3A Curls - Big Curly Natural Hair Tutorial

Big curly natural hair tutorial

It isn’t very often that we do a video featuring a woman with 3A curls and we realize that some of our readers might actually benefit from it. On a personal note most of my family members except for me and a few of my cousins, have 3 A curls, and what I have noticed with my own family is that they kind of take their hair for granted.

I might get a shoe flung at me for saying this but it is very true, they have very long hair that can withstand most of the damage they put it through but at some point their curls just give up and they themselves come to the realization that hey, I might need to pay more attention to how I treat my hair. Less color, less heat, more moisture, more protein, wear a bonnet, all that good stuff!

When you fall in the 3A category, your curls are much looser, you might not have as much tangles even though you aren’t exempt from them but your hair still gets dry, your curls still need breaks from using heat and if you are color treated then you must use protein to help strengthen the strand. We wanted to show what a typical 3A routine would look like, since most of our girls with that texture tend to do wash and go’s predominantly as a signature style.

Here are six things our 3A naturals can benefit from when on a healthy hair journey:

1. Moisturize with a product that is water based

2. Deep condition your hair often

3. Use products that do not weigh down your curls, light gels, light creams light oils*

4. Seal your hair with a light oil

5. Air dry when you can but a diffuser* adds volume

6. You can benefit from protective styles every now and then

With that said here is a big curly natural hair tutorial done by the lovely Shizen Wong who is new to youTube but her routine is pretty typical for naturals with her hair texture.
