Hi everybody welcome back to taxes, weight closet. This is Taz today, I'm going to show you how to add some routing or some dimension to the color of your synthetic wig styles. So, there's a lot of different reasons why people might like to add a little bit of dimension or the appearance of regrowth to the color of their wigs. The appearance of regrowth, sometimes out a little, adds a little bit of a realistic touch to the wig plus a little bit more dimension to the color. There'S a lot of different ways to achieve this, and most of them are either permanent or semi-permanent. I'Ve heard anything from furniture and fabric markers to like a semi-permanent hair color with a root touch-up kind of a thing. Now I opted for a less permanent, a temporary, easy and subtle solution to that, and actually this this idea came to me from a viewer. She watched my video on how I applied a very light flesh tone, color eyeshadow to the parting space of a permit, e-stop wig, to get the illusion of scalp. She wrote and said you know she had heard that you could probably do that for routing as well. To add the appearance of regrowth - and I thought gosh that is just genius, so I want to try that out. So I did on this wig. This is a Brigitte by Revlon in the color champagne blush. It is not a rooted color. So I said about adding a little bit of root to it: it has a lace front and it has a permit. A stop. Sono monofilament features so you're going to already see a little bit of a shadow there, and that's just where I kind of started out. My experimentation and I thought gosh we should probably do a video on it by using this method. It'S just going to be a very subtle look and it's going to be temporary, meaning that it will wash out. It might even shake out a little bit because we're using a powder based eyeshadow, but the things that you're going to need to put in a little bit of a shadow of a root is like a rat. Tail type, come just to make a nice straight part. In and you don't have to have this type of come, any comb can do so. If you don't normally wear a very straight perfect part, that's okay, too! You can use any kind of comb or even just your fingers to create a parting space. Then I want you to select two different sizes of eyeshadow brushes, so the first one is this very flat kind of wide flat eyeshadow brush. Now I would normally use this to maybe smoke out a color and the creases of my eyes, but we're going to use this as the number one the number one step on, how to add that regrowth, then you're going to choose a wider, bigger brush now this Is actually more of a foundation brush, but it's very thin and very wide, and that's just the effect that I'm going for so the next thing you're going to do is select the eyeshadow that you are going to use to put in this regrowth and the color Of the eyeshadow that you select is largely going to depend on what the color of your wig is. So, for instance, if you have a very light colored wig, you know maybe a platinum or a very light cool blonde color. You might opt for a very ashy. Almost a grayish, a light grayish brown eyeshadow to do the routing and then, if you have more of a medium toned blonde or a warm tone blonde, that medium brown, that medium golden brown eyeshadow would probably work the best and, if you're looking to add a little Bit of a subtle root to like a meet a light to a medium brown brunette, then you might want to select almost a black shade just to give some of that dimension. So today I'm going to use my Ulta eyeshadow palette. It'S called gilded gold and the color that I'm going to use is called scorched and it's a medium golden brown. I selected that, because this is a bit of an ombre color, you'll notice that it starts light, but then underneath that has some darker blush tones to it all in all. This is a pretty ashy blonde neutral too ashy it's one of those really unique colors, but on the top it was very light. So I'm going to use that medium brown. So after you have all of your tools laid out everything you're going to need and you've kind of selected, the the colors that you're going to use for this regrowth. The first step, then, is to create a part of space. So in this case I have a permit, a stop wig and you could use it on any method. It could be a full monofilament top. It could be hand tied, there's really, no there's really no limit to how you can use this method. But the first thing is: you'll want to create a parting space, so I typically park my left-of-center, so I got in there with my rat tail comb and created a part for myself, okay and there's a lot of permit ease on this wig. So I really have to kind of separate that permittees to get down to the base of the cap, where I want to start adding my route next step is you're going to want to select that that smaller, more focused brush that eyeshadow brush you're going to dip. It into the color that you're going to use and you're going to force that down into that part as far as it can go, but go ahead and just force it down into that part all the way and you this is going to take a couple of Passes to really force that eyeshadow down into that part, you're going to see a root, a color of a root taking place there all right. So once you have that root started now, I've already got this root started here, because I know how difficult it is with a camera alright. So once you have that started and that you've tamped that color down into that parting space as far as it can go, the next thing is you're gon na want to get your bigger brush, okay and you're, going to do the same thing, but this time once You dab that into the eyeshadow this time, you're going to start down in and then paint your way out, just go up about a half an inch to an inch that extends the route just a little bit. So it comes up about it. A half of an inch and that's really all you need because, as you get farther and farther out with this technique, I think the less realistic it's going to look we're going for a subtle hint of a route, just just a little bit of a via illusion. That there's regrowth so again the first step tamping down that color in taking it several passes, then going behind it with the bigger fan more of a fan brush here and pulling that out on both sides of that part. So it's going to give you something like this. I mean if I hadn't told you that I added a little bit of a subtle route to this style. You probably would have thought this is the way it came right out of the box, but in reality it was the same color as you see run right up here to the the lace front, it was very light, a very light blond. So here is the final and last step that I recommend now, because this is a shadow and it's powdery and you really put a lot of it in there to get to the desired color that you want. We want to go behind that with some wig spray, and this is kind of like the whole premise of setting your makeup with some makeup setting spray after you're done applying this wig spray will go in it'll lay on top of those pigments and kind of hold It into place it is not going to make it permanent by any means, but if you spray that wig spray in all over that part and allow it to dry, it should make sure that those powdery particles are well adhered to. The hair and won't tend to you know, just fall out or brush out now. I do think that, after a couple of wears, you will have to reapply this ever ever so slightly to maintain the illusion of route. So this is a very simple way of adding some regrowth or the illusion of routing in your synthetic wig colors, it's a very simple method, easy to use and you don't have to be afraid that you're going to mess it up. In fact, this might be a good training ground to go on to some more permanent ways of adding routing and the future. Everybody have a great day see you next time on tassel a closet, you you

kk doc: I did something similar using L’Oréal root touch up spray on the part, and it worked well giving dimension to the underside roots too. I have to admit though, that I use eye shadow a bit to fill in growing in bio hair. You picked a great color for that particular wig. Thanks again, Taz. Great minds think alike!! Lol

Susan Hojdik: Hi, Taz. I have done this also but now, have had great results using Great Hair Day by Joan Rivers on my wigs. You can use multiple light layers in different shades. Works great. The beauty of your ideais, that there are so many shadow choices and really be custom. Thanks for another really great info segment.

Yoga Girl: Hi Taz! Thank you so much for this great video. I’ve been wondering about how to do this. You gave me the confidence to try it. Rooting makes the wig look so much more natural and modern.

Pamela Prescott: Good morning Taz, I've been using eyeshadow on mine for quite a while great idea huh?. I love that wig and it looks fabulous on you, so realistic .Have a wonderful day God bless prayers continued for your son

Penelope Pivots: Wow! 1year ago you posted this & it helped me today! Thank you Taz! Caliente is out of stock forever so I had to buy a, unrooted paula young sister style until my hot Caliente arrives! You've been a lifesaver, it was so easy & looks so much better!!!

Cynthia's Tarot: That wig is so luxurious and beautiful ! I love it on you ! When I was blond, I had to touch up every two weeks ! I can't believe that I did that for about 12 years of my life ! This is a very interesting and helpful vid ! You never run out of ideas ! You are so smart and creative on every level ! I wish you a beautiful, incredible day, my dear sister !

Dawn Vierra: What a great idea! It's easy and looks wonderful. You look like a teenager in that wig. Its adorable. Love the ombre

Jackie Marsh: Loved this Video Taz!! Sooo Realistic!! Thank You Sooo Much for Teaching All of Us This!! You Look Gorgeous!! Love!! XOXOX!

Lesli Kay Olney: Great job Taz! I have already been doing some rooting. I restored about 7 wigs after watching your videos. So I practiced on those. It actually looked really good. I can't even tell you how much money you saved me Taz! lol Love you precious lady. You are an angel.

Jean Jacobs: Greetings! Thanks for the tip. I just love this wig! It looks great on you. Blessings!

D W: That wig looks fabulous on you & so natural. What you did with the root color made it even better. Sure wish they still made that wig.

Liz Lyons: It works very well. I use Madison Reed Italian hair dye on my biohair and they sell a root touchup compact that could be used to do this. The beauty of it is, it is meant to stick to the hair and eliminates the need to set the powder with wig spray. It stays in place until you wash it out. Always good to see how you do things, Taz. The brushes you chose are great and I am sure make this process easier. xoxo

Cindy's Wigs: I like to use the same eyebrow powder color. Yes it really works well. How awesome to have tips and tricks!

Lisa Bulmer: Another great video with great tips! Thanks, Taz

Take Control Beauty: Hi Taz This is a great tip! I used a fabric pen but I wish I would have thought of this ! Very simple method ! Love this wig on you also ! Very pretty ! Hugs Barb

Tammy Cannon: Taz, this was a great video for a temporary fix. Would you consider doing a video showing how to put in permanent roots? I’ve used a Copic marker, but quite a bit of it showed up in the water when I washed the wig later. Maybe a furniture marker would be more permanent? Any ideas??

Heather Reis: Great video! Cant wait to try this & jealous of all your wigs lol!!☺️

Raechelle Bennett: Great video Taz! Always love all your hints and tips. I've been using eye shadow as well. I use an eyeshadow color that matches my eyebrows to give my 'root color' a natural look, and this is going to sound corny, but I use a soft toothbrush to comb in my darker root. The toothbrush fibres glide into the hair layers a few layers deep and seems to catch the wig fibres at the deepest level. I dampen the toothbrush with a squirt of hairspray and brush over my new root to seal it in. This way, I am only applying hairspray as a sealer to the root area and not the top of my wig. And combing a little hairspray over my new root allows any stiffness to dissipate as well. Corny in Canada ⚘

Desktop Kitty: I think this trick saved me the hassle of returning one of my wigs. I knew it would have a light brown/blonde mix, but when it arrived I realized it looked way more blonde than brown. And with my dark eyebrows and my skin tone, it didn't look natural on me. By giving it darker roots the wig no longer clashes with my eyebrows and complexion.

Cheryl The Pearl: Great style wig for you. Lovely. Thanks for sharing all your videos. I have 5 wigs now, 4 are Raquel Welch and one is Toni Bratton. Besides a little water, what can be done about tiny hairs sticking out of the wig on top? It’s irritating and I think it gives it away that it’s a wig! Also I hope your son continues to improve and is back to his old self in Ga.

Coast Daze: I thought you were wearing a rooted wig! Nice. You may have heard this by now, but there are various colors of "hair cover power" that would work, too. They are "fiber-like" and tend to stick more than a powder would. I've used them on my bio hair at the temples where my hair is thinner but still there.

John Lewis: Hi. Taz , as you know , I’m new to wigs , I had my first real wig , about three weeks ago . Like I told you had wigs from bricks and mortar places , but never come from there with the wigs I loved or wore , but when..it comes to hair pieces , and wig toppers that I had many many years , wearing , to cover my hair loss , I hope the tip I’m going to give you will help , others , I seen the way you put eye shadow on wigs with no roots , I to done this many years ago until one day I tried s different way of doing a much better roots I hope you find it helpful , as sharing , this I hope will help others , I take the wig , now , cos I had a another wig ! A beautiful colour ICED GRANDA ! ITS GORGEOUS, but no roots to it , it’s beautiful on it own , with platinum running right through , loved shaded biscuit , but found the roots were a bit to much for me bring white blonde myself, well I take the the wig , turn inside out and you see the place where the lace is , I work inside the wig , and not out side , for the first part I find it’s much easer , it get that’s darker root , I use a mixture of brown and black eye shadow , this is much better for platinum wigs ,and blonde hair toppers , I find myself , I do the same as you , but I work on the inside , tamping down the shadow until it’s saturated where I want it , it much cleaner on the wigs hair , if I’m not happy I thin go out side and shade the wigs or hair topper again , but usually , this is all I need to do , and you not drying up the roots of the wig or hair topper , it’s the same illusion exactly , but a lot cleaner and you can see more easily , how far you need to go down the roots , inside the cap , I hope you don’t mind me sharing this tip I used for years on hair toppers and hair pieces , that got the net to do it with , you can do this on very reasonable hair toppers and wigs , that , don’t come with roots , thank you for all the wonderful tips , I hope you like mine xxx

Loretta De Sio: Thanks for this great video. I like the idea of it not being permanent because I’m afraid I might mess up an expensive (for me) wig.. Will this method darken a monofilament scalp and make it look less like scalp?

JA Tedford: This thought had previously crossed my mind. Thanks for confirming that it will actually work.

Lesli Kay Olney: Omg I LOVE LOVE LOVE that wig!! I am watching this at lunch girl!

henrietta henson: You can use WOW powder root touch up its still semi permanent but I find it adears to the fibres really well and the browns are really natural which is so good on a blonde wig.... Just another way to add dimension..

Angie: Nice! I’ve not used eyeshadow but I do use batiste’s dry shampoo in brunette & so it takes down the shine & give that rooting but again isn’t permanent.

Judy Anne: You can use L'Oreal root touch up...they have various colors

Barbra Mighall: Taz, I have been such a bonehead! I finally tried WIGSTUDIO1! I am so sorry that it took me this long. The customer service was SO attentive, kind and accomodating. The prices were just the same and in one style even better than competitors. I ordered two day ago and am receiving the wigs TODAY, free of charge due to spending 150.00 or more. Otherwise, I would have paid only 10.00 for the fast delivery. I have ordered only from others that are free but you wait up to three weeks or for 8.00 and I wait two weeks. I was personally called twice by WIGSTUDIO1, out of complete courtesy. I feel like a fool for not having done business with them until now. You should be proud to represent such an incredible business.

Melissa Lynn: Beautiful your so wonderful and smart helpful!!!

JoAnn Cole: I have always used permanent markers on my brown wigs. Brown will turn blonde an orange color sometimes though.

Michele KT: Another good alternative is Clairol Root Touch Up powder. It comes with a brush in 6 realistic colors and is less expensive than Joan Rivers Great Hair Day.

sue massey: If we root a synthetic wig with eyeshadow, how do we wash out the eyeshadow? I did this, then when I washed the wig, the eyeshadow just kind of faded and spread more onto the fibers and gave the wig a heavy feel and icky texture. It felt find before washing, but now after washing it feels dirty. Do you have a solution for safely removing the eyeshadow from the root areas? Thx.

Rishi Beauty: Doesn’t the eyeshadow shorten the life of some fibers? I would imagine that you wouldn’t want this in a Raquel wig because then your Editors choice only lasts 3 weeks rather than 3 months.

Deb S: Great idea....I have a RW Upstage in Shaded biscuit. The root is a little to dark, do you think you could use this method to lighten a dark root. Thanks

Debera Crabb: Tax I love your tips I would like to se you do a video on wigs with no mono part how to create one..

Alexis Peterson: Can u do this to a hair topper? also what’s the difference in wigs and hair toppers?

Penny Carlson: Great video! and this made me think of something I've wanted to ask you about: your beautiful eye shadow. It looks sort of plummy -- what is it?

Lainey: Hi what wig spray are you using to set the colour? Hairspray?

Lite’n Fluffy: Hi Taz - some of us sent you a picture of ourself in our favorite wig per your request. Could you possibly let me know if anything ever happen with that video idea?

louise scarpa: what is wig spray please; thank your for all of your great info

ChooseHappy Mc: UGH. I just got Estetica Carmel Kiss (not rooted) Big mistake. My Bio hair is dyed dark brown covering my gray. How do you “root” the sides/sideburns to match the faux made top rooted?

Jo Ann Golis: They are still using you to sell cheap wigs. I don’t know how to report them.

audrey magnuson: Hello, I notice that you have a widows peak on your forhead. I have one also and am wondering if a person could shave it off so it would not be as noticeable especially when wearing a wig?

Ramona DeLaney: I have a JR wig w/smart lace the very dark brown rooting that looks like hair plugs on my forehead. It's a Kristi, and I need to lighten the rooting. Should I use powder or something else?

Melissa Lynn: Luv you

Vjollca Duro: can i buy a human hair wig at you?

Connie Murphy: HI friend beautiful look at first I thought you were RAQUEL will you friend me ? hug connie "OVER 70 still glamorous " :)
