Hey everybody welcome back to taz's wig closet at wing studio one. I was in the middle of doing some other reviews today when the doorbell rang - and i know what that means: hair mail and i'm anticipating getting a style. I kind of fretted over this for a while. What wigs am i going to take with me to las vegas and the last time i went to las vegas. I took jon renau's rachel and, while i still have rachel in the 12 fs8, i kind of wanted a fresh color. I really love palm springs blonde, so i went ahead and ordered that style for myself to take to las vegas. So i thought i would do an unboxing while we have you right here so here it is in the box and i just started it a little bit with the box cutter, so i can get into the package, but isn't this fun? I love hair mail too, and it seems like i have millions of wigs that i could choose from to take to take on vacation with me. But you know a lot of times the wigs that i have um. The wigs that i have are wigs that i keep on hand to show all of you they're, not necessarily ones that i'm excited about wearing. So i'm really excited about this one. I love rachel uh rachel is a hand tied wig by jon renau. It'S very very comfortable, it's beautiful if you have it down and it's extraordinary in an updo there's a lot of great realism. So if the wind is blowing a little bit it just no there's just no dead giveaways on this one. So, let's see so, you can already tell that it's inside out laying in the box um yeah, there's a net, it just kind of came off, but there's still a net to secure the fiber around and then look at that cap. So there's a glimpse. At that hand, tied cap you've got a hand-tied single monofilament top a hand-tied lace front and then a hand-tied base mesh kind of a mesh base on this. It'S beautiful palm springs blonde. I was looking for a the lightest ash blonde. I could - and this is going to be amazing - look at that color guys, we've seen palm springs blonde before it's um, it's a medium to dark ash blonde, and then in that, then you have a almost a white highlight and it looks like there's a violet toner That has been gone through it there's just no hint of any brassiness um, there's no gold at all in this color. So some of that contrast that you're seeing there is just the ash blonde next to the white in the absence of white. This would just be a beautiful medium ash, blonde color with no gold in it. Now what i love about this is the rooting look at that rooting an 18 root. So it's like a dark ash, blonde light ash brown, but it's totally ash and tone again. No hint of gold or brassiness anywhere on this color. Okay, let's go ahead and apply. Did you want to see the inside of the cap, though? First just real quick. So we talked about that cap a little bit um the lace front runs temple to temple, but not back into the ear tab. There'S a seam that adjoins it to the single monofilament top beautiful hand. Knotted cap here even the cluster knots down around that mesh base done very well and then everything is velvet. Lined your ear tabs your extended nape with velcro style adjusters. If you have like a jon, renau julianne same thing, same fit same cup and everything okay. So you notice, i didn't, make any adjustments on this love it all right. So i made no adjustments on this cap and it fits me fairly. Well, i think i'll go in and just cinch them in a little bit, but for the most part this is just feels very average right out of the box. You could let it out to probably average large and you can cinch it in down to a petite average wow. I can't wait to start working on this one i'm going to go ahead and make that adjustment, though, because i'm already sensing it moving around a little bit as i'm trying to style. I like how everything is enclosed in that cap too. So uh there's really nothing exposed other than the very top of that. Adjuster strap look at that lace, front absolutely gorgeous and the monofilament you can definitely see through to it. So i'm going to work with this a little bit right in front of you um i'm going to go ahead and take the tag off first, so that doesn't get snarled and tangled up okay. So i'm just going to gently shake this one on the shorter styles, i'll, just i'll, probably be a little more vigorous in my shaking but a hand tied longer style like this. I just want to gently shake, there's no wefts or permatease to kind of have to work through, so i just gently shake it upside down. Now those fibers are still compacted against that cup, even though it's hand tied there's a look at those knots. Beautiful, isn't it so i just will gently go at the root and go against how it's sewn in i know a lot of you will get me and because, when i say back comb you're thinking of the teasing, i just mean combing it at the root against The grain of the fiber, that's kind of what i mean when i say back calming so i'll. Try not to confuse anybody with that, but i just want to generally loosen up that fiber and if you could feel this cap um years ago, when i used to have to wear pantyhose. That'S what this reminds me of it's the consistency of pantyhose. I'Ve never had any trouble with these holding it holding up really well and there's just no beating it for the realism, but it's very stretchy and comfortable yet breathable. A lot of you ask me about hand-tied caps. Now, although i think hand-tied caps can be a little warmer than ventilated caps, i've also had open style caps that were very hot because they had so much permatease. So i really don't feel like that's a deal breaker for me in a hot climate. I think a a mono top is actually a little warmer to me than the hand-tied cap is okay, so you can see that it's starting to look like rachel, but i don't think it's wearable just yet. I really feel like i have to do something with the front, see how wispy fine those those bangs are and they're kind of bent from being in the box. You can get that sometimes, so what i want to do is kind of just mold and shape that front piece with my hand to see if i can direction the root and just train the bang to kind of swoop up and over a little bit. So it's already starting to and because that bang is just so feathery, that's exactly how i want to wear it. I want to feather it back. I can see where those are pretty stubborn, so i'll just have to divide the hair, make a part where it makes sense for me and just start training it very easy to run a comb through now. These curls are more of a wave just kind of like a broken spiral, very, very loose spiral. I'Ve seen several rachels and they all have a variable kind of curl pattern to them, but they're all easy to run run your comb through. So you don't have to worry about losing the curl pattern too much by running a comb through rachel. Now sister style to rachel is heidi. I think you all remember that and heidi has a lace front, mono top, but then his open wefted sides and back and has a lot of permatease. So, even though the basic uh, the basic measurements of rachel, are the same as heidi you're going to see some differences just because there's no permatease, it's going to lay a little bit differently on rachel already coming to life. Isn'T it so? What i think i'm going to do is just continue to work on the front and make sure that that is taken care of to where it's predictable, predictable and manageable. So, like i said, rachel is beautiful right out of the box a little bit of combing worn down, but absolutely spectacular for an evening. Look, i mean you can get just as elaborate as you want she's really fun to play with, and i would have to secure this bun a little better if i were actually going out like this, but it's absolutely gorgeous gorgeous and you can style it in. Like a partial updo, because there's no wefts you're not going to get that feeling of anxiety when you're out or in my west, showing because i have an updo, you know that kind of thing where they really took down those bangs, though, look how wispy there's no Body in them that's a little bit different from the one that i currently have.
