Hey everybody, its Angie and welcome to hot and flashy. I hope this video finds you safe and well and adjusting as best you can to the weirdness that's going on in the world right now. You know I have to address the elephant in the room pandemic going on and it feels a little strange to be making videos, but I have already pulled my viewers to see what you wanted me to do during these times in polling. My viewers, one of the biggest questions that I've gotten over the last couple of weeks, is how are we going to color our gray roots without being able to go to the salon, and I've got a number of solutions for you here today from things that take Five seconds you can just spritz right in or rub right in as well as things that you can use to color your hair on a more permanent basis. Everything is available via shipping, so you don't have to go out to the store and risk your safety and your health. By doing that, you can just order things up on Walmart or Ulta or a salon, and so you are gon na have to be brave though, and do your roots at home. So, let's get into it. I have washed my hair this morning and left my roots. Undone, which I hardly ever do even though I am staying home, I do just touch them up. I do the spray-on thing or I do the crayon or probably next week I will be redoing my color, the permanent way and I'll also be redoing. My highlights so there are a few different solutions for what to do about your gray roots as they grow in while we are all homebound, one of which is to just start embracing your grays and let them grow out. I mean what better time, if you had even thought about doing it to do it, and I know that's kind of a trend. That'S happening right now that people are starting to grow out their gray hair, I'm not ready to jump on that bandwagon just yet. I'M just enjoying my hair the way it is now I'm sure at some age I'll have to let this go, but for now I don't have you with it so anyway, that is one way to go. Another way to go is to do temporary route cover-up that you put on like every couple of days. These products are great, especially if your roots are pretty small, like mine are right now, my favorite one that I reach for over and over and over again currently is the Rita Hasan root concealer. This is a touch-up spray. The shade I have it in is light brown. Generally speaking, they tend to go on slightly darker than what you're expecting. So, if you are purchasing online, I would err on the side of going down a shade and you'll see how dark this one is. When I spray it on a very similar product to that that I also like very much is the L'Oreal magic root cover-up? What I love about these, the most is that they stay in and they don't budge. So if you get caught out in the rain or you can even take a shower and wash your hair once and they'll still be in these tend to last through one washing, the drawback to both of these products is that they do make your hair feel a Little bit heavy and a little bit dirty, so you just have to like get used to that feeling and not touch it. It doesn't necessarily look dirty, but it feels it when you touch it. The reason I like this one, a little bit better is, I think, that it's a little bit less matte than this one. So let me go ahead and spray this one in there is a little bit of overspray, so you just put your hand here is a little visor to keep from getting any spray on you and then you just hold it about six or eight inches away. Give it a spritz I like to start at the back, so that I can aim it right and look at that now. My gray is gone literally five seconds, no gray roots now what these are best for is, if you have a lot of gray hair. That'S not around your face, because this is hard to spray around your face and not get it all over the place, and this is great for the back view. So it's hard to get that with anything else, but a spray is really convenient. That makes it really easy to just touch those up quickly, so I highly recommend those then my second favorite is this: ever Pro gray away root, touch-up quick stick, so it has a kind of a waxy crayon tip at this end, then, at the other end, it's Got a spongy blender, so this one's really easy to use too. It is more time consuming to get it on, but I think this one tends to feel a little better where these ones are a little heavy feeling and weigh your hair down a little bit. This one doesn't really have that feeling as much so I'm just gon na go ahead and part my hair over here, where I have some other Gray's hiding and put this one on for you. I hold my hair down pretty tight when I'm using this one, and then I just go with the grain of the hair and color this on. So you get the idea, I'm not going to go all the way back but see how that covers really quickly and easily. And then, if you want, you can use the blender to kind of blend it down the shaft of the hair. But that's another really great way to take care of your Grace and again really quick, really really easy. The cran, of course, will be much much better for those of you who have Gray's like at your temples or around your hairline, and this is where the little smudger guy comes in handy, so that, if you end up getting some on your skin, you can just Use the blender to blend it in because this is the area that it's really hard to cover your Gray's. So you just kind of blend that in right up there, let your hair back down, and there now you've covered your Gray's around your hairline. So if you get caught in the rain, this one won't run either and it pretty much stays through one time of wetting your hair, but not as well through a full shower where you're shampooing. This one will tend to shampoo out. So that's another reason that I like these guys just a little bit better, because I have to spray it in less often now there are three or four other products that I've tried that I don't really recommend and they're all the powders. I don't. I don't know. I just don't like the powders. I tried the color wild powder. I'Ve tried this cover, your gray fill in powder. I'Ve tried the ever Pro so the same brand as the crayon. Their root touch-up magnetic pow, tried that guy and I also tried the Ardell thick f/x hair building fibers, and none of them really worked for me. The powders, just don't stay, put well enough for me and they come out every time my hair gets wet. So if I get caught in the rain or if I'm working out and I'm sweating, there is literally like brown powder running out of my hair. So then, once my hair has grown out a little bit more and my roots are about three quarters to an inch long, then it is time to actually color them with a permanent hair color. Now there are two products that I use for this that I really highly recommend and love. Of course, I've tried a lot of them. I'Ve tried DP hue, I've tried Madison, Reed, I've tried Clairol and I didn't really like any of those none of them covered. My gray, as well as my two favorite products, my favorite product, is the e salon. Color, the e salon product is so great because you get a custom hair color to match your hair, so you upload pictures to their website. I love these custom things that are individualized to me. You know you get such a better color match than you do trying to pick something at the drugstore, and so they customize it to you. You can tell them if you want to go, lighter or darker and they'll work with you and let's say you get your color and you put it on it's not quite right. It'S a little too warm it's a little too cool. They will then change it for your next box so that you always have the opportunity to tweak it a little bit, and I really like that. I'Ve tweaked my color, maybe twice over the years, but I landed on one that I love pretty early on and I was stuck with that one and I get 100 % gray root coverage and it really is permanent. It doesn't wash out after X number of shampoos. So it's solid Brown until my hair starts growing out. Okay, so that is my number one pick. You can try e salon for just ten dollars and I'll put the link in the information box below the video, and I have done a video on how I color my hair at home. Some of you might be interested in that so I'll link that video right up here for you when I'm in a pinch - and I don't have my e salon and I want to color my roots - the product that have been using is this Revlon permanent route erase. This just doesn't tend to last, quite as long on me as the East Lawn does, but it's so quick and easy to use, because this one you do have to mix it, but you don't have to do any measuring. So when you want to use it, you just depress the top here and you see how it has two little holes. So there's two chambers in here and one holds the color and one has the developer. I guess it is, I'm not even sure so you just squeeze some right into the cat. It comes with a brush. You mix it up with the brush, you put it on. You only have to leave it on like for five to ten minutes. I got ta say if you only leave it on for five minutes: you're not gon na get solid root coverage, leave it on for the full ten. I always leave it on for ten, maybe twelve a little bit longer, just to make sure that I get that you know more solid coverage, but even so, there's always some spots that it just doesn't cover very well. But in a pinch it is a great product and I really love it and there are at least three uses in each bottle. I actually got about five uses out of it. The last time I bought this, so you only have to buy it once and then you'll use it like every month every month and a half, so just this one bottle could last you about six months. So that is a really good deal. So I've been coloring. My hair myself for a long long time I generally have my stylist: do it about once a year, maybe twice a year, and I do it in-between because it's just you know it's expensive here. It'S like three hundred dollars, plus the tip. So that's three. Sixty an hour up to closer to four hundred bucks for me to get my hair colored and cut it's a lot, so I do the inbetweeners at home. I know some people aren't comfortable with it, but in these times where salons are close, you kind of have to do it at home and one way to do. It, though, is to contact your previous stylist and ask them to mix up a batch of your color, and maybe some instructions and I've heard that a lot of stylists are doing this, that they are delivering the product to people's houses. So they would charge you. You know obviously less than coming into the salon and I'm doing it for you because they're not going to do it you're gon na. Do it and then you just kind of leave the money, maybe on your front porch or something and your mailbox or wherever, and then they drop off your hair color, and so this is one way that you can support your local on your local hairdresser. You can buy gift certificates so any way that you can help them out, obviously do that. But if you didn't have a salon and we're looking for a solution for your gray hair, then you know these things are what have worked for me very well. Over the years anyway, I hope that helps you guys to figure out your gray root problems while we are trapped in our houses and can't get out to the salon, so that's it for today's video everybody. I hope you found it helpful and informative if you did go ahead and give it a like, don't forget to subscribe to my channel and hit the notification bell while you're down there. As always, I thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate your watching. Have a great day stay well stay safe, and I will see you in the next video take care. Everybody bye,

Cheryl M: Don’t stop the videos Angie! This is coming from a long time viewer and an MD. Self care is important right now and, let’s face it, we all have some extra time on our hands. I’ve even pulled out my nuface which I purchased a few years ago and it had migrated to the back of my cupboard when I moved and got a puppy.

Terrymoose14: Angie coming with the content we NEED!!!

Lana J: I've been using the L'Oréal root cover up lately on 3 inches of grey regrowth, in the color dark blonde. Is a perfect match for my hair and extremely easy to use. My go to cover up spray was out of stock at ulta - bumble and bumble hair powder in blondish which works very will for me without that 'heavy/dirty ' root feel. The B&B powder is very tricky to apply, so L'Oréal has the leg up there! I've always combed my product through my hair and it does minimize that dirty feel, as the previous poster mentioned. I also use the spray as a low light once in a while.

Linda Meyermann: I am 11 months in to transitioning to my silvers. I am loving it! But when I was covering my roots, I loved the L'Oreal spray and the ColorWow powder. Very helpful video, Angie!

Slm Slm: I’ve used the L’Oréal between salon visits and I too use it after showering on wet hair but immediately after spraying it I sort of buff it in with a dry washcloth. It helps blend it and keeps the sides from looking obviously “sprayed”. I use morrocan oil on top throughout my hair and then dry... it avoids that dirty feeling and takes minutes to do large areas of gray In my darker roots without touching my highlights.

Julie A.: I ditched the dye 3 years ago when I was 37. I feel so free. I think you'd look stunning with natural silver hair. When I did color my hair, I did like Madison Reed's Root Touch- Up. It worked really well.

Nancy Neale: Thanks for the helpful tips, Angie! Love the Revlon Root Erase!! I get a good 4 uses from it and need to leave it on 15 minutes for my coarse, gray roots. Keep the great content coming.

Sheridan Joslin: I'm going on 54 and have been coloring my hair (very much like yours!) for many years. Last time I was at the salon in Feb, I surprised my stylist by saying I'd like her to color my hair so it will look natural as I grow out my grays. That was good timing considering I won't be able to see her until May at the soonest. This video has great info if I change my mind.

Lola M.: Hey Angie, thanks for your great tips and recommendations as always. I used to colour my own hair years ago but a health issue has prevented that for some time. I’d like to try eSalon since I value your opinion, but I also, have highlights and I’m wondering why you don’t use it for yours. Also, have you heard of a semi -permanent rinse for men? My husband’s is fading and it was a subtle colour that covered the grey and lasted for about a month. Thanks again, Angie Hope you and your family keep safe and healthy during these trying times. Hugs and love from Lola, Kitchener, Ontario

M Schiel: I really enjoy using L'Oreal's Touch up spray. What I don't like is the colored scalp. To avoid this, I use a very thin knitting needle (2mm / 0.078 inch) that I put directly over the parting and then spray over it. This will keep the light scalp visible and keep the medium brown color great on the hair. I can only recommend this, it looks absolutely natural and will last until the next wash.

Sharon Shade: Love the Revlon root touch up. I wish there were more 10 minute color kits. 20 to 25 minutes to develop on your hair is a long time. It sometimes can be irritating too. I prefer less time with chemicals on my skin, but I still want a good result. Would love to see that Revlon formula in a full size application kit.

Lisa W: Hi Angie, I love how you’ve pivoted to include videos that are geared to our collective new reality. Next up, how to shape your bushy eyebrows at home?

Meagen B: Great video Angie! My hair grows SO fast (not complaining!) I usually get my roots done every two weeks. So considering I may not be able to go anywhere until June, I am contemplating embracing the gray. Ask me again in July.....stay safe and well!

Gaye MarianesFox: Oh no way I’m ready! Thank you so much for this video it’s so timely! I have the mascara type one and it definitely feels like you have something in your hair.

Julia Marin: I recently discovered your channel, and I have to say that I Absolutely Love Your Videos!! They are so helpful in my everyday life. Plus, I thought I was at the mercy of these rude hairstylists who have made one too many "mistakes" with my hair for God knows whatever reason. And they get angry (believe it or not) if I don't intend to visit them very frequently too, and try to shame me that they are buying or have bought a house, etc.. OMG. I plan to primarily do my hair at home too from now on. Thanks Angie !!

jred1838: You are so talented! Thank you for the shout out to those of us that have decided to go gray. It does take a while, however, during this time, I am glad I started this process 3 years ago. You look great!

Lisa Altri: Thanks for being on top of it, Angie. Perfect timing for this subject. I’ve been using my L’Oreal spray as my roots grow out and struggling with the question as you say, is this the time I should just go gray? It would be so much easier. I just don’t think I can. Not yet. I had not thought of connecting with my hairdresser to get a color batch. Great idea. Thank you!

Molly Pitcher: Per her suggestion, I used the Revlon permanent root erase. I kept it on for 5 minutes because I didn’t want to overdue the shade. It looks really good and blends nicely w the rest of my hair. I know I will probably have to reapply it sooner but it’s exactly how I want it. THANKS ANGIE!!!!!!

Diane Welzel: I've been coloring my own hair for close to 30 years. For the past few years my grays are sprouting so quickly that I need to touch up my roots every 3 weeks. Revlon Colorsilk used to have a root touch-up product that was awesome... it looked like a bingo dauber and worked like a charm! Of course that was discontinued but it was actually more expensive than the actual box of color - my beloved Revlon Colorsilk is still less than $3 at Walmart! So I just color my roots every 3 weeks and I've been good. Like Angie, my stylist does a major color once or twice a year and all is well. With the touch-up sprays, my hair doesn't feel dirty, it's more matte and almost crunchy. Yeah, not a good feeling. But like the poster below this one, I've been spraying it on after I comb out my damp hair and fluff and it works out great. Fab video Angie!!

Robin Dusch: I love the powders because they don’t weigh my hair down and covers well around my receding hairline. If you’re in a pinch, eyeshadow works too.

Heidi: Such a FANTASTIC video, I've been coloring my own hair for 10 years. It took a lot of YouTube tutorials and even a little chemistry refresher but I am so much happier with the color I achieve than when I used to get it done professionally. And it's such a great way to save a ton of money!

sherrydopwell: Hi Angie, I have to use these temp gray coverage options within 2 weeks of getting my hair color done. I prefer the Everpro powder and sprays. I prefer the spray with minimal roots, and the powder when the gray gets more massive. Lol! The powder is not as tacky or weighty for when I have more to cover. And, I never have any problems with the powder coming off like you have experienced, even through workouts (and my head sweats profusely). With the COVID-19 salon closure, I recently tried Madison Reed after consulting my regular stylist, and that wasn't bad. Definitely better than going gray for me! Thank you for your awesome videos, Angie. They are always very informative and interesting, and I look forward to every one!

Susan Slattery: Thanks Angie! I have some of these products and will give it a go since my salon cancelled my next appointment. You give me the confidence to try taking over my own coloring needs... you are right. I could save so much by just getting it professionally done only twice a year.

Angela McMinn: I’ve been using Madison Reed powder on my roots so I can get right up in front of my face. Even though I’m not 46 in 90% white 10% dark brown so I’m using a semi permanent from Sally’s Brand Ion so I no longer damage it. I’ve been switching up and adding a fun toner on to, lavender this time.

Jean Phillips: Great info! I like the sprays best too and fill in the hairline with some brown eyeshadow. Use caution with any of the temporary root covers if you have a habit of putting your sunglasses on your head. I’ve transferred it to my face when putting them back on

Moira Melvin: I'm so glad I stopped coloring my hair August 2018, and just let my hair go natural. Now I don't have to worry about whether or not my roots are showing. It's so freeing! So glad I took the plunge. Plus all the money I save no longer going to the salon every 6 weeks.

Karen Kaza: I love the Revlon system. I bought it when you did a video on how to use it. Apparently everyone else loves it because very early on when we first heard all our salons would have to shut down I went to get the product and it was cleaned out at every store I went to. Even Amazon advertised it and I ordered it and it was a slight variation -- it didn't have the one container to squirt and apply. Thank you for these tips. It will help me keep busy, well at least one day.

Alison Tideswell: I'm growing mine out, I'm 59 and have been colouring my hair for 40+ years and I'm sick of it, I am naturally dark and have had blonde highlights for the last few years to disguise the greys and the thinning hair! But recently my hair stylist has been putting in dark brown foils instead of blonde to blend in my natural colour, the blonde and the grey, it's a work in process and I am interested to find out what my natural colour is as I've forgotten! Also if I don't like the grey I can always colour it again but as I've got older I am leaning towards a more natural look, no more botox and less make-up, my bank balance is thanking me for it at the moment too!

Erin Lommel: Thank you Angie, I pray your daughter(s) are staying healthy as well as your whole family. You and your videos are a welcome distraction!

Diane VDT: Hi Angie! Thanks for being our lifeline! I've always wanted to ask you to try the foundation I've used for over 25 years. It's CoverGirl Outlast All-Day ultimate finish. Kind of a cream/powder in a compact. You and I have the same skin type.. thought you might enjoy it. xo Diane

Kelly Hensley: No greys yet (except my pups, greyhounds lol) but love e-salon permanent color & highlight kit to freshen up my blonde hair! Stay safe & healthy everyone!

Maria H: Good morning, Angie! Good to see you. I thought this was a very informative video...even if I do not color my hair, I can steer my friends (who do) to this video. Thank you and continue to stay safe.

Mary Hefferman: Hi Andie, love your videos. Been suggesting to my friends to watch them. Thank you for the information on your hair care.

Judy Boyle: Angie, I just started watching your channel and I am already a huge fan!!! I am 65 and been self-quarantining for 10 weeks. I had a serious accident and broke my neck, collarbone, and wrist. Have been coloring my hair forever (at the salon), and I miss my stylist/therapist. I have low and highlights in my hair so this root problem is tough. My grey is also around my face. However, since I am home bound, you have given me some ideas. I have thought of embracing my grey self, but can't convince myself. My roots are about 2 inches and I hate looking in the mirror. On an "aside note," I have eyebags (hereditary) and just watched your video on eyebags and concealer. I've tried everything and think I can buy an island in the Caribbean on how much money I have wasted. Thanks for the advice! I will be binge watching all your videos. I have the time.

Debbie Bifolck: I've used both Gray Away and WOW and they both work in a pinch between salon visits. In a couple of weeks I'll need to do something more permanent. I haven't dont this in years! Fortunately I was able to text my stylist for some guidance. I will be braving the storm soon. Just not ready to go gray! Stay safe! ❤❤❤

xaviethecat: Hi Angie. Thanks for another wonderful video! I also rewatched the one where you do both color & highlights. Unfortunately, The L'Oreal Touch On Highlights has been discontinued. Although a few knuckleheads are selling it for hundreds of $ on ebay! Apparently hair color is the new toilet paper.

Suzanne Talbert: I love the Revlon root erase! So easy to use. I’ll have to try the crayon to help my small whitish hairs that frame my face. Thanks for the tips!

Kathleen Zea: Thank you! I've been trying to decide what to do. I completely grew in my gray for a couple years to save money and (kinda) liked it, then decided it's not for me as soon as I had the buckage to go back to the salon. The touchup stick and Root Erase look great. Thanks again for posting such useful information.

Kathleen 168: I got a giggle thinking about getting caught out in the rain and having my hair color running down my face! Thank you so much for sparing us such embarrassment. You really are a dear.

Kaye Donald: I have used the Loreal root spray in dark brown. I had a really embarrassing moment when I arrived home after a day of shopping only to find 2 dark rings around my eyes because the root spray had rubbed off onto my sunglasses when I put them on top of my head. Learn from my mistakes ladies

Kim Lizak: Thank you for continuing on with the videos! I enjoy the little bit of regular life these videos bring. These tips are great! That hair crayon is on sale on Ulta website.I am using my time at home to try new make up looks. We're all going to come out of this pandemic looking fantastic.

Sandra Mortensen: I also really recommend L’Oréal Excellence for a total gray coverage. And the Conditioner in the box is really good.

fgfg fgfg: my mother is 90..still looking fabulous and she dyes her hair blond... still...I love the way she stays young

Carolyn Mogan: My stylist had a little package set up. I paid through Venmo picked up at her front porch, at a designated time. Kit had color, developer, paint brush, q-tips and pink gloves. So easy and totally worth the 45 bucks because it was my color she normally uses at her salon. Also like you said Angie a way to support her business. Wish I could do the highlights but not that skilled ! Thank you for the information passing along to my sisters.

labsnabys: I've never been so glad to have ditched the dye than I have been during this lockdown!

Amie Schantz: ESalon came! Followed your video used my husband’s assistance, and it was easier than I thought! A silly thing when we are not going anywhere or seeing anyone - but having my hair look normal when I look in the mirror is a definite little bright spot. Thanks!

starfish8D: Thanks for the great tips, Angie! Btw, you look beautiful with a side part to your hair, love the volume it gives too! :)

Ingrid Williams: Thanks Angie, look forward to your videos especially in these times. Please keep them coming

Denise D: My favorite is the Revlon Root Erase also and amazing that we get more than one use out of it let alone 5!!! Such a great price. I'm going to look into the Everpro Gray Away Quick Stick as it looked easy and I'm gray on the sides too. Grateful for hair toppers too that cover up thinning hair and grays at the same time. LOL !! You look lovely as always, thinking of you so much. Sending big hugs and love to you Angie xoxo

Ann Goodman: I thought about going gray for several years. When I was in Florida this winter for several months with no touch-ups, my daughter commented that the grey that was growing out around my face was really attractive! That did it! Before all this is over, I'll have 6 months of hair growth without coloring under my belt. It helps that I have longish hair that I usually wear in a topknot.

Andrea Rodgers: Hi, Angie, I ordered the Revlon Root Erase. I'm sure other ladies ordered that or the eSalon color. Would you do a video next time you do your roots showing us step-by-step how you do the roots. I've never colored my own hair and would love a tutorial!

srvsgal: ESalon is fabulous. Never going back to boxed color. In a pinch, the Loreal Root Rescue is not bad. Not sticky like other root sprays.

Sandra Mortensen: I found if I take an old tooth brush, spray the brush and then use that to brush the gray hairs next to my face I’m able to touch up the grays at my temple without spraying my face. Good luck

M D: I just love this video! Thank you! You’re very good at doing your hair and it turned out beautifully. Yay, $35 instead of $300

susan wingblade: I've been using Revlon Root Erase and really like it. I tried the Loreal spray on and couldn't get the spray to come out without leave a big spot where I sprayed it. I didn't think it looked at all natural but I have friends that like it!

Merry: I feel like this is not the time to embrace my gray! I feel lousy as it is, I don’t need to be fighting any other fights right now!

erica: I have dark hair, and have been dying my roots for years, staying with the natural colour. I've tried dark blonde highlights to hide the growth, which makes my hair (and skin) look dull, so that's not an option because my natural dark hair suits my skin. I'm very grey at the top of my head only, so I can't grow out my grey because I'll still be two-toned, which sounds horrible! (And to lighten the still-dark hair to be all-over grey will destroy my hair's texture.) I've also tried colouring my own hair, but I ended up ruining the quality of my hair. So I pay a fortune every 5-6 weeks just to be grey root-less for maybe two weeks, because my hair grows so fast. Honestly I wish I knew what to do - I love my 'natural' hair colour and feel too young to go grey, but I am throwing money away for very short-lived results.

Alicia Bush: I tried to grow out my gray too, but I'm not ready. :) I only have about a half inch of my natural roots showing. I will touch up my roots soon. Thanks for the videos. I always look forward to them, especially now!

Luna Dargent: I have grown out my gray and decided I HATE it lol. Cant wait to get back to my stylist. Thanks for making videos. Your happy beautiful face is a light in all this pandemic darkness

Sharon Bollum: Thank you, Angie. I'm crossing my fingers that my stylist will be able to open shop before I have to attempt to color my grey at home LOL. I haven't colored my own hair since "The Year of the Horrible Hair" back in the 90's. I was attempting to highlight my hair. It was supposed to stay in for 25-30 minutes so I decided to hem a pair of pants while I waited. I lost track of time and left the color in too long! I rushed to wash it out when I realized it had been in my hair closer to 45 minutes. When I took off the towel and looked in the mirror I looked like Tony the Tiger with orange stripes all around my face! It was absolutely awful! I begged my husband to go to the store for me (I didn't want to be seen in public). He reluctantly agreed out of sheer pity. Thirty minutes later he called me from a payphone in a panic. He said, "Do you have any idea how many different colors of blonde there are to choose from? How am I supposed to know which one to buy?!" Well, I didn't know either so I asked him to do his best and choose whichever one he thought would be like my natural hair. My natural color was commonly called "Dishwater blonde". An unfortunate combination of brown that's not quite brown and blonde that's not quite blonde. So, I said just use your best judgment. I trust you. He chose ash-blonde because it sounded like that would be a dark shade of blonde. Ashes are dark usually, right? The color swatch on the box looked a lot lighter than "ash" sounded, but I knew I couldn't send him back to the store. So, I used it... and went from Tony the Tiger to this ultra-weird Bimbo blonde color that looked as fake as a three dollar bill. All I could do was cry. I knew if I tried a third process of any kind it might literally ruin my hair. I was stuck. It would have been nice if we'd been under quarantine then! But no such luck. I had to take my kids to and from school, attend PTA meetings and sell Real Estate. All while looking patently ridiculous. When I finally went to a hairdresser after waiting for what I thought would be long enough, I was told my hair had been overprocessed. She refused to do any "color correcting" for fear my hair would break off altogether. She said I would have to let it grow out. It took a full year of awful short hair cuts to get back to the mousy brown I was trying to get rid of in the first place. I vowed to never color my own hair again! So here we are. Stuck in a whole new reality. I'm due for a root touch up in a few more weeks. I think I'll stick to the spray-on solutions and hope to God my stylist is able to reopen shop before my hair gets too far out of hand. Geeze. I think I may be suffering from PTSD! Thanks for all the great suggestions!! In His love and service, Sharon Bollum

REIKI WITH CARY: Guess it will be the spray on color for me for while - and then I’m figure the rest out! Thanks for this video.... at 62&1/2 I am going kicking and screaming with the white/grey roots! It’s all good! Keep Yourself Well & Present in Love, Light, & Gratitude!

Stephanie Cleary: Angie, you should check out a fairly new product, Clairol Root Touch-Up Color Blending Gel. It is a temporary color, which means it lasts about 2 weeks (longer for me because I only wash my hair twice a week), so it's not damaging to your hair like semi permanent or permanent dyes may be (for people who are concerned with that. What I love about it is that it's in a tube with a brush at the end, and you squeeze the product through the brush to get it on your roots. I have gotten 3 applications so far with one tube, and I still have 1-2 more left! The other great thing is that they have a red/auburn color (i'm a natural redhead), which is almost impossible to find in anything other than a permanent color! You can find it on Amazon or Target online. They also have a touch up powder as well that matches the gel.

Margaret: Thanks for sharing your tips, tricks, experience and knowledge in such an honest way!

Kristina Danzara: I tried the Revlon Root Erase per your last root cover-up recommendation. Got the Light Brown and it matched my hairdresser's color perfect! 2 washes so far so good. Will wait to see if it lasts 10 washes. before I try this I had actually thought about contacting my hairdresser and asking if they can drop their dye solution or if I can pick it up, but I was thinking that it sets up after a certain period of time so that wouldn't work.

WAP: Thanks, Angie. Looks like we’re going to have to learn how to do this ourselves!! How about a video, too, on cutting one’s hair.

Sarah B: I ended up cancelling my April 1 appt, but I paid my stylist her usual fee anyway, just to help her stay afloat. She is very affordable, and it is in my usual expenses, so no big deal for me. I'll keep doing that until I feel I can go out again. Until then...ESalon!

swdhj: 6:15 Powders and fibers can be good for thinning hair and curly/textured hair, as opposed to a straight part

Queenofstitches Warrior: Thank you, very helpfull! I used the color Wow powder when my hairline was thinning (hormones and vitamin def) I don’t have grey hair that much, 4 on the top or so. Don’t like the powder because it stains and doesn’t stay but it gives your hair a fuller look, if i wear my hair up in a bun. I’m going to look in to the wax stick:) What color are you using in that stick?

Janet Johnson: Hi Angie, I have been using the sprays for a long time, they are the best. However when I first used them my husband who is a lot taller than me, asked why my scalp was black. I now place a very thin wooden bamboo stick along my parting before I spray. No more black scalp.

Modern Jewelry Creators: I would love to see you do your highlights!!! I’ve been wanting to do them myself for awhile now

dorothea salzberg: I am 80 and been having my hair colored in my salon for years. I am not sure what product to use for my age group. It has been 7 weeks since my last color. If I go with just roots is the safer than trying total covering with a permanent hair color product. I have a good friend who uses Lorel Excellence. What are your suggestions? Just roots or cover all?

Roberta Nor: So, so pretty! Your hair and makeup...perfect! I'm a TV personality and wish you lived near me so I could have you do my makeup. I've gotten so many great tips from you since your presentations are always super thorough. Thank you!

Andrea Rodgers: Much needed information! Thank you for adapting your content during this time! Smart!!

Debra Rozich: Hey Angie, I have been looking at your past content on hair color. Thank you for summing up our choices. Your the best. Stay safe. xo, Cowgirl Deb

Renee CA: Oh my goodness, this is so timely! I've been sitting here freaking out since eSalon sent me brown/red hair color for my dark, neutral blonde roots-ACK!!!! My grayish-blonde roots are coming in now, and WHAT A MESS!!!!!! Ok, so I guess, I'll be spraying my roots for the next 6 months? Or maybe put in a demi-permanent color, and try to use the spray? Dang, I don't know-any suggestions??

Palafox223: Your help with the root issue is much appreciated! On your upcoming self dye...our hairdressers in our area are adamant - don't do it! - & I don't understand why.

Glenda Hawkins: It’s the time to embrace the grey! LOL. I did that at least 5 years ago. Long silver fox hair. Completely natural. And gets thicker every year! No more hair color fallout. After coloring it shades of blonde for many years! I get crazy complements EVERYDAY. Never before as much in my entire life. **I do have to admit it’s gorgeous!** Elsa Hair! You and I are the same age and both look terrific. *humble much*

Lissyloo Glam: Great video while we are stuck at home. Thanks :)

Deborah Craven: Angie , I have a very old memory from years ago and I wonder does anyone remember a product called Roux Fanciful !! I started hairdressing 40 years ago and it was a very popular product for more mature ladies between tints ! I always remember the blonde one called frivolous fawn ! What a blast from the past ! Take good care , love debs x

Nurse Lisa: This was so helpful, thank you!!

platinum1111: just what I needed, thank you

S Wood: I recommend ColorWow powder. I have had much more success with that than I have had with sprays, especially in terms of precision. You can even make temporary highlights.

C Mac: Do you ever trim your own ends and long layers? Please share anymore DIY hair maintenance as this is perfect content at this tine.

Tina: I use Color Wow to color my grays.... And my grays grow FAST lol. I also do a Clairol root permanent color every 45-60 days. Thank you and love your channel ♥️

modtomodern: In Vancouver , Canada our hair salons were closed 2 weeks ago. I am 59 and am now I am watching my roots with interest, to see what's growing in and in what colour and we will deal with what happens. I do notice that my hair is falling out more. In a telephone conference with my doctor ( on other medical matters) I mentioned my hair loss. She said that this is natural in times of stress and is cyclical. AND that her hair is falling out too so not to worry too much of this happens. And lets all stay safe and wear lip stain (not gloopy gloss) under our face masks.

DT: Love the videos. Don’t stop. It’s what I look forward to.

Lydia Moody: I've been using eSalon for a few months now. The coverage is the best for grey's. The Loreal spray is great.

Colleen Johnson: I don’t have gray hair but thank you for this thoughtful video Angie.

Maureen I: Angie.. I enjoyed this video. I recently tried the L’Oréal and it wasn’t to bad, but as my roots grow in, my daughter who is my stylist, I’m going to ask her about the Revlon color you suggested. The L’Oréal is just not enough at the moment.. lol.

LuLuBell: You turned me on to the Revlon root touchup and I love it. used to use Clairol before I saw your video. And now I recommend the Revlon product to everybody. I love the fact that you could use it more than once.

Linda Liffers: I subscribed to eSalon at your recommendation and it is my go to. My hair has never looked better, shiny and healthy, which I did not get from drugstore ones. I also like the Revlon Root Erase that you recommended for in between - so easy! Never tried a spray yet. Now to figure out how to trim my hair........

Kim Hough: Great tips and suggestions Angie!

Madam Della TV: Im loving the crayon ! I use the spray currently all though I do feel my hair feels heavy and stiff.. And i get spray on my bathroom stuff whilst attempting to cover roots

joni4taz: I just checked with my salon and was told that the salons mixing color and delivering it to clients or mixing color and having the client pick it up with no human interaction should not even be doing that. The salon could get fined up to $750 per case! That's in Ohio.

lisamarie sanchez: Thanks for the info. I was interested in ordering on Amazon the Rita Hazan Root Concealer Spray but says currently unavailable and don't know if or when it will be back in stock. I will probably order the Everpro stick on Amazon Prime for $8.97.

Barbara Francis: Hi sweet Angie. Thanks for the tips and tricks. They are especially helpful now! I colored my hair myself and boy did I make a mess, ruined three towels and splattered some on my bathroom cabinet door. I tried the salon but it came to $22.00. Is there a code to use I additionally to the link? Thanks a million!

Nancy B: I LOVE your idea of contacting my stylist. Though she's only recently begun coloring my hair, I've been thinking and worrying about her finances. I will reach out to her today!!!

Sue Harrison: It may be because I used the mid blonde colour but that root spray made my hair break off and I started thinning exactly where I put it. I just do a permanent root colour now. I am only grey on my part so just doing it where I need it means my hair is growing out in much better condition than going to the salon every month where they did a whole head every time.

J Hambet: I'm with you Angie, I just can't FORCE myself yet to let the greys be grey...lol Would be nice, but last time i was at the store, I bought an extra box of my color, just in case. Still love your videos i know it's been quite a long time since i've come by.....but now with all the "extra" time, i'll be looking at all that i've missed. stay safe!

Cheri Schmidt: The Revlon Root Erase is the best - last’s 6 weeks at least - no need to use daily sprays or crayons & super easy & fast. Also use to tint my brows
