9 Year Old Washes And Styles Her Natural Hair Herself

CaptureIt’s 1 am in the morning and you better believe that, regardless of the time I am obligated to share this video. You know why? Because it is the most adorable video I have seen in a long time. This little 9 yr old has mastered her hair, even though it was her first time, you can tell her mom has taught her well.

I wanted to make a point that when you have a child, I t is important that you do not under estimate what they are capable of, and how much they can learn from just seeing you practice on a daily basis.

The question is, how do you get your daughter to the point of doing her own hair from start to finish with confidence? We have three suggestions:

1. Start early

We have seen moms start the process, as early as three years old, with a simple routine surrounding their little girl’s hair. Like wearing a bonnet at night, or maybe putting on a shower cap* at bath time. Just something simple that puts a gem in her head, until it it is time to move on to other steps.

2. Let her help you with simple tasks

Moisturizing her hair might be something pretty easy she can help with, so give her a section of hair and a little moisturizer in her hand, and have her moisturize that section. Practice makes perfect, and just one simple task can make all the difference.

3. Be consistent with wash day

Things happen, so sometimes you might miss a week here and there, but it is important to try to keep a schedule with wash day for your little one. Let her help too; maybe she can rinse or apply the conditioner. Personally, my wash day was every Saturday, and my mom let me rinse. I knew my routine because it was a habit.

Check out little miss adorbs as she demonstrates her wash day. She made mommy proud; I am sure of it:
