Bantu Knot Out Cheat for Natural Hair

Have you wanted the perfect bantu knot out for a while and it seems like you still can’t get it right? Does it seem like no matter what you do, your bantu knot out remains a frizzy mess that loses curl definition after one or two days? If so, you’re not alone- welcome to the club of bantu knot out challenged ladies! And don’t worry, this easy cheat shared by Youtuber Jessica Pettway will help give you your best bantu knot out ever.

What You Need:

Styler of choice (She uses Curls Blueberry Bliss Control Paste)

Widetooth Comb

Bobby Pins* (the small ones; the amount you need depends on how many bantu knots you’ll be doing)

She does this style on dry hair. You can either stretch your hair beforehand or do this on an old hair style. Section a piece of hair, the section you create will determine how your curl will fall- the bigger your section the looser the curl; the smaller the section, the tighter the curl; etc.

Apply a small amount of your styling product. Use a soft set styler for softer and bouncier curls. Place your finger at the root of your hair and use it similar to a curling wand*. Wrap your hair around your finger until you get to the top. Secure this with a small bobby pin.

Repeat this all over your head. Similar to the size of your section, how tight you wrap your hair will determine how loose or tight your curl will be. Wrap it tightly, especially if you’re using a soft hold styler. Put on a satin bonnet* after completing all of the ‘bantu knots’.

The next day, take out all of the bobby pins* and apply some oil to your fingers before taking down the knots. Use oil to help prevent frizz. After taking down each bantu knot, separate and fluff your hair lightly. You don’t want to disturb the curls too much if you want the style to last more than a day.

To preserve at night, simply sleep with a satin bonnet* or on a satin pillowcase*. Your hair should hold this style for a few days, and the curls will drop and become more voluminous as time passes.

This style is an excellent cheat for a normal bantu knot out and gives great results! It’s an excellent style for a naturalista of any skill level- from beginner to expert. It works on short, medium, and long natural hair while looking great on all three!
