How To Use Rhassoul Clay As A Cleanser

rhassoulclay11

Rhassoul clay* comes from the Atlas mountains of Morocco. The clay is reddish brown, and is very rich in minerals making the clay perfect for using on your skin and on your hair. If you are looking for an all natural alternative cleanser using a clay on your scalp and hair might be a very viable option.

Normally you would purchase the clay in a powder form and mix it with some form of liquid to make the clay pliable, but you can get it in block pieces as well, if that is what you prefer.

You might wonder how the clay works to clean your hair and scalp, well it works kind of like a paste peeling away dirt and grit without causing damage to your hair or your skin if you choose to use it for a skin mask. Not only is it great for exfoliating, the minerals it has, silica, magnesium*, sodium and potassium* are all awesome for your health so you do not have to worry about harsh sufactants when using the product.

You can mix a batch up with a few liquid alternatives, water being the most basic, or you can try Aloe Vera Juice*, goats milk which I have realized is awesome for your hair or coconut milk, which is great for added protein. Don’t be afraid to put a splash of oil in your mix as well just for added benefits to your hair and shine, we recommend a light oil, like avocado oil*, or jojoba oil*.

When you make the clay, its important to use enough clay to ensure that you have a good paste and not a watery mix. You want to be able to leave the clay on for a while just like you would any mask and if it is too runny, all you will get is a mess. Add liquids in slowly to make the paste and if you make too much, don’t worry about it, you can put the unused portion in the fridge for up to 4 days.
