And you welcome to delightful in this tutorial, I will be showing you how to make a sown doll, wig from start to finish. The method makes a nice professional-looking, durable, wig and will work on any scale doll. You will need, pin elastic a thin stretchy fabric like this elastic lace, scrap paper, tape, pins threaded needle and, of course, the hair. To start, we need to turn our loose hair into west's. Take a chunk of hair, I'm using nylon in this tutorial and carefully separate and feather it out onto a sheet of paper, try to get it as evenly dispersed as possible. Take your tape and D, sticky it a little bit. We want to be able to remove this later then place two strips of tape down on either side of the center of the hair. I just eyeballed it here, but I probably should have measured next turn on your sewing machine and get ready to sew down the center of that little runway you just created. I set the stitch length, pretty small. I run it all the way down and back again it should look something like this now comes the trickiest part of the whole process. The goal here is to flip half of the hair over onto itself and secure it again with tape so that we can sew on top of it. Different types of hair can be spring air, making it hard to evenly, pin it in place. I actually tried to film this tutorial with Saran hair. First, it was incredibly hard to fold in half. So just do your best, it's easier to do this with shorter wefts. So, there's that, back to the sewing machine, set your machine to zig-zag stitch and make sure the stitch width is pretty small, then carefully insert your unstable folded, hair under the foot. While it's stitching, I pull the hair as flat as I can with one hand, place the foot over the hair so that you're stitching entirely on the hair, not off onto the paper setting the machine back to normal stitches. I'M going to run a final line down on top of what we've already done now carefully remove the tape. Finally, we need to remove it from the paper so wet it down with some water and tear it away, voila a perfect little wet. Well, hopefully, yours is more even than mine. That'S what I get for eyeballing, where the center is with this method, there's an obvious front and back side. You can try and scrape out the paper, but the paper does kind of show. So if you happen to have paper similar in color to your hair use, it tie the end threads together to secure the ends of the weft. Here'S the weft I mentioned earlier with Saran hair, pretty Crissy crossing in comparison, but since I'll be boil washing the wig. In the end, I'd probably still use it continue sewing west until you've got enough for a wig. I actually made too many here. You'Ll need about sixty to centimeters worth of west's for an average Monster High doll. Before we can continue. We need to make the wig cap see how my mannequin, doll's ears have been cut off. I do that to make the wig cap lay flatter on the head. You don't have to do this step if you don't want to, but I think it makes it look better. In the end measure the circumference of your doll's head using the hairline as a guide, this doll's head is 12 centimeters around. So I'm going to subtract one city meter and use that length for my elastic. The reason for this, of course, is so that our elastic stretch is tight around the head, and so the elastic ends together. When you try it on the doll, it should look. Something like this next take a scrap of your stretchy fabric and position it around the dolls head, put your elastic band on top of it and tug and position the fabric. Until everything looks about right. I put the sewn together bump of the elastic at the base of the neck, as a sort of marker to let me know how the wig cap is oriented. Take your sewing needle and some thread and begin filling the fabric to the elastic. I sort of do a whip stitch once you've gone all the way around trim the excess fabric pop off the cap and flip it inside out time to sew on the West. Pin your weft in place and begin hand stitching it to the cap, use the stitches on the West as anchors to sew and secure the hair in place. If some of the stitches on the wefts are looking a little droopy now's the time to tighten them up. While you sew I'm taking a little tacky glue and guiding it on the tops of the sewn West, this is just an extra measure to protect the hairs from falling out when I comb it later. You could have also added the glue before you sewed them on, but I think this is easier when adding your West's make sure to sew them pretty side facing up start at the ends of the wig cap and work your way inwards in a spiral fashion. If the end of one weft is kind of wimpy and thin just overlap it a little with the next also, if you have thicker wefts or areas of the West that are thicker than the rest, try to position that part on the top of the head. So we can use that hair to our advantage later when we make the part so eventually you've sewn around and around until the wig looks something like this with this little hole at the top. Here'S how we're going to finish the wig take one last weft and roll it up tight until it's about the size of the hole. If the weft is too long, just cut it off and seal the end, with some tacky glue once you've gauged the correct length of this final weft begin slowly spiraling and sewing it to itself. Ideally, you want it to be flat when you're done. If it's sticking up too far, pressed against the hard surface and try and push it in if you sewed it way too tight like I did and it won't budge, then uh just yeah there we go nice and flat. Now that the last weft is ready, we need to secure it to the wig cap. I take the wig off the doll's head to do this, flipping it back and forth to make the job easier, I'm stitching all the way around and when that's done a few stitches in the center to help it lay flat fantastic. Now we can put the wig back on the doll and voila. You have a very avant-garde. Hairstyle find the center of the spiraled West. We just sewed on and dispersed the hairs evenly away from the center as best you can pull it flat and fit a rubber band around the head to hold it in place. Next, I'm going to boil wash the hair. This will ensure that the hair lays flat and looks natural. Please make sure your hair can be boil washed before you do this, so that you don't ruin all that hard work actually make sure it can be boil washed before you even sew the West. However, if you don't want to boil wash it, I've heard, hair dryers on low settings can also get the job done. All that's left now is the styling, which can be anything you want. Let me show you how to make a part on this style of wig. Obviously, if we just run a line down the center you're going to see the gaps between the weft and that's no good, so here's what you need to do make a crude part. First, then, working from front to back grab two small pieces of hair like this and cross them to the opposite side, doing this overlaps and conceals the weft in front of it once you've worked the hair all the way back. It should look something like this. If you want bangs instead comb down, however much you'd like in front of the face, the more hair you take from farther back the thicker they'll, be making sure you haven't lost sight of the center, determine the sides and how far you'd like your bangs to go. It'S always best to start too long and work your way shorter. For this wig, I want to have a layered effect to show off all those pretty colors underneath, so i'm feathering the colors accordingly neaten up the edges and style. It, however, you'd like for some great hair, styling tutorials check out J latest toys. Channel he's really good with hair. Here is my finished wig. It turned out really good. I actually started this tutorial using random excess colors of hair. CornBeanSoup: So this whole wig thing gave me an idea..... Could you do a tutorial on how to cover up all those holes so you could just have a bald doll without it looking weird? Maybe even do a cancer custom? My mom has cancer but she hasn't lost her hair beucase the chemo treatment actually almost killed her but she has lost quite a bit of hair. Dolls are supposed to be somewhat inspirational or an idol influencing ones life to young females (and males! ) like the Barbie! I think a Cancer inspired custom would be a great awareness and to show all those poor cancer patients that they are still beautiful and to not stress over their appearance! Hmm...... I don't know..... I'll let you decide and figure this out! It was just one of my ideas that I thought I would share! So.... yeah! Hope This comment will be seen, if not I'll just repost this on another video lol. XD

Doglover101: “Will work on any scale doll” So what your saying is....theoretically.... I could use this to make a wig for myself?

Deanna Z: Btw, if you're making this to curl & style, don't use nylon. This will melt if it comes in contact with anything hot. Hope this helps!

Middarimado: What if I make a wig using my own hair. I wanna try. edit: I don't have enough hair

Rey Domingue: I like both. A downside of wigs is you can’t brush through them easily and an upside is they are easier than reroots and less expensive sometimes. Reroots are great and are fun to comb through, however the materials for reroots can be expensive sometimes.

Lyndsay Seed: I prefer a wigs 1. Because you can change the hair colour when ever you want 2. It's much easier to wash the hair if it gets mucky or dirty and you don't have to get your doll wet 3. It's a lot of fun to swap the hair from other doll to doll

Eleanora Dzen: this can work very well with premade wefts! THANK YOU! EDIT- why do you make it look so easy?

Bluebel Blue: Aw... Absolutely stunning. You have made her look so gorgeous. Thank you so much x

Sailor_Stine: Thank you Dollightful!! This vid is incredibly helpful :) Love it. Just one question: is it normal for the wig cap to lose some of its stretch when finished? It did for the first wig I (just) made, making it hard to keep the wig on my doll's head. I figure this is something I did, and not your excellent teaching!

Hope Racheal.: "I hope I was clear and you found this tutorial helpful" YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOU HELPED ME

Horses you will never know: This is the most comprehensive tutorial I've seen yet on how to make a sewn doll wig. Thank you so very much for being so thorough. It really helps even the bit at the end about styling and parting the hair, because let's face it, you go through all that hard work, get it to look reasonably good and then have absolutely no idea what to do with it or how to get it to look right afterwards!

the12letterofthealphlabet: Dollightful: To many hair, Me a person with dummy thick hair: No such thing

Isabelle-Blanche TM: Really helpfull ! Many thanks ! I love all these tricks !

Lizzy krueger: I might try this on a larger scale and make my own custom wig.

Suki B: I’ve tried this tutorial 7 times and it always ends up too small bc when I’m sewing the wefts I sew it too tight and all the tension really adds up. I tried again last night but I made the wig cap a little looser to make up for the tension and I think I’m on my way if I just keep trying. thanks again for this tutorial

Shelbey W: This was so helpful!!!! Thank you so much!

Nina Steinmetz: Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I'm making a custome Annabelle doll and I've been really puzzled on how to finish the hair, this was so easy to follow and fun

I'm a motherfreaking avocado: I'm just using this as a rough guide on how to make wigs for myself, cuz I'm making a Mikan cosplay soon, so I'm binging wig making tutorials, and this was one of the first ones that came up-

HeyMonaLisaCanI 67: Why is this so calming to watch? Also you are epic, it's like real sewn in weave

Amanda Autry: That was so good, and very helpful. Thank you. Now I’m going to try this instead of trying to add permanent hair to my doll.

Max Lastra: Wow this makes it look pretty easy. Nice tutorial!

Shxrtie Edits: Thank you! I'm planing on making my own doll and she changes quite a lot, heh, so this would be perfect! I'm trying to find a face drawing tips so if y'all have any tips or videos please link them ^^

Phoebe Baker: So cool. Thanks for the detailed tutorial.

NeonBlackHeartAttack: Awesome! I'll try to use this method to make a cosplay wig :D

WinstonChaychel: So I finally did it today after having the video in my DIY playlist for years! I must have some wimpy wefts that I purchased you can clearly see the wefts underneath the hair on the wig I made (platinum blonde wig). Hopefully styling the tar out of it will help. I can't add anymore wefts, as she has a massive amount of hair as it is now (curled wefts lol). Ahh, next one I'll have to make my own wefts

M X: You..... you are a amazing. This was the best tutorial for doll wigs I’ve seen

Scooter_Rat: You should make a doll with a different sewn or glued wig for every "mood" or whenever you want to change up her look a bit. That would be really cool!

Elfen Magix: If I knew this in the 90s, I would not shown and made my girls knit the hair back on the Barbies they cut the hair off! It takes the smallest knitting needles (2mm) to do this through the scalp pores of the doll. There are Youtube videos explaining how it is done. Your technique is how a real person's wig is made, BTW. Great work!

littlekellye_: Thank you so much! Tbh I'd rather sew it then glue everything like the wig cap and wefts and gluing the wefts on because I'm too impatient for it all to dry xD! It would take me about two weeks or so because everything takes so long to dry! This would maybe take a week or less depending on school work and everything! thank you again!

Katrin Orrell: Really cool tutorial. Thank you!

D o g g y: Amazing! Wish I could do this

TaniaR B.: Thank you so much for sharing. Gorgeous work. You are very talented. Hugs

Anna Richardson: I’m so glad I finally found a doll tutorial without any violence! I feel like in these videos they are ripping of the head, and doing other things. So thanks for making one where the head stays on!

𝕯𝖎𝖒𝖆: It's a beautiful wig ✨

blogGlitterPerolado: Uau! I love it!

Lisa Wintler-Cox: This is from 2016 I know, but just in case people haven't thought of it, you could use water soluble stabilizer. It comes in sheets and is made to hold up to machine embroidery or appliqué and then rinsed out afterwards. It holds and reinforces the fabric in the hoop while the machine does its work and helps the stitchwork look nice and even .

AsianSpaceBoy: I tried this method with yarn and it worked wonders! 10/10 would recommend

CY: Thank you I need to make some doll wigs for my daughter's dolls. This was so helpful.

Tania Das: This was so helpful cuz I made my first wig and it turned awesome

Vanquished Jelly: Thank you so much for this! I have been making yarn wigs for about a month now and I wanted to use ACTUAL doll hair and this helped so much!

Crocs: I've been binge watching your tutorials to decide if I want my doll to have a wig or reroot. I think I'm going to make a wig because I'd like to change out my doll's hair easily.

Cc Mc: Love it!

ghosting child: I legit just thought of this, but wouldn't it be cool if she used this wig for one of the stockbox videos? I dunno why, but I feel like it would be a waste to not use such a pretty wig. Just saying though

karen furtado: Unbelievably Fantastic!Thank you for some awesome tips!!⚘

Ryno The Drawer: U made it look so easy

S Miller: Been looking a lot of doll wig tutorials and yours has been the best one so far. I ended up using some old lycra lingerie for the wig cap for my niece's doll whose little brother played barber with her doll...

Jade Rand: wow thanks so much this was so helpful same with your first custom videos Thanks! <3

Sally Channon: Great work, thanks for sharing!

Icey Gacha: There is a much easier way of doing this: Hair: Take some hair and put on silicone Put hot glue (or some other type of glue that’s not water base that can withhold hot) on top and smoosh it around Once dry tape it off Glue it on the wig cap Wig cap: Put that clear plastic thing people use to cover up food(I forgot the name) Over the head Put a rubber band around it to secure it Put cloth on (could be cheap) Put a bunch of glue only on the place wear the head should be Let dry Cut of the excess cloth Your done This wasn’t hate in any way
