Hey, what's up great fam welcome back to the channel, and today we are doing something very, very, very special before we get into the video make sure you give it a thumbs up and subscribe, if you guys haven't already because this channel is mostly all about dreadlocks. If you have a set of dreads or you want to get some go ahead and subscribe, but without further ado guys go ahead and comment down below in the comment section and now let me introduce you candace my wife and wow she's beautiful. I know she's gorgeous, but in today's video i'm going to be giving her dreadlocks. This is something that a lot of people i feel like are going to enjoy. It'S going to be really awesome, welcoming her into the dreadlock community, everybody, but with that being said, i've already given her five dreadlocks, i'm gon na show you guys those and then we're gon na get the dreadlocking process on the road and we're only going to do On the back side of her head, because we don't want to do a full head, because i think it just looks better on girls when they have some dreadlocks rather than their whole head of dreads, but either way it looks good i'ma stop talking. Let'S get into the video so like i said this, is my beautiful wife go ahead and introduce yourself: hey y'all, i'm his wife. There you go he's my husband. So, like you guys see, i'm pull up this row of hair right here and then you can see that we have these dredge right here. Five one two, three four five and the way i got these is with twist and rip just rip is the best way to get dreadlocks with straight hair. So if you do have straight hair, i suggest using twists and rib. So you have these five right here and you see this is just like one day, literally probably spending 10 minutes each on each dread, if not less, and that's just how good they look just right off the bat. So i'm going to show you guys exactly what i do to do this, it's very simple! So i'm going to be grabbing this section of hair right here and then i'm going to show you guys pretty much the whole method, basically on this one and then on the rest, i'm just going to show you time lapse and everything the whole process. You want to get a section normally you'd want to. You know kind of section it out, but since your hair is straight, it's easier kind of just pull some aside and then what you're going to do is make sure hair is combed out which has washed combed, and the best thing to do is just wash your Hair, don't condition it just shampoo it. So your hair is at its dry state and then you can start the process. So what i'm going to do is grab the hair and then like twist it a little bit and then grab the hair at the end and then rip it rip it to the root kind of just run, your fingers down it and then twist it while you're Doing that and then do the same thing twist, it again rip it now. Last time i did this, i only did it on how many drips i did like, maybe two dreads and they weren't even fully formed, but, as you guys see on this one, we're going to form them completely twist and then rip. Hence the words twist and rip, and i used to call it rip and twist all the time, but you twist before you rip you don't rip before you twist. One thing that happens and may be scary. Is you get a clump of hair like this, but it's okay, you can still make it happen. That'S the whole process is like knotting up the hair, but it is two easy steps that you do. It'S not only twist and rib i'll show you guys a second step. I do use - and i would normally do crochet hooking with this, but you don't necessarily need it, but crochet hooking is major key and i definitely can do it in the next video to make them look more fine and make them look more tidy and more maintained. But it's not needed and you can just see how it's starting to lock up it's not allowing me to go all the way to the root as i'm twisting and ripping it's just pushing it down to the next lock, and essentially it's just a bunch of knots. Going down here and the toughest part is getting down to the tips just because it's less hair, because all the hair is mostly knotting up into the rest of the dread. You kind of just keep going at it until it's too hard to do it and i'll show you guys the next step. So basically, when you get down to this point, where it's just like a little bit left over, all i'm gon na do is palm roll. It like i'll, wrap it a little bit and then palm roll the end. So just palm roll all this, and this is what flattens out the dread and allows it all to lock up and it all just comes from friction. You can just see how that already helped out a whole bunch. Friction does help dreadlocks, lock up and mat up and that's why sleeping helps your hair, lock up and just anything that matters up your hair or creates friction to your hair. You literally just run through it a few times, and then it starts to make it look really good. This is the whole process of doing twist and rip and then finishing off with palm rolling. It'S a really good combo that helps the dreadlocks lock as quick as possible, and you can just see how that all happened within probably 10 or 15 minutes all right. So there you go, there is one down and i'm going to keep the roots relatively loose, just because it is the first day of starting this out. Normally you'd want to go all the way down to the scalp, but since we don't know if she's going to keep these in permanently, this is like a temporary solution and you can eventually comb these out. But then again, if you keep them in for a long amount of time, they will mature and keep maturing all the way down to the root which will cause the whole dread to lock and be super mature to where it'll be tougher to actually comb it out. So there we go we're gon na leave that one like this and then we're gon na touch on the rest of them. And then all the drill locks will start to turn out really good. Just like all these and admit that a lot of people don't understand or don't know, is that straight hair is not that hard to lock up you just got ta know the right methods to do, and a lot of people come to me with straight hair and Ask how do i get dreadlocks? Can i use a sponge to get dreadlocks with straight hair? Can i twist with gel to get dreadlocks with straight hair, and the answer to that is you can, but it's not going to turn out as good or it's not going to turn out as quickly as you want it to so with all that being said, use The twist rip method, it's very easy and very quick to get dreadlocks this just in you guys, can go purchase your own great merch right now what yeah great merch, what it's out right now what's out great merch, oh you mean your shirt, yeah awesome! I want one whoa, you have one. I have one get yourself. Some great merch click the link in the description at the top link in the description you can pre-order right now. The launch date is on monday, which is the 16th and it's his birthday. It'S my birthday so be a gift to me and purchase yourself, some merch, but now back to the dreadlocking process. So, oh so so so all right. So i basically have one two three four five, six, seven, eight eight dreadlocks right here and i'm working on the ninth right here and then we're gon na have one more right here and that's ten. Just on the lower back of her head. We'Re not gon na. Do a whole head like i said we would, but we don't know if she's gon na stay committed to it so like up the video, so she stays committed to it and she might keep them. But i feel like this is just going to create a series that allows us to actually experiment with her hair experiment with straight hair dreadlocks compared to my dreadlocks, because we've already done enough on mine, but she has straight hair. So it's going to be a little different, but that being said, i'm going to finish up the ninth one and then work on the 10th one and then show up at 10 dreadlocks and just like that guys, like literally tip, what's up just like that guys, 10 Dreadlocks later and twist and rip was the method that we chose, and here they are really cool, and that was really easy first time, my first time ever doing twister method and it was a success, wouldn't you say so yourself so now, i'm just gon na. Let candace explain how they feel, how they are and pretty much how the whole process was and how it went and how quick it was and how easy it was to get them. It was itchy short, definitely shorter, feels kind of cool feels like lightweight like i have baby clouds in the back of my neck, like i have my own personal pillow, it's a little itchy though, but it feels good, not sure if it was. If it's going to be like a long-term thing, but change is good y'all. How did the process go? It was cool. I was on my phone. The whole time took an hour. It was loud while he was doing this they're still there all right, you guys. Hopefully, you guys did enjoy this video if you did give it a thumbs up, but hopefully you guys enjoy this video. stink: I don’t know why I’m watching this I’m literally bald

Blessed Bae: Imagine having a husband that does your hair

too much sauce: It looks like the Grinch’s fingers (Not saying all dreads look that way, I think dreads are beautiful❤️)

SpectacularSims: Dreads in straight hair looks looks vastly different from in curly or coils. I would say I prefer coils

Faith G: You made this look soooo easy, I absolutely had no idea how to make dreads but my boyfriend been dying for them and I watched this video and got to work on his hair and you helped ALOT. Thank you ☺️

Jerry Rivera: For those talking about the damage, all its really doing is knotting up your hair dont take the word "rip" literal you're not really ripping anything, your hair will be just fine. Also starter locks as you see in the video always start out looking weird but with time, as they settle, they begin to look really beautiful.

potridge: Example of going down the internet rabbit hole. I started out looking for a vegan bread recipe. 2 hours later, I now know how to start dreadlocks in my hair.

F. Sofia: Dreads look completely different when they’re freshly made, it always look a bit odd and then after a few months after they mature they’re soooo beautiful! Dunno why people complaining, they look really cool and after some palm rolls they’re gonna be even more beautiful ☺️

XX: Thank you! I have 8 dreads spread out randomly throughout my hair now. Great tutorial

TheKayPetes: Looks great, I used this method and did my whole head because of this video! Keep em in Candace!

anshika prasad: 80% of comments : talks about damage 10% of comments : cultural appropriation 10% of comments : “that’s so pretty”

David Learn: I’ve always liked the look of dreadlocks, but had no idea they’d be so easy to have. (I’m a white guy, with thick wavy hair.) Nowadays I’d be worried the backlash for perceived appropriation, but I’d also be concerned about maintaining them. Are they easy to wash? Does the hair grow in straight or do the dreadlocks “keep?” And what do you say to charges of cultural appropriation?

Deja Blue: I just started working on my first dread, thanks to you. I’ve watched many videos for a long time now but yours is the first that 1) gave me hope I could actually achieve the look I want but also and more importantly 2) that I can do it myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

G59 terrorist: Thank you as a white male who’s wanted dreads for years I now have a really easy way to do I practiced for 15 and did my first dread

I'm pretty excited to see the finished product. Thank you guys for inspiring me! also to everybody leaving the hate comments... nobody asked you, if you don't like dreadlocks, then go somewhere else. it's rude to make comments as such on a channel specifically designed for the things you're hating on. You are entitled to an opinion, but there's no need to hate. Hate comments make everybody feel uncomfortable, and it literally does not make anything better

CyberSkelly: I don't personally like dreadlocks but I do have to admire the amount of work that goes into them

Sunshine Does it: You did a great job!

rose: Keep the dreads! They look so good (I made it to the end & have a baby dread meow:) I love it, tyyyyy✨

Dahkota Monarrez: Candence Da Great. Keep the dreads, hi, I don’t know lol! This video was amazing and helped me immensely. I’ve always wanted to do it and officially decided I’m going for it! I’ll post a link of before and after

wh0re: oh gosh, you can also start dreads on straight hair by adding heat protectant twisting them and running a straightener up and down the twist spraying hair spray on them and repeating a few times i’ve done it a few times (but never left them for more than a day or two) and it doesn’t seem to have damaged my hair at all!!

Mommaworks2510: Hey there! I watch your videos as I attempt to do this to my fiancé’s hair. His hair is in dreadlocks now but they are messy and I feel terrible please help! They are extremely loose at the roots.

Oldrich Brooks: Is it harder to get dreads on straight hair, or on afro hair (4b-4c type)? In my opinion dreads on afro hair looks way better, unfortunately my hair is straight

Darrell Polee Jr: Brotha, Putin it on for light skinned interracial couples ✊. Love this!

Jason L: Question. When palm rolling, is the oil on your hands beneficial to the forming of the Dreads?

cd maddox: Her dreadlocks look nice I also have dreadlocks I really love them I hope she keep them in God bless you both ❤️❤️

Alexis Alvarado: Hello, how long did this last? Did they stay without coming out?

KNOT NATION: whoa sweet series my dude!

Angelica Maciel: Wow u answered all my questions love the video n her hair thank u so much

BAND!T: My mom has dreadlocks but she is removing them one by one. I'm thinking of carrying on the dreadlock legacy in my household but I have thin hair, welp, we'll see how this goes.

terez jordon: I’m a beachy bohemian white girl : who loves dreads ; just scared to ruin my long wavy hair : I heard you can have them combed out if you are tired of them ? Is it true ? Do you have a video of opening the dreads ? Is the hair damaged afterwards? You two are sooooo cute btw!

Rough Draft ANTI-television: Thanks for the video! Gonna start mine tonight.

Michelle Pitsiokos: This is a great video. You and your wife are beautiful together. Thanks for the info. I've contemplated dreads for YEARS so I think I've finally gotten up the nerve to try a few (again). Best of luck to your marriage. Happy dreading!

Olivia Rust: Hi Candice, the great! I made it to the end. Keep the dreads!

Cory Sturgill: #greatfam bruh thanks so much for sharing this method. I’m starting a new me and I’ve been inspired to do dreads for a while now. You have literally made my week which I needed. Hopefully I can do this in the mirror. Let me know if there are any trick doing it self. Mucho appreciated. Btw Happy belated birthday broham

Aaron Kahoʻonei: Candice Da Great. What’s the minimum length you need to start dreads with straight hair?

Biosh4x: I am going to use this on my buddy, we have been using crochet locs to grow his hair out, and now, here is the answer!!!! Yayyyyy

SoZo: I have stick straight hair and 5 years ago I started my dreads using back combing and crochet and it literally took a full year for them to lock up and the shrinkage was unreal. 3 years later I started longing for my straight hair again but I refused to cut my dreads off. So I used a fork and about 3 bottles of conditioner and 22 hours later I had straight hair again! I was completely surprised that it was down to my butt! My dreads were only a little bit past my shoulders. Now, I’m back to wanting dreads again and I think I’m going to try this method as it seems to help them lock up way quicker.

JoJo: What do you do when the hair keeps growing?

Marie: I was gonna pay 150 for this. I'm doing my own now Saved myself some pennies thank you.

Man of Letters: Is this as damaging as it looks?

Barasa Dancuns: Wow that's really awesome I like it

hayli pruett: Hey How thick is her hair? I’m trying to dread mine. I did the crochet method when I was younger and it made my hair waaaay shorter than it was. My hairs also pretty thin. Any suggestions?

Paula Mummert: Made it to the end. Thank you

Kelly Theuwis: So, maybe somebody already asked this… so I have fine hair. Can I do thin dreadlocks with this method and leave the ends loose?

Shady_arty_ Lady: This is a desired hairstyle for some. Don’t go hating they know what it does to their hair and they don’t mind. People have different ideas of what looks good.

Jaraiaha Bentley: Hi, Candice looked great and I think I'm gonna try this oh I watched the whole video.. TYSM for this tutorial

Burnin Metal Art Worx: I have extremely curly hair, what's the best thing for me to do to start my dreads. Yes, I plan to keep them permanent. I've wanted to since I was younger after talking to my teacher from Jamaica and I'm about to be 47 and it's past time!
