A Frohawk Style For Your Little Girl

I really enjoyed Yolanda’s video as she styles her daughters hair. The style was nothing but adorable for both girls, and we thought it could be something you could try for your little girl every now and then; maybe for a party or a play date.

In this style, Yolanda styles her daughter’s hair while stretched and already moisturized. If you you are working with freshly washed hair, start out in sections after conditioning, and add a great leave in to keep her curls very moisturized. A simple conditioner and styling cream is enough for styling.

The key to this style is the sections: ensuring that you do not borrow hair from any section, keeping parts in tact, so that the hair does not get tangled.

Product and tools

Leave in conditioner* of your choice.

Styling gel or cream.

Detangling brush, to smooth the hair.

Rat Tail comb* for parting.

The technique

Bantu knots – for each section, create a two strand twist and then twist the twist into a bantu knot. There is no need to secure with pins; the knots will remain in place over night.

In the morning – Remove each knot carefully. Do not separate too much; the idea is to keep as much of the texture as you can. A neat tip is to leave the ends of the twists in tact. Just separate to the end, but do not separate the ends.

Create the Fro Hawk – using your hands, smooth the hair upwards and pin into place to form the Fro Hawk. You can use Eco Styler Gel* to smooth the edges, or a little edge control.

Yolanda uses a tooth brush to finish up the style, keeping her daughter’s baby hair neat. This gives the style a really cute look. Use as many pins as you need to keep the style in place, but not so much that she feels uncomfortable.

If you want your daughter to keep the texture for another style, just add your moisturizer and re-twist for night time and cover her head with a satin bonnet*.
