A Simple DIY Sulfur Hair Growth Oil Recipe

A Simple DIY Sulfur Hair Growth Oil Recipe

Us girls are always looking for hair growth remedies and supplements* to give us healthy long locs. Often, many newbies and veterans alike will decide to incorporate a Biotin* supplements* into their diet to achieve long healthy hair; But what if I told you that there is something better? Something that does not have the side effects that comes with taking Biotin* like the increase in skin breakouts that most of us complain about.

I took some time to research sulfur powder and how to use it and most importantly, why we should use it. The use of sulfur powder is something relatively new to me, so I had to make sure I had all my ducks in a row before presenting this to your lovely ladies.

Sulfur* powder is a very important compound that most humans need. We need sulfur to improve our skin conditions, for scalp health, and joint functionality especially if you suffer from arthritis, along with other great health benefits. According to Eric Boon at www.usesof.net,

“Sulfur is effective because of its keratolytic, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.”

That alone makes it very popular as a hair growth supplement, great for scalp therapy and the holy grail for hair loss. When purchasing Sulfur Powder make sure to get ‘Sublimed Sulfur Powder‘ and this you can easily find on Amazon and some Trader Joe stores.

Believe it or not, we use products containing sulfur powder every day. Just go and check the ingredients of your lotions, acne treatments, dandruff shampoos and eczema or psoriasis medications; you will find sulfur somewhere on the list. During my research, I found out that sulfur compounds are the biggest problem solvers for skin conditions such as eczema, dandruff and acne.

I suffer from eczema, and spend tons of money on ointments, shampoos and lotions for my skin and scalp. So I was excited that I could possibly limit my pharmacy visits by making  a DIY Sulfur scalp oil that will improve my scalp’s health, stimulate growth and I could also use on my entire body.

Before making the oil I did check with my doctor first because for one I am currently pregnant and I was worried it might not be safe for me to use or mix this powder if not prescribed. Thankfully I was able to ask the doctor questions and I was told that it is perfectly safe and also very effective. We always advise that you do the same thing when trying something new that you might want to mix at home.

The doctor went on to explain that Selenium Sulfide, which is the active ingredient used in dandruff and scalp eczema shampoos are sulfur* compounds so making your own sulfur hair growth oil and scalp treatment with sublimed sulfur powder is beneficial as long as you use a small amount of the sulfur powder in your mixtures.

Tasha over at HairDiarys Blog posted a really simple mixture that I think is very easy to recreate and your scalp will thank you for it.

What You Need:

►Applicator Bottle*: This makes applying the mixture to your scalp so much easier

►Sublimed Sulfur Powder: Add ONLY 1 teaspoon of the sulfur powder to your bottle. Remember, this stuff is really potent and you do not want to use more than you should. 1 teaspoon is enough.

►1 cup of natural oil or oil mixture. Choose your favorite oil or oil blend. Make sure that you have penetrating oils in you mixture like coconut oil* or olive oil*.

►Tea Tree Oil*: 5-10 drops of tea tree* oil will give your hair growth oil a little extra boost. Tea tree oil is very good at stimulating hair growth and helping to eliminate scalp problems such as dandruff and eczema.

Cover your bottle and SHAKE WELL. It is very important that you shake this up really well to make sure the powder is evenly distributed in the bottle. Every time you are about to use this scalp oil you should shake it properly to distribute the sulfur. We cannot stress this enough.

Lots of girls who have been using DIY Sulfur hair growth oil mixtures have seen favorable results. You will see hair growth if you use it consistently along with your regular regimen.

Below is a YouTube video of Shanitra Nakki showing you how she makes her DIY Sulfur Hair growth oil so that you can make your own.

Other uses of the Sulfur Oil Mix

We have already established that this oil mix is very good for your scalp as it helps to restore your hair follicles to the best of health and promote hair growth. However this is what I would call a miracle mixture because you can use this all over your body and for the whole family.

If you have dry skin, cracked heels or rashes, this sulfur oil mix can help to solve those problems and restore your skin. It is also safe to use on children who suffer from dry skin. For small children, you might want to use less tea tree oil* or eliminate it altogether because Tea Tree* oil can sometimes be too strong for children’s sensitive skin.

The oil is pretty easy to make. Will you be trying it?
