So I started from the top, and then I worked my way down to the bottom. Also, I feel like I should have got a bigger bucket because it was hard for me to equally spread the color throughout the hair, and then I had to keep dipping it in and I don't end there now and I missed a few spots. So I literally used all four bottles. You don't necessarily have to use all four bottles. It depends. You can stop at a certain point like if you wanted it to be great, you could have just pulled it out right then, and there there what you do it, but I wanted it to be the paprika. I said the periwinkle color that I saw in the store, so I wanted to make sure I saturated it enough so that it was vibrant enough, but it wasn't true like pastel. If that makes sense.
