Steps To Start A Hair Business

Hey cuties today, I'm going to talk about how to start your own business, your own hair business. That is so if you want to find out how to do that stay tuned. My name is - and I am the founder of Kelly Kitty, hair beauty and extensions LLC. So today we're going to be talking about how to start your own business, your own hair business. Okay, so I got a sheet of paper down here, because I'm gon na make sure that I cover all the steps. I don't want to miss anything. What I'm telling you what to do on how to start the hair business. So the first thing you need to do to start a business. Is you need to think about what type of business you want to start so because we're talking about a hair business, of course we've bought a business and that will be selling hair. So before you start doing hair, you need to do your research. So when I say do your research, what I mean by that is, you need to find out what type of hair you want to sell, and once you find out what type of hair you want to sell, then you need to go and find a hair vendor. Now, there's several ways to find in a hair vendor, there's a site called Alibaba and they have several vendors up there that you could choose from once. You decide on the vendor or the vendors that you want to possibly use, and I say possibly because you need them to send you product and send you sample products. So some vendors will send it to you for free, and all you have to do - is pay for shipping and handling, and there are some vendors that will just give you a low price and they will actually send you, like a small sample bundle and pay for The small sample and shipping and handling and there's some where they don't even offer samples you actually have to pay for each bundle that she want, and they will send it to you at the regular price and you had to pay for shipping and handling. Most of time, there's no minimum when you do sample, but sometimes some of the companies do require you to have a minimum amount that before they ship you out anything. So once you get the hair, you need to test the hair. You need to flat iron, the hair. You need to wash the hair, you need to condition it blow-dry it. You need to curl it. You need to dye it to see if it can hold a dye, because a lot of these hairs you'll die on and then after their dye their trash. So you want to make sure that you do that. So that is very, very important. The next thing is once you do all that research and you decided who you want to use now you want to make it official so making it official. What I mean by that is deciding whether you want your business to be an LLC and S Corp. That'S a sole proprietorship or a corporation did I already say that? Well, if I didn't, I say it again so again: you're gon na have to do your research, because I can't tell you what type of business you should set it up as you do your research and decide what's best for you after you do that you need To decide on the name what name? Well I choose that's a hard one, because there's so many businesses out here and some of these businesses may have your name already. That'S the hard part, so you got to kind of think out the box. Just think of something. That'S unique to you think of something that that you'll remember that you know that others will remember based off of just you something that just sparks you know. So after you decide on your business name, there are several websites out there again that you're going to have to make sure that no one else has your name, because that is going to be a definitely No. I know if someone else has your name. That'S bad girl, that's bad, because if you decide to go with that name without doing your proper research and you start selling products and doing really really good making name tags, making business cards labels and things for your hair is what I mean by name tags like Labels, bundles and all this other stuff, and then you turn around, and someone comes after you, they're gon na see you for everything you have and they're gon na win because they've done it the legal way and you did it the wrong way. So next thing you do is register your business with your state. I live in Virginia, so I had to go online and Google is my best friend and YouTube. I went on Google and I looked at Virginia State, the state of Virginia to find out what I needed to do to register my business. So whatever states you live in, you need to do the research and figure out what you need to do to register register. Your business in that state, because every state is different, every state requires different things. Some are stricter. Some are a little more lenient, but that's what you have to do from then you have to get an EIN, which is an employee identification number. What that is is like a social security card, so, for example, you have a social security card. We all have a social security card. Well, at least, I hope you do well with a social security number. If a person looks up your information like, for example, you applied for a job and they look at your social security number and run it, they will find out everything about you. What jobs you had if you've had a criminal background if you've ever been arrested and stuff like that and a ein, which is an employee identification number, is pretty much the same thing, but it's for your business. An EIN can be used to get a banking account. A business banking account it can be used to get a business loan, so an EIN is very important for you to have for your business and is very helpful. The next thing you need to do is get you a business license a business license again. You have to check your state to see what is required to get a business license. I know in the state of Virginia, you have to have a business license in order to run for business, so that was a must and I think I paid like $ 50. It wasn't very much and there was a couple - other paperwork they had to fill out. One was a hundred almost fifty dollars, so total was about a hundred and fifty dollars, but it still wasn't very much. The next thing you want to do is open. You up a banking account or a business account. A banking account is very important again because, with a business, banking account you use for business transactions and it's good for tax purposes. So my accountant that I have that runs my business or he runs the taxes and business and checks my business books. When I first started she told me it was best to open up a business bank account and link my business make account to my accounting. So there's several accounting South Florez out there that will link your business account and your business together. If that makes sense, so any transactions that are made from that business account will automatically update into this to the business, the business page or the business software. That'S available that will keep up with your transaction so program that I'm using is QuickBooks, but again that's the one I like and that's the one that my accountant is using, so it works for me. The next thing you want to be is trade. You want to trademark your business and going back to what I was saying if a person has that you've chosen trademarking, that is just as important as that, because when you trade mark your business you're letting people know it is your business. It'S registered to you. You know you cannot use my business, so if you just thought of a business name, looks like okay, I'm rolling with it. Nobody else has it that's not enough. Mm-Hmm. You have to trademark that business name because again, if you start doing very well with your business and then someone else has that business name and even if you got the business name first, if they turn around and get that business name, and they can do it. The legal way by trade, marketing and business license yeah and all that other good stuff. Then they can sue you for taking their name and they can see you for everything you have and depending on how you registered LLC Corp, you know they could dig into your personal finances. So you just got to do your research. You got to do your research and it's very important to do that so that pretty much is it.
