A 5 Minute Turban Tutorial For Those Days When We Want To Cover Our Hair

Turban TutorialIt is wash day for me technically, but guess what? I do not feel like washing my hair today! For many reasons, for one it is very cloudy outside and nobody washes their hair when it is cloudy.

Two, its lunch time and it is virtually impossible to think about deep conditioning* on an empty stomach. And three I saw Willow Smith looking like a young Erykah Badu in a fabulous turban and I figured I could just rock that today!

I have one problem though, I have no idea how to do it, so I hit YouTube and as if the stars are perfectly aligned in my favor there is a video done by Mahogonycurls just yesterday on how to tie a fabulous turban.

Well I am definitly not washing my hair now! Armed with my tutorial, base scarf and big bright yellow scarf I am ready to cover all this up and look like Erykah too.

The below tutorial is an easy one to follow and if you are having a bad hair day, or you just feel really regal, you can try a fabulous turban.

You will need to be able to put your hair in a high bun, and it does not have to be perfect. just high enough to give your turban some shape.

You need two scarves, one that will cover your bun the way Jess has done, and another one that will form the final turban on your head.

Now when I followed the tutorial, I sort of felt as if there was too much pressure on my head so I ended up redoing it but just a little looser so that I was more comfortable.

I would say definitly play around with it and dress it up with some simple earrings especially if you are wearing a bright colored scarf.

Check out the tutorial so we can all look like Erykah for the day:
