Wig Making: Full Lace Wig Foundation In A Time-Lapse

Wig making know how: A series of time-lapse videos to show the whole process of creating a full lace wig foundation. This is just one method of creating a wig base and is by no means the definitive method.

I have used a mid brown terylene net on the main body and 40 denier fine Swiss lace on the front and nape, all whipped using clear nylon thread.

I am a strong believer in using a method that works for you. There are different styles and methods for creating a full lace wig base out there. The method you chose will always be the correct choice. If the end result is the same that's what counts. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

This is the preferred method I use when teaching at my wig making studio and this video is also a little refresher to all my amazing wig making students that have come through my doors at WAM Studio.

At WAM Studio I offer short, affordable and intensive courses in all things wig making, hair and makeup.

silkesilke100: I'd love to see an in-depth video on how to make the foundation. We learn a different method in school but I would love to make another one using this method.

ashley b: Thank you. This is very informative. I just keep watching it over an over to make sure I haven't missed anything.

Dani Duffy: This is a great video, very helpful thanks. I would just like to check, when you are folding your seams are you folding onto the top of the foundation or do you tuck underneath? It’s quite hard to tell as its s fast.

Rienus Van Biene: Hi, I just found your channel. Thank you for your inspiring work! I love it ❤️

Janine Croft: How long did it actually take to make this foundation? Good work!

Gemma Allen: this was very helpful! Quick question, if you are using a lace nape would you still bulk knot on this section?

Marilia Nunes freitas: You're amazing.

Sylvia Bruens: Hello, thank you for your video's I really love them. Often I see a PU rubber kind of material on the edge of a wig or hairpiece. Do you know this product and where I can buy this. Will you make a video of how to aply this. Lots of love from Amsterdam.

A J: This is brilliant. Thank you for this.

hugger1ify: May I know this is hard type lace for the wig foundation? Thank you

Marilia Nunes freitas: Thank you. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Mantas Siauciunas: May I ask you witch foundation material is best to use for the main body, nape and the front around hairline? I want to make my first full lace wig and I want to make sure I use the right foundation as there's so many of them. It's important to me that it's strong and wig won't break everytime I wash and blow dry it. And the front around hairline is important to me to be as natural looking possible. What do you suggest? Thank you!

Scott Gray: I've never heard of a cotton line...is it a border? Does it keep the lace from distorting? My introduction to wigmaking was over the phone, from a friend, who was a wigmaker from San Francisco Opera, but eventually wound up at the Met. Since l had no points, he suggested staples..."put the lace on the block, and pull the shit out of it!"! That was almost forty years ago!

Megan B: Wow , and that’s the “ easy” part , I would not have the patience for this job. But someone’s gotta do it .

Mike Love: Does the tensión band design give a snugger fit?

uldron: Are you using ventilating needle to sew it together?

Rhonda Thornton: I’m just discovering your channel. What is that black & gold thing you’re using on the lace?

Kai B: How long did this wig take to make ?

Will Campbell: What kind of lace/denier are you using on the hairline?

mamborena: your tension band section/area is nice and flat.  I'm ending up with way too much excess which would require darting unlike yours. Grrrr.
