A Braid Out On A Tapered Cut

A Braid Out On A Tapered Cut

I gotta say, Im kinda feeling this style alot. When you have a tapered cut you might be tempted to do a head full of the typical curls because that style looks pretty awesome with the cut. But what if you want to funk it up a bit with semi defined braid out. KenK shows us how she does a braid out, with a ton of texture, and pure organic curls.

A braid out on short hair requires the same amount of work as a braid out with long hair, and I use the word ‘work’ loosely. the point is you need to make sure every braided section is thoroughly moisturized and sealed to make sure the definition is just right.

What your will need

►Moisture based product – You can use water but conditioner and water in a spray bottle is better. Or you can try a mix of half Aloe Vera Juice* and water

►Sealant – Any simple oil will do, olive oil* or my personal favourite coconut oil*. You really do not need a heavy oil for your hair when it is cut short because the last thing you need is for it to be weighed down and dripping all over your forehead

►Drying time – This is probably the most important step when it comes to definition because allowing your hair to completely dry sets the hair. If your hair is wet at any time, you will end up with poofy undefined curls which is not a braid out.

►A pick – Because your hair is short and tapered, you can use a pick to lift the bigger areas to keep your shape and also to encourage volume in the areas that you need it. A pick gets right in there to lift the roots without disturbing the curl pattern.
