Music "Easy Lemon" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

Hello, everyone: this is breanna rutter from howtoblackhair.com and i will be teaching you how to do the latch hook. Crochet hairstyle, this hairstyle goes by many names, but they all mean the same, such as latch hook, style, crochet style, latch hook, braids and crochet braids. This style is perfect for all hair types, whether your natural, transitioned or relaxed. Also, this style does its best when you have extremely coyly or curly hair, the more fine or slippery. The hair is the least amount of time that the style actually hold, so the supplies that you will need to do this style will be three packages or bundles of coyly or curly hair. You will also need a hair spray bottle to mist your hair as needed. A comb haircutting scissors, hair gel. You will need duckbill clips to hold your hair when needed and to add your extensions, you will need a hair, beater or a crochet needle to do so. So once you have all of your supplies ready in the next step. Step number two: I will show you in detail how to do your braid pattern for your latch hook style here we are in step number two of the latch hook, crochet style in this step. I will show you in detail how I do my braid pattern for this look. So just to give you some background about your braid pattern, you want to make sure that you have double the amount of braids in the front of your head. Then you do in the back of your head. For example, I bring about 10 to 12 braids in the front of my head, so once I reach the back of my head, I should have about five to six braids. The reason why is because you need more braids up front to add more fullness, then you do in the back. So the design of this braid pattern also allows you to move your hair in sections at the top of your head to create a natural part. When you want so in detail, I will show you how I do my braid pattern for this latch hook, hairstyle to begin braiding, your hair. What you want to do is use a water spray bottle to mist the section you will be working on, especially if you have thick or coily hair like I do using water helps significantly with parting and sectioning your hair. So what I will do is miss the very right side area of my head and then I will begin to part my hair for my first braid after you finish parting, your section of hair. You will take a little bit of your hair gel and apply it at the very beginning of your hair along your hairline. This will help keep the hairs taut and neat, as you braid your hair for your style. So now that your hair has been prepped, I will show you how to braid your hair right before I begin to braid, I will mist my hair just a little bit more with water now to begin. What you want to do is pinch off a small section here at the beginning of your part, now you're going to divide this piece of hair that you sectioned off into three equal parts. Your left hand will hold the outer strand between the three main fingers of your hand, which is your index finger, your middle finger and your thumb. The other two hairs here on the side will be held as well. In your right hand, the hair in the middle will be here between your index finger and your thumb, and then your hair on the outer edge will be held between your ring finger and your middle finger. So now what you will do is you will rotate one of your hands to either side. So, since my right hand has two hairs in two sections, I will rotate the right hand to the right just a little bit. Then I will take my index finger of my left hand insert it through the opening of those two strands, and I will hook this outer strand along with some hair from my scalp, though, at the same time, I'm putting my index finger through the opening, I'm hooking. This outer strand and grabbing hair from my scalp as well so now my hand placement has switched. I have one area of hair in my right hand, and I have two in my left hand here so now that my left hand has two strands of hair. I need to take my right hand of my index finger and start it through the opening and hook the outer edge of hair, with some hair for my scalp. So now the same thing since my right hand has two strands. I have to take the index of my other hand, insert it through the two strands: click the outer edge, along with some hair from my scalp, so now just continue that same process all the way along your hair until your braid is formed and finished. So after I finish braiding my braids along my scalp, I like to braid almost to the bottom of my hair, since my hair is extremely quietly and tightened texture, I leave a little bit of the bottom of the braid undone so when it's actually time for me To take down my style, it's easier to separate the hairs, then braiding all the way down into a very fine braid at the tip. So this is the moment where I just like to stop and leave that a little bit undone and then I will continue braiding French braids on the top part of my head. So now I've made a stop part way through my braid pattern process. So you can see how your braids should be in the front of my head. I have 12 braids, so once I reach the back, I should have 6 braids when you're doing your braid pattern, try to keep even number amount of braids for the top, so that once you reach the back, you can break them evenly. If you have an odd amount of braids in the front, then your last braid will have to connect to one braid and you want to make sure that you do double in the front. Then you do in the back. So, as I turn to the side, you can see how my braid pattern is for every two braids that connect in the front of my head. It connects into one braid in the back of my head and I just keep repeating the same thing as I braid along my hair, as you see here so also. I'Ve connected each braid along the way, as I've graded to end up with one tail braid, and this process is really easy. You braid down and then once you finish, your braid, you go ahead and do your next braid and just connect the toe end of the braid in itself, so that it just forms one. So, as I repeated the same process, all of these braids started together and become one braid here. So now I will walk through and show you how I connect two braids in the front of my head to form one braid in the back, and I will also show you how to connect the bottom of all of your braids, so that once your braid pattern Is finished, you only have one tail length of a braid that hangs in your style so now to begin, I'm going to take my spray bottle and I'm just gon na miss to my hair. I'M just going to miss the section here and I have four braids left in the front of my head, so I will have two braids in the back, but I'll break one to show you how the process happens. So now I'm just going to use my comb and since I know that the back will form two braids, I'm going to divide the section of hair into two parts. So now I'm going to use my clips to keep the rest of my hair out of the way as I braid then I'm just going to pinch a portion off from the hair. Here, that's not braided to form the third leg of my braid. So I'm going to have to grab two braids, this hanging here to form my braid and the way that I showed you how to braid. Your hair is just the same way, you're just going to bring all the way down until you reach the bottom. Now, as I'm nearing closer and closer to the end of my break, I want to make sure to take the tail end of the other braid and add it into the braid. I am rating now so as confusing as it may sound. It'S extremely simple, but what I do is I'm almost finishing up. My braid is that I take this tail in and then I'll just add it over as if it's another piece of hair, so now, instead of two braids hanging down now I have continuously one braid that hangs down so once the style is finished, I will have One braid that hangs down after my style that it's easier to tuck then trying to tuck six braids from the back of my head. So now there you go it's forming one braid here, just simply continue to braid and then just take the tail end of another braid. Add it into itself and then continue to go down until you have a braid here now I like to make sure to leave a little bit of the ends, undone with every braid that I rate, because when it's time to take down my hair, it's easier for Me to take down a braid that doesn't be so close at the very ends, so this gives me enough area to be able to take it down with ease when I need to now. The same thing is going to happen with the rest of the hair that I have here, which forms my last braid. So here on my scalp, I have two braids here in the front that has to connect into my last braid and then once I connect this braid at the bottom as well. I will have one braid that hangs down you after I finish braiding this last braid. I will show you how to tuck your remaining braids in your style, so that it helps you to extend on your extensions so now that I've gathered that extra braid here and now here is my one single last final grade for this last one. I try to braid it close to the bottom. So now I will show you how I tuck this braid onto my head, so that I have a flat surface all around to do my crochet style. I do not suggest that you hang this braid and leave it down, because the purpose of this style to make sure that all of your hair is tucked away. So what I will do is grab my hair beater and show you how to pin your braids down onto your head. So now with your hair. Beater using this beater makes it extremely easy when you're pinning down your extensions and also when you're tucking, your braids. You simply want to slide this in under a braid. Take the tail end of your braid and start it here and just pull it right back through. So I will show you how easy it is and how simple the process will be so right now, I'm just going to take my beater, I'm going to close up the wings of the beater just a little bit, and then I am going to slide it through This braid here so I'm just going to put it directly all the way under my braid and just slide it through just like that. Now I'm going to take the tail end of this braid and put it through the opening of my hair beader. So now that I have it through the opening hair of my beater, I'm going to grab the other side of my beater and I'm just going to pull my braid through and that's how easy and simple I keep my braids pinned down onto my head. If your brain is longer just continue to take your beater slide it under braids and keep pulling it through certain braids to make sure the braid is tucked down to your scalp. So once again, I'm going to show you how I pin it to my head. So I'm just going to take the braid and slide it out of that braid there and now what I'm going to do is tuck it. Why it's here, I'm actually going to tuck it down further a little bit. So I'm going to take my beater close the wings just a little bit and I'm going to insert it through my braid here pulling right back out now, I'm going to take the tail end of my braid and start it through the eye of the beader. Just like that just inserted it, then I'm going to grab the other side of the beater and I'm going to pull the braid and tuck it right back through and that keeps the braid really pinned down onto my hair here. So when I crochet my style, I don't have any of my hair hanging down out of my style here. Is your complete braid pattern for your latch hook, crochet hairstyle, now that your braid pattern is finished in the next step step number three. I will show you step-by-step how to crochet your extensions onto your braids welcome to step number three of the latch hook: crochet hairstyle. I will be showing you in detail step-by-step, how to latch hook your hair extensions onto your cornrow braids. First, I will show you how to do so with a hair beater. Then I will also show you how to do the same thing with a crochet needle before we begin adding extension hair onto our cornrow braids. I first must show you how to prepare your hair so now that your braid pattern is finished, you're going to be prepping, your actual hair extensions, it's best to make sure that you divide your spirals up or your curls up into parts before you crochet them on. Simply because, if you crocheted them on as hole as they are, your hair will look too thick unrealistic and there's the chance that you could possibly run out of extensions so to make sure that the hair looks extremely realistic and that it appears more natural. What we will do is break this hair up into parts also, the hair is extremely long, so I would like a shorter length a little bit above my shoulders. So what I will do is cut this length in half. If you would like to leave these extensions long, as is, they will actually reach all the way down your back, but if you will like them shorter a little bit above shoulder or at your shoulder, then I suggest that you cut the extensions in half so you're Going to need scissors to cut them in half and I have to build clips to hold the cut hair securely around each other. The reason why I have two is because I'm going to be demonstrating on two different shades of color. This color here is in the number 33, and this color here is in the number 6. When doing this style, you have so much versatility to play with color, because none of your hair will be out and exposed. So you can put on any color extensions that you would like for your look and I would like to use subtle brown colors. So first I will start with my color number six and I'm going to make sure that all the ends match up to one another and then I'm going to cut the hair in half as even as possible. So I'm going to take my scissors and I'm going to trim directly in half so now for each spiral. What I want to do is break it up either into two or three parts, and I want to eliminate the frizz as much as I can so here you can see that the hair has a little bit of frizz on it and that's fine, because a little Bit of frizz makes the hairstyle look that more real. So what I like to do is kind of break the spirals apart to see where the natural breaks are in the pattern. So once I find that break, I just simply divide the hair into half as slowly as I can. I want to eliminate too much Fritz. So now after I break the section apart, this is about the spiral size that I like to use when I'm crocheting my style. So now, I'm just going to fix this hair up just a little bit and I'm going to divide it in half once again. So you're just going to find a natural break in the curl pattern and then you're just going to pull it apart. So now, once I've divided my curled section into parts. What I like to do is take one of my clips and just secure the hair that I've already prepared so now you're just going to continue on by grabbing another spiral or curly piece of hair you're going to find that natural break in it, which is about There so you're just gently pressing the curls on today's separate and then you're just going to pull it apart and then you're going to divide this hair one more time in half finding that natural curl break that separates, pull it apart and then you're going to connect. It onto your other bundle of section hair here so by breaking this hair up into parts, you get the fullness that you need without necessarily adding one huge piece of curl, so by prepping your hair. What I like to do is grab about three long strands like what I have here in the color number 33, and then I cut it in half and prep that amount of hair. The reason why you do not want to prep all of your extension hair at once is because, most times you don't actually use all the extension hair so by prepping small sections at a time it ensures that you have enough hair for your style. So after I finish prepping this hair next, I will show you how to install it onto your braids, so now that I've showed you how to prep your hair extensions. I will now show you two ways of how you can install your crochet here for your latch hook, crochet style, so we first will start by using a hair beater. A hair beater is perfect for doing your entire head, because the plastic of the beater is extremely flexible for those sensitive areas. So, especially when you get along close by your hairline, the plastic beater works perfect, because it can maneuver under very delicate hairs versus using a metal crochet hook, which doesn't give much flexibility, but both offer their own pros and cons, even though I mainly prefer to use A plastic hair beader, so right now I will grab a little piece of hair and I will also grab the plastic hair beader to show you how to put your hair onto your braids. So here's the plastic beater here and I'm just going to take the clip off of one of my sections of hair and I'm gon na grab one of my ringlets here. So I'm gon na put that piece on grab my hook and just hook the hair out of the way here just to keep it separate. Now I'm going to grab my beater and my ringlets of hair here so now what you want to do is take your extension and just wrap it around your other hand. So whatever your dominant hand is this is the hand that you're going to hold your beater with, or your crochet needle, so just wrap the hair. Around your other hand, on your index finger just to hold it secure in place. So now what I do is I take my beater and I pinch the wings of the beater just a little bit, so it's even easier to slide onto my hair and I love using this plastic beater, especially when I'm close to my hairline. So what I do is I take the beater. I slide it as close here to my hairline, but also making sure I remain on the braid, so I'm gon na slide it in about there and I'm going to make sure the end of the beater lifts back out of the hair here. So I push it all the way through to make sure the ayat of the actual beater is out of the hair. So now you just want to take the hair, that's wrapping around your finger and just pull it out a little bit to expose the end. So what I like to do is just twirl the very end, a little bit to make sure I can easily slide the hair through the actual eye of the beater. So I'm just going to grab the wings of the beater and push my hair through just like that, so I'm not going to pull one of the actual ringlets out. I want to make sure that it has this fold here. So now I'm just going to hold both of the ends. The bottom end in the front hand with my hand, I'm going to take my other hand and just slide it back through the braid very easy and simple. So now you want to make sure that you have your hair with your opening here and then you have your two strands on the other end. Now, if you would like it to be perfectly and linked at the bottom, what you can do is create your knot. Now and right now you can imagine how long the hair would be so naturally, when it's just left hanging, it covers about the top of my nose or the bottom of my nose. But if you wanted to add more length, you could separate the two ringlets and just pull one down further a little bit making sure the hair doesn't slide out of the braid. And then you can have a new length all the way down. As far as you want, but I'll make sure to keep both of the bottoms, even so I'm going to even it back up here and now, I'm going to form my not for my crochet hair. So what you do is you use your two fingers in your thumb, helping you as well to open the hair right here now, I'm just going to grab here. That'S on the other side and feed it through the opening. So once I've done that, I'm going to just twist the hair baby hair through the open and again pull through twist this in be the air through the opening and pull through. You want to do this about four or five times to make sure you got a very sturdy night when you finish so here is my fifth time put the hair through that opening and now to finish off, you're simply going to pull all the way up and What I like to do is take my fingers and slide the knot down even closer to my hair, and then I separate the two ringlets and expand it and push it even further on the night and there's your first hair being installed onto your braid. So now I'm going to show you how to add your extensions onto your braids by using a latch hook. So now I'm going to go to my table and I'm first gon na grab a small ringlets of hair. If you have a very small latch hook, you have to grab a very small amount of hair to make sure you can get all the hair on at once. So I'm just gon na break one of the ringlets up a little bit and I'm gon na move. This hair to the side - actually I'm just gon na - grab a different ringlets here, I'm gon na pinch that I'm gon na use that amount here, then I'm gon na move this to the side and I'm gon na wrap this hair around my finger and I have To put this latch hook through my braid now, when you put the latch hook through your braid, you want to make sure that the actual latch part of your latch hook is actually open. So this is how it looks closed, and this is how it looks open. We want to make sure this latch is flat and the hook is open and then you're going to slide it underneath your braid. So now I'm going to go up to my scalp and the latch is open. We'Re going to slide right here, snug under my braid. Once you go on to your braid, make sure the latch is still opening that you know exactly where it is, so you can flip it up now, you're going to take your strand of hair, and I like to use my thumb and my index finger to open It you're going to hook it on to that latch. Then you're going to actually close the latch here, so you got to close it over to the finish closing on the hook. You once you finally close the hook down, then you can pull it through. Your braids open the hook take the latch off, and now you have your ringlets of hair through your braid and we're going to do the same process tonight. We'Re going to open up on side put the hair through turn put the hair through turn. Our opening put the hair through you want to do this about four or five times. Then you're going to pull all the way and move your night all the way down to your braid and I like to separate the ringlets just to make it tighter on the braid and then you release. So now, one more time, I'm going to show you how to use your latch hook to put your extensions onto your braids. So now we're going to go back to our hair and we're going to grab a very small ringlets of hair, very small. If you have a bigger actual latch hook, you can use more hair, but mine is pretty small, so I have to use a small amount of hair sometime, just gon na wrap that around my finger, I'm gon na make sure my latch hook is open. So I'm gon na make sure the latch is open off of the hook. I'M going to go to my braid, I'm going to insert it in right directly underneath my braid, the latch is still open so that the hook is exposed. I'M gon na wrap the hair around the hook, I'm going to find the latch and I'm going to close the latch on it. Then I'm going to slide it through my brain and then now I can take the latch off of the hook. Let'S try that one more time, because you want to make sure all of your hair is on there. So now all the hair is wrapped around my finger and my latch is open. My hook is there ready to hook some hair gon na put that underneath my braid make sure the latch is still down wrap all of the hair around the hook close the latch over pull through then I can take the latch off of the hook and do The same process using the latch hook can be easy for some, and that is how I learned how to do this style, but I always now prefer the beater, because it's a lot more flexible and easier for me to do my hair. So it's up to you how you want to use your tools so now you're just going to pull your knot all the way down to your braid, separate the two pieces just to tighten it even more and now you're finished so now I've shown you how to Put your extensions on your braids. I will continue to do the same process, but I like to prefer to use the plastic hair beader, so I will continue to use the hair beater to add extensions onto my hair. So now that I showed you two ways of how to put your extensions onto your braids, I went ahead and crocheted my hair about half way on my head. I have the entire back half of my head done with the hair already installed. I have not cut the hair or did anything I just put the pieces in and left them, as is so. The reason why I got two different shades of brown was because I want it kind of a highlight effect towards the front of my face. So in the back I have one full pack of 1b, so the entire black package that I had I have installed in my hair and remember - I cut the pack in half, so I had half the length of what I originally started with. So I cut the hair first and then I installed it onto my head and for the front I'm going to have a mix between the color number 33 and the color number 6. So if you want very subtle brown tones, I suggest that you stay in. That range, but if you want your hair to be really dark in one solid color, then choose only one color. So the lighter you go with your extensions. It'S best to go with a little low light, such as a lighter brown color. If you choose to have like a dark blonde color, so what I'm doing is the same process throughout my head by using my beater to install my extensions onto my braid, and this was the first area where I showed you how to put them on, and I Just filled in a little bit to make sure to fill in the gaps so to know that you have enough hair installed on your braids. Is that when you smooth your hair down, you shouldn't see your braids through your actual nuts. So I'm going to flip it over on the other side and the same thing, you see a little bit of hair from my scalp, but you don't see the braid exposed so to make sure that you're not adding too much hair to the front of your head. You want to make sure that you work with small pieces of ringlets at a time. So, as you separate the hair out, try not to put one entire huge ringlets on just break it up into smaller portions, when you're really concentrating on the front of your head. Because that's the area where you don't want to look too dense, but you want it to look full so now. What I will do is show you how my hair is still prepared. I have my color number 33 here and not just have a duckbill clip to hold around the hair, and then I also have my other color in the color number 6 as well. My natural hair color is a color number 1 and sometimes it shades of 1b. As well, but since all of my hair is braided, you could have as much fun with color as you want. Whatever colors you want to use, even if you want your whole entire head to be red, you can buy red extensions and put them onto your braids, because your real hair won't show. So you won't have an issue blending your real hair with your extensions. So I just keep the duckbill clips. I want to keep the hair separate and I just like to take some of the pieces of the brown and put them one. And then I go back to my other color, which is my 33 and put that on as well. You could even just break apart your colors, you want to use for a highlight type mix and you can just mix them into each other after you've separated the ringlets. So it's just your preference. I just like to keep it separate so now, as I go along when I am putting on my extensions, I like to start from the back of the braid and work my way up. Sometimes I start very close to the front of my head, because sometimes the rare times I may start to get a little bit sparse with my hair, and I will rather have sparse extensions installed here in the middle of my head or in the back of my Hand in the front, so, however, you feel comfortable just make sure that the very front of your hair is really filled up as close to the braid as possible. So now I'm just going to install a couple of more extensions and I'm just going to take some of my Brown here and I'm going to take my clip off and grab one of the ringlets. The closer you are to the beginning of your brain, the smaller your ringlets, should be because it looks a lot more realistic. So when you brake your extensions up, you notice that some ringlets are a lot more bigger then put those back towards your hair because the finer they are up front. It looks very beautiful. So now I'm just going to hold it here around my finger and I'm going to take my small plastic hair beader. I'M going to slide that at the very beginning of my braid here, then I'm going to twist it just a little bit because I just need to be able to slide it through the eye of the beader, and I just slide it through and once I slide It through I just secured both of the ends here, so this part doesn't get lost, just put that loosely in my hand, so I can slide the hair back through on the other side. Sometimes you may get some stray hairs caught on your beater, but that's fine. You can just pull that apart and then you can open up your hair and do your same turn and loop process, which I do about four or five times also when you are pulling on the end of the extension to tighten it here at the root. If you feel any tension, just use your fingers and slide the knot down and pull at the same time, because you don't want to pull towards uncomfortable and actually pull some of your hair out. So just be careful, it's not that hard to do. You just want to make sure that you have a secure knot as close to your braid as possible, and even if you don't like to pull the ends to make the knot, go down to your root, just separate the two ringlets and tighten it that way. It does the same effect, I'm just going to push it over to the side and I'm just going to continue to work my way back so for the front. I will just probably do about three to four inches of hair in the front here, just to make sure that I have enough hair filled in around my hairline and then I'll just fill in the rest. I always have hair left over, but it's just best to make sure that you cover those very important areas of your style, which is mainly the very front of your head and I'm just going to take another ringlets and put that on my braid as well. So, as you know, I really love using this plastic beer because it's extremely flexible and it puts no tension on my hairline and I know a lot of people have issues with styles because they have very sensitive or frail edges, and this is a perfect style to Do because it's literally no stress on your hair and even when you're using a plastic beater, it makes doing your hair a whole lot easier. So those are just some tips when you are doing your style, you want to make sure that you're, pain-free and you're comfortable and to use a style that you prefer to use, make sure you use a tool that works best for your style as well. In this step, I show you in detail how to add your hair extensions onto your cornrow braids by adding your hair extensions. There are multiple ways that you can put them onto your hair. I show you two methods. The first method was by using a plastic hair, beader to add extensions onto your braids, and the second method was by using a metal crochet needle to do so, which ever method works best for you use either tool to help. You achieve your style so now that your hair has been installed in the next step step number four: I will show you how to trim and cut your latch hook. Crochet style welcome to step number four of the latch hook, crochet hairstyle. In this step. I will show you how I trim and cut the extensions for this hair to begin. You want to make sure that you use your hands to smooth all of the hair in a downward direction. This will give you a clear idea as to where you want to make your cuts or trims for your style also make sure to use a good pair of haircutting scissors. So you could have a clean cut when you're deciding to cut certain sections. So for the back of my head, I want to make sure that I use the scissors to cut the hair a little bit above my shoulders. The reason why is because the more your hair brushes against your shoulders or any part of your body, the more likely it is to become knotted and tangled. So I want to make sure to do a pretty good trim around that area and then for any extra thickness that I may not like as much or any strands of hair that hang awkwardly in certain directions. I will use my scissors to trim as needed, so to begin. You want to make sure that you have your scissors ready, but before you actually cut your extensions, you need to make sure to smooth your hair down in all directions, to clearly see where you need to make adjustments. So I'm just going to use my hands and I'm simply going to just brush all of the hair for and to the sides how it would naturally lay so right now, I'm just running my fingers through the individual pieces of hair to get it to lay as Flat and neat as possible, also at the same time that I'm doing this, I'm taking out a couple of tangles. So I can really see how long certain parts of the extensions are so now, after I've smooth all of the hair down, I'm just going to move some of the hair away from my eye just a little bit. So I can see, and then I'm going to use my scissors to trim across any area where the hair brushes on my back or at the top of my shoulder. So as I smooth down to see how long it goes just going to take the scissors and I'm going to snip the very ends, you want to make sure to snip just a little bit at a time, because if you snip too much hair, you have to Do with whatever length you cut so make sure that you carefully even overestimate how short you actually want it. So if you do make a mistake of cutting too high, it's not too high for where you actually want it to be. So, even though I want it to be a little bit higher, I'm barely skimming the bottom just to make sure if I want to go any higher. If it's hard for you to see your hair as you are cutting my best suggestion is to get a stock. A tall stand-up mirror that's in front of you and behind you, so you can see where the hair falls in all directions. So right now, I'm just going based off just how I naturally always do my hair. I just kind of pull it down in the back to see where it falls and then I trim when needed. So now I have a pretty good length in the back. It barely brushes my shoulders, and I think I'm fine with that, because I really don't want to go any much shorter than what I have so I'm just going to trim off these last few bits on the side, and now this is actually the moment where you Will shake how your latch hook, crochet style looks. So if you want the hair to kind of go outward at an angle, you want to make sure that you cut layers that come inward towards your chin. So you want to start at the top, and you want to make angles: go in really sharply to make your hair stand out in that fashion. But if you just wanted to just kind of be well-rounded, then just lightly trim around the edges and smooth the hair down and then fluff it out to see exactly how its shapes. So, as you can see, I have a piece that sticks way out too far and I have just some sections that just need to be molded a little bit more. So I'm just going to take my scissors and I'm going to trim accordingly remember to just trim off a little bit at a time, I'm just going to work on this side and I'm going to save the middle for last, because that's the place where I really Want to take my time as I trim be here, so I'm just barely trimming the eggs, because I kind of wanted to just round itself out just a little bit. So now I'm just going to brush the last final piece of hair all the way down in front of my face. Now, I'm going to carefully trim any areas where I want to even it out or shape it or mold it a little bit. So I'm going to just kind of get it to curve right around the bottom of my nose a little bit here and then I'm going to start skimming over the actual top strands. In this step, I show you how I cut and trim my hair for my latch hook, crochet style, to begin. You first want to make sure that you generally cut. How long do you want the hair to actually fall down, and I want the hair to fall right above my shoulders, then after you've cut your desired length all the way around the bottom you're going to use your scissors to shape the way your actual style looks. So if you want it to be rounded, then I suggest that you just cut off the very snips into a round circular shape. But if you want a very extreme cut to even go out in an angle, you have to cut very sharply all the way along to the bottom of your hair. However, you choose to shape your hair. Just use your scissors to cut off small amounts at a time until you've reached your look that you would like. So in the next step step number five, I will show you the finished results of the latch hook: crochet hairstyle. Here we are in step number five. The finished results to your latch hook: crochet hairstyle have fun wearing your new hair. You you, you you so there you have it. I hope you enjoy your beautiful new hairstyle in the next step. Step number six. I will show you how to safely take down your extensions for your latch hook. Hairstyle here we are in step number six of the latch hook, crochet hairstyle. In this step. I will show you how to properly and safely remove your hair extensions to begin. You want to make sure that you have a pair of scissors to cut off your extensions from your real hair. Removing your extensions is extremely easy because you can locate where all of your weave is from your braids, simply because you not at your weaves into knots. So, during the process of installing your actual extensions, each piece of hair was knotted on top of your brain. So when you go to take down your extensions, you just have to locate the nuts along the top of your braids and cut them with your scissors, and just so you know how easy it is. I will show you exactly how to take your extensions off from your braids. So to begin, you want to make sure that you have your scissors in hand and ready to cut your extensions, so you simply want to make sure to remove all of the hair in front of your face. So you can clearly see what you are cutting. So I'm just going to take my hand, I'm just going to brush the hair back just to reveal exactly where my braids are in. My rolls are from where I put my extensions on and I'm going to show you how to take down your extensions by concentrating on this row here. So, as you can clearly see, you can see how the hair itself wraps around the braid, and you can also see a little bit into here. The actual individual nuts, the beauty of taking down a style, is that all you have to do is cut the nuts and then take off the little bits of hair that are connected to the braid. So we don't want to cut all the way close to the braid, because we want to make sure that we steer clear from our hair. So at the top of the knot here is where I will cut so once I cut that I just remove their strand of hair, and then you have a little bit of the base of the hair here on your braid and you're just going to unravel it And unsighted right off of your braid and that's how easy it is to take it down. It'S really simple: I did not cut my hair at all, so I'm going to show you one more time how easy this process is. So we're going to go right on to our next piece right here and instead of cutting all the way snug against the braid, we're just gon na cut at the top of the knot there, where the hair starts to Bunch. I'M just gon na take the scissors and snip and there's the remaining piece of hair there that I'm going to pull out and then there's always a little bit of hair. That'S left wrapped around from where you cut so you're just going to use your fingers to just gently rub the hair off from your braid. Your hair is still intact and you've only cut your extensions so to take down all of your hair you're, just going to continue to cut each knot along the way and then take your braids down from your style. So there you have it taking down your extensions from your latch hook. Style is a completely easy process. You want to make sure that you simply cut the nuts off that are on top of your braids after you cut the nut, just simply remove the little bits of hair that's attached at the base of your brain. Thank you for watching the latch hook. Crochet hairstyle be sure to check out our videos blog and online store at howtoblackhair.com. Thanks for watching you, you

Art Gallery: Hello Breanna, I really enjoyed your tutorial. To date, this was the most professional hair tutorial video that my colleagues and I have ever seen. Your presentation was flawless, as well, your articulation...which essentially drew us more into your video. You presented yourself in a very professional manner. Wardrobe and makeup...flawless. Absolutely lovely and beautiful lady you are. Keep the videos coming. Stay encouraged, Breanna.

Karen Cas: I used one of Breanna Rutters YouTube tutorials to teach me how to cornrow then used this tutorial to teach me how to crochet braid. It's been 1 week and the hair is still in snugly and I'm loving my results even moreso now that the hair is older.

Cientxa: I watched this in 2013 and you are still on point with this video! Love your instructional videos, direct, easy to follow, no noisy sound track to distract from the purpose at hand.

Edie Lee: You do a wonderful job at explaining your tutorials. Slowly & detailed as to not lose the beginner. Great for someone who's just learning...  :-)

Summer Dawns: I don't know why people are complaining about you speaking slowly. Clearly you wanted to be detailed and clear in your delivery. You spoke like you were reading step by step instructions from paper, and that's fine because it will be helpful to certain people. The same people complaining will be the same ones having to rewind because they missed something. Very good job!

GirlsLoveYourCurls: Great  tutorial! It's extremely thorough, leaving little room for confusion or questions. I absolutely love the idea of using a hair beader. I've wanted to try crochet braids, but didn't relish the idea with fiddling around with a latch hook. It seemed as if you could accidently snag your hair with it too. I've always loved the beader. Now I've discovered another great use for it. Thank you for sharing. :) x
