesn’t just stick to hair and even has some makeup and fashion tips for her interested subscribers. Plus, every now and then she does a giveway! Who doesn’t like free stuff.

Ms. Kibibi

Ms. Kibibi has been around for quite some time and has even published a book “The 5 Hair Archetypes” designed to help women identify which “archetype” they are in order to better take care of their her.

She is a big fan of wigging, especially in the winter months and while I do not wear wigs* myself, I always find it interesting to see how one would go about incorporating them into their regimen.

Aside from her tutorials, I turn to Ms. Kibibi for product reviews. Now, I know I said I’d rather read them, but in her case I love to watch them because she reviews the product as she applies it. That way viewers feel like they’re using to product right along with her (metaphorically of course). It’s like a 2 for 1 deal. A tutorial and review wrapped up in one. I’m sold.

Waist length AND relaxed. I don’t know about you, but that’s enough to convince me to click the subscribe button. She has to be doing something right. Thankfully, viewers can get a look at just what that is with plenty of how-to’s. Still not convinced? Let me reiterate it for you: She is waist length and relaxed!

Jen from Just Grow Already

You may have already been exposed to Jen, through this site or maybe even a random google search that popped up her blog. I’m going to let you in on a little secret though:  Jen is basically my hair idol.

She is my go to guide for any questions I may have. So, if I want to try a new product I’m going to her for a review. If she tries something new I’m seriously considering it too. Hence my current transition to texlaxed. I’m obsessed.

Now that all of the gushing is out of the way Jenni provides great videos that are edited well and they are not too long. She started out relaxed and is now almost fully texlaxed meaning there’s something on her channel (or blog) for everyone. Her channel is mostly how-to videos so consider this a virtual instruction manual.
