How To Make Your Own DIY Hair Balm

DIY Hair BalmOne of the things I have noticed about many of the hair gurus that have had maximum success with their hair, is that they have taken the time to develop hair products for themselves.

Not only is this method economical because you get to make as much as you want at any one time but it is also super healthy for your hair.

We know you love a great hair recipe around these parts so I have another one I wanted to share. Back in the day your mom would always keep a few of those old school greases around for your hair.

I can remember the smell like it was yesterday and at the time we believed that we should oil our scalp and hair for it to look and feel soft.

These days we have tried to duplicate the effects of the old school grease with healthier formulas that we can apply to our hair daily.

This recipe is for a DIY hair balm. I have personally always loved Carol’s Daughter’s Mimosa Hair Honey because the texture reminded me of old school grease but without all the clogging ingredients. Plus it smells awesome!

To mimic this hair balm you will need the following:

Ingredients

3 table spoons of Shea Butter*

1 Oz of Coco Butter

3 Tbs of Coconut oil*

1/4 cup of Olive Oil*

1/8 Cup of Saffron Oil

Note – If you are not familiar with saffron oil, it is great for hair loss, hair growth and creating lustrous hair.

Directions:

To get your balm made, melt the coconut oil*, Coco Butter and Shea butter* first into a clean small tub. Mix in your Olive* and Saffron oil and then put the mix in your fridge to solidify.

You can use your balm after applying your leave in conditioner*, as a sealant or just whenever you see fit. To keep it solid just put it in the fridge.

There you have it, your very own hair balm!
