How To Cheat A Flexirod Set On Dry Stretched Hair

A Flexirod Set On Dry Stretched Hair

See what happened was, I was busy, of course I was busy I have a 1 and a half year old who spills and climbs. In the middle of cleaning up orange gook with one hand and removing paper from his mouth with the other hand I heard my phone go off.

I checked it like I usually do and realized, oh it was nothing just Youtube telling me another video was made. But wait, double take, its Whitney and she has some kind of heatless curls going on of course I had to take a longer look, so I put down the terrorist and said “yaaas werk!” – That’s not quite what I said but we are a family blog.

This video is the head BIC of heatless curls, its just regular old flexi rods*, a little bit of flax gel and some shea butter* on stretched hair. So whats the big deal? Well number one the set came out amazing and number two most of us tend to do a set like this on wet hair. Personally I prefer a fresh set but it never comes out perfect because my hair never drys fully.

If you have very thick dense hair then doing the set on dry hair might be more beneficial than trying it on wet hair. Another reason why you should do a dry set is if your are trying stretch your wash day, meaning if you typically shampoo and condition weekly but you want to go just a bit longer, you can switch your style up mid week to give you more days.

We arent encouraging dirty hair by no means, but sometimes 10 – 14 days between washes might be ideal for a busy person. The final reason a dry set might be ideal is when you have to do something crazy mid week that requires fabulous hair. Date, gala, parent/teacher meeting, things like that, which will require a little hair drama. You dont have to rewash, but you might have to re-juvinate!

Check out the latest video from Naptural85 as she demonstrates a heatless flexirod set using flax gel.
