How To Lighten Hair Without Bleach (Hydrogen Peroxide And Baking Soda)

I want my hair to get a bit lighter so I’m using the peroxide and baking soda method, to see how I bleached my hair blonde watch this https://youtu.be/BOmKvshPigI

Note: peroxide is bleach but because the effects are not as strong as bleach powder and developer I’m not calling it that, because people are really just looking to not damage their hair as much.

Hey guys so today I'll be showing you how I lighten my hair with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. As you can see, my hair right now looks pretty light, so it probably doesn't make sense that I'm trying to go lighter, but the roots and ends of my hair are actually the lightest, so I'm just trying to even out the middle. I didn't record anything from an intro, so what you're seeing right now is me trying to make a thumbnail um right now. I'M just gon na show you guys where the darker tones are I'm listening to songs throughout this video. So just ignore me acting strange and all that the video that I have of me lightening my hair doesn't really show the darker tones very well, so I'm gon na be showing this instead, just so that you can see like where everything is for what I'm applying It the reason I'm abstaining from bleaching is because I want to lessen the chances of damaging my hair. So I looked up this process about two weeks ago and I'll be using it for at least a few weeks I'll be explaining more about the process, while I'm applying the mix to my hair. The first step in this process is actually going to be shampooing. Your hair clean because, unlike when you're bleaching, the hydrogen peroxide will react the best to your hair if it doesn't have dirt and build up in the way, so don't add conditioner or you've conditioner. Anything like that make sure the only stuff that you do first is shampoo before you apply the mix. I brought a lot of baking soda with me because the first time that I did this, I ended up needing just about this much and I guess off of what I usually use when I bleach my hair. I also use three percent hydrogen peroxide, which is recommended because anything else can be pretty dangerous and damaging to your hair. Be sure to you is a plastic mixing Russian bowl, because metal will mess up the mix and you won't get the desired results. There are specific measurements for how much peroxide and baking soda to add, but I just kind of eyeball it and go with whatever I feel makes a good enough paste. So when you're doing this, you want to make sure that it's not too watery or too chunky or you're gon na have a difficult time spreading it um. Also the baking soda does not do the lightening in this process. It only helps to strip the hair of dirt and it allows it to it allows the peroxide to work on your hair longer without drying out as fast you're, not really able to see the mixture well. But the most important thing here is having enough baking soda to have it easily spreadable on your hair. After washing your hair you'll want to let it air dry for about half an hour, because this works best on damp, yet not soaked hair. This will only give you one to two shades of lift at a time, because it's slower acting than bleach, which is why it isn't as common with this process. You shouldn't leave it on for more than an hour because any longer risks the integrity of your hair. I'M applying it solely to the parts of my hair that are darker and it takes me about half an hour total for those who don't know peroxide is less effective in light, so don't leave it out in the open and don't leave your mixture sitting for a Long time then go to use it when I bleached my hair, it doesn't hurt my scalp or anything, but this definitely did caused me. Some pain be sure to add protection in the form of Vaseline, gloves, towels and other things, because it burns a lot on opening cuts and all of that make sure to also cover the floor and wear clothes that you don't mind standing because it will beat your Clothes and avoid it having contact with your skin for prolonged periods of time, because, while small amounts are okay, large amounts for um a while aren't very good. Once I finished buying all of the mixture, I wipe off anything that gone on to my skin, and one important thing to note is that when you use this, it will bring out the yellow and orange tones in your hair. So a toner is recommended to UM. Get rid of them. I only have t14, so I'm just not going to use toner

AmberLynn: How many times did you repeat this process to get your hair that blonde? The color looks so good on you, turned out to be a beautiful shade as well and I know you didnt use a toner this time but did you do one before after doing this? Sorry so many questions I'm just amazed lol❤❤

Amelia L: i dyed my hair pink and it was WAY too bright, like neon pink, and i put this on for thirty minutes and it brought it down to a more pastel color thank you!

Bonnie Burton: Be very careful I do not use any bleach one time I did do a strand or two of my hair with baking soda and peroxide but I ended up having the trim an inch off and now it's shoulder length I will never try that again I did my hair darker one time and it did not look right I would recommend you do just two shades lighter than your natural color it goes along with your makeup collection and everything use hair skin and nail vitamins do not do anything to damage your hair and it'll be beautiful I can only use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and do a deep conditioning treatment once a week
