3 Ways You Can Steam Your Hair Without an Overhead Bonnet Steamer

0Steaming is one of the best ways to deep condition your hair because it lifts the outer layers of the hair strand, allowing for your conditioner and moisture to really moisturize and add strength to your hair, depending on what is in your product.

Some of us might not want to make the investment and purchase a steamer*, and if you do not have one, that doesn’t mean that you can’t steam your hair every now and then. So fish out your best deep conditioners because we have 3 ways you can still steam your hair without an expensive steamer*.

1. Steaming at the gym

If you haven’t made use of your gym steam room yet, you have no idea what you are missing. Not only does the steam room improve metabolism, and open up your pores for the release of toxins through your skin, it is also a genius way to steam your hair.

Here is what you need to do. Rinse your hair a bit after a great work out and head to the steam room. You can literally deep condition your hair, while in the steam room taking care of your body.

You don’t need a plastic cap: just load the conditioner on and pin your hair up as you enjoy some detox time for 20 minutes. If you haven’t tried your steam room yet, girl, get your life!

2. Hot towel steaming

A turban towel might be the best type to use for towel steaming, but a small one will also be sufficient (please be careful not to burn yourself). What you need to do to achieve this is place a bowl of water in the microwave, and heat the towel for only a few seconds.

Put on your plastic cap, wring the warm towel out, and put it on your head for about 20 minutes. The plastic cap will hold the steam in your hair, and you will have thoroughly moisturized hair after your session.

3. Shower steaming

I have to admit that this one is not as effective as the other two from my perspective, but can still get a great steam session if done right. To get a great shower steam, ensure that all your windows and doors are closed, allowing the steam coming from the warm shower to fill up your bathroom, while the conditioner is in your hair.

It doesn’t take much steam to raise the cuticles of the strand, so even though this isn’t as powerful as the gym, or your towel, it works as well. While your hair is steaming, just relax, take a load off, and enjoy it.
