How Daily Washing Changed My Hair Life

natural hair
In my pre hair journey days, I would definitely be the one that would not get my hair wet after the perfect “do”. I would be the one who would not want to swim because I just got my hair done.

I would be the one that would not leave an establishment because it was raining. If the rain took too long, I would grab a grocery bag and wrap up tight before I RAN to my car.

Hunny….those days are over! This journey has definitely freed me! I embrace the rain…I embrace swimming…I embrace the gym. I am no longer afraid to get my hair wet. Why?

Because water is my hair’s best friend. It is the ultimate hair growth product and the ULTIMATE hair food. It keeps my hair moisturized on another level! I used to shampoo my hair every two weeks. Now (especially in the summer months) you can catch me ‘washing’ my hair every day.

Did it break off my hair like people said it would? HECK NO!! It did the opposite. My hair flourished. My retention was amazing.

I would shampoo my hair as needed, moisturize with Cantu Shea Butter* and seal with coconut oil* and to top it all off my scalp didn’t itch as often.

My go to style during these daily washing sessions would be a bun, braid out or twist out. I also found that using a cleansing conditioner or mild shampoo regularly also eliminated any dandruff issues that might arise.

The key to eliminating that stripped feeling that some shampoos give the hair, is deep conditioning*. As long as you use condition after shampooing, you will not experience dryness and your scalp stay clean while your hair will remain moisturized.

Why I figured washing frequently would be beneficial

Water keeps our bodies healthy, strong and hydrated. I sometimes think about the feeling I would get after I completed a workout, or after working in the yard and I have gone without water for a while and then I finally get to indulge and hydrate.

In addition to that what can grow without water? How would your plants survive without water? How would your animals survive without water? How would you survive without water?

Healthy hair can absorb it’s own weight in water hydration from within and through washing allows our hair to thrive.

Do I recommend frequent washing

The answer is…. absolutely! Even though every one is different and everyone’s lifestyle is different for me, washing frequently worked.

The only thing I would suggest is do not knock it till you try it!
