Hi Nick today we're going to talk about dyeing human hair wigs. This is a hairpiece I had and you have two options: there's temporary hair dye or there's permanent hair dye. I already try to use a temporary kind of non bleaching type which tone down the red. A little bit, but it just will not enough so this time we're going to go for the real deal permanent, hair dye. You can pick this up from Sally's or any be a supply store. This is a color 3 in which is a neutral Coco color and I already had some developer and you can get 20 or 40 percent volume. I use 20. You will need a bold. You will need some gloves to protect your hands and then you will need shampoo and conditioner. You want to make sure that you're using a bowl that is not made out of metal, and you want to read your instructions on your box. This color is a dark brown and there's 2 ounces of the color dye. So I'm going to mix equal parts of developer and dye so 2 ounces or 1/4 of a cup of the 20 % developer. You want to make sure that you're using things that you're not going to use again in your kitchen, so be wary of that. You will find that the lid of your color developer has a sharp point on the inside that you just turn around to pierce the foil that has sealed it, and it does smell kind of you know chemically so make sure you're doing it in a ventilated area And you'll notice that I have a dark brown, but the color coming out right now is kind of a blonde golden color over the next few minutes. It will darken. So don't worry about the color in the beginning, and you can do this in a bowl for wigs or hair pieces or you can do it in an applicator bottle or even an old water bottle, and you just shake it up instead of stirring. But so I'm not applying it to someone's actual head, it's much easier just to dip my whole hair piece into this bowl, and you want to make sure that it's mixed very well, and here is the hair piece and I'm going to kind of DAB it. Starting at the roots and working my way down, and you want to make sure that you really get it in between and on all the layers of the hair and there's not a lot that you missed and if it ends up being a little too thick. You can add a little bit more developer or a little bit of conditioner to make a more thin consistency. I ended up doing that right at the end, but I didn't film it so you want to pretty quickly work it down through the hair and make sure that it's getting and that it gets evenly coated. You can see the inside part where I put in the extension clip and I've also sewn in a weft of additional hair at the back. I will make a video of how I do that, but I tried wearing it when it was kind of their toned down red and it just wasn't blending in with my hair. So we'll come back to back part in the next video. So I went ahead and jumped ahead a bit like a minute or so and by the time you are done, distributing your hair color. You should start to see it is darkening a little bit and not have that blond. So once we're done where you going to leave this in the bowl and cover it with a little bit of dick and want to check on it every 10 minutes or so and usually it takes 30 to 40 minutes depending on your package construction. So I've been checking on it periodically and you can see that it is much darker and it's been about 30 minutes and it is done so we're going to go ahead and make sure we're wearing our gloves and take this over to the sink and wash it In some warm water and shampoo and then when water and conditioner so here in the final results, you can see a little bit of my own hair in the bun area, because mine has a tiny bit of pink red temporary hair color in. But everything you see not pinned up is the hair piece and can see it came out, a very rich dark, dark brown and it's got kind of a warm chocolate shade to it. There is a little bit of my hair pee on the very front that kind of fluffy cotton can't be bit and then right at the edges by my temples, but everything else is the hairpiece and it matches my hair pretty well, I have to say: let me Just reiterate that this only works on human hair, wigs it does not work on synthetic wigs, don't ruin a synthetic wig and if you have any questions or comments, please leave me a note and if you like, this video give me a thumbs up and subscribe thanks For watching bye,

Roxane Howard: Great job, I learn a lot, You made it very simply and I appreciate that. Great tutorial

Teeyah2: Nice & easy tutorial to follow. Thank you so much because I am in a bind.

Jozette Williams: I love the tutorial! I have a darker human hair wig but I want to go about 3 shades lighter. I took a picture and the hair was way too dark for my taste (I got a good deal on the price). Do I dye in 3 different stages or just 1? Thanks for YOUR input!

Kirsty H: Thanks for this! I was considering ordering a remy hair silk part topper, but hesitated because I have red hair, and they do not ever seem to come in red shades. My thought was to order a blonde one and dye it copper. Did you have any issues with the silk (not lace, but actual silk) dabric staining? I'm told silk is very absorbent.

The1234567899262: I did dye my unit all over it and what I got was an unreal scalp, I would recommend not to dye the lace to avoid ruinning the natural looking scalp.

gOoOoooOoOoOon: After you dye a wig will it become like fried at the end or not as soft as it was before because I’m gonna dye this human hair wig and I don’t wanna mess up anything because you know these aren’t that cheap

Izzy: Does it work with food coloring?

Layla Rose: Hi! Is that a monofilament top or silk top? Is it ok to dye a silk top with the bowl method?

Jonatan August: Hi, how about the lace? Would it color it too? Does it need some heat?

Pat Blake: Can I use hair dye like L'Oreal from the drug store?

lizad777: Did it stain the silk scalp?

thomas pitt: 40% vol is used to lift to a lighter shade

Amelia Tom: Does the brand used matter ? For the dye

ItsAsh: I have a black wig and I want to dye the tips purple. Should I bleach them and then dye them purple?

Iti: I dont know why people refuse to call hair colors by what they are, they are color, not dyes, unless you are using henna. Colors actually change the molecules in the hair, dyes just coat it. Notice how you said, color 3n? That is correct, its not dye 3n. You can also use 10 volume.. with any color to just tone. Which i would do in this case, as using 20 now will just bleach it out even more as it deposits the color in the hair shaft. omg you said dye again! oh thats not the developer, its the color ...
