How To DIY Ombre Your Hair While In A Protective Style

Ahhh, don’t we all just love the ombre look, especially on a weave*? Instead of buying those extensions* already ombre, why not do it yourself? Yes, it’s easy, and no…it’s not expensive. That way, you can do a little bragging and tell everyone who asks or compliments your hair that you did it yourself.

You often hear that the ombre color technique is a summer and spring look, but honestly, ombre is ombre whenever and however you want it. So what if fall and winter is around the corner? Who says you have to now adopt dull trends? Get a pop of color if you are feeling bold.

  • The things you will need are:
  • Human Hair (installed).
  • Hair bleach and developer.
  • Hair dye (optional).
  • Applicator brush.
  • Plastic gloves.
  • A towel you don’t mind staining.

It is really simple. Once you have mixed up your bleach, see the video for an estimate of measurements of developer and powder, and the way it is supposed to be mixed. Apply it generously to the ends of your hair. Let the tips of the hair sit for a few minutes, then work your way up as far as you want the ombre to go.

Applying the solution to your tips first and working your way up will create the fade illusion, from faint blonde to blonde-blonde. The way you want it is completely up to you. That is what makes this project unique, your hair becomes your canvas, and the artist is you.

The foil and all that extra stuff is not necessary; experiment with different colors, and do not worry about it if you mess it up. It might cost you the weave*, but at least your actual hair will be ok.
