Two Strand Twists on Locs

Two Strand Twists on Locs

The other day we posted a picture of a gentleman on Facebook who had what is called a two strand twist style on locs. Frankly I have never heard of such a thing because in my family most of the men with locs do what is called free form locs, kind of like Bob Marley.

Neat loc styles like two strand twists are something new for me coming from a place that was pretty much used to the ‘Bubba Dread” look. Don’t get me wrong though, I have seen enough the “neat looks” to know a little more about them but still I did a little digging on this style in particular and found out that not only is it a great style to wear on already formed locs but two strand twists are also an easy way to start locs if that is what you have been thinking about doing.

There are a number of ways to start locs, one is free form as I mentioned, palm rolling and of course two strand twists. Two strand twists has been deemed the easiest method that you can do yourself simply because after you have done the twists you pretty much allow your hair to matt on itself to create the loc; but we will let the women and men with the experience hash that out.

Now we can write a million words on how to start your locs, but this post is really about a styling option once they have grown. We thought it would be best to use a video as a tutorial for the two strand twists in case you would like to try it. We chose the fabulous Jasmine Rose who demonstrates how she does two strand twists on her handsome male friend and she also gives a bit of commentary about his loc journey as well.

Watch the video and comment below letting us know how long your locs are and how you style them.
