Why I'M Not Wearing Lace Fronts Anymore!

After you watch this, check out my "HOW TO GROW YOU EDGES BACK" video. https://youtu.be/4zXLjCD45qs

Inquiries: [email protected]

I should have did my hair before i was gon na. Do this video huh? So if you watch the show that i'm on, you are well aware that i have had some really good hair moments need to finally get out of the house and go do something. Besides staring at four wall and some really terrible hair moments, sex life everybody's rapping about sex nowadays, i'm sorry i put y'all through that. I don't know if this is gon na be a permanent decision, but i know like for right now. I am absolutely positively completely done with lace, so my first reason is my edges, baby screaming for me to stop wearing lace. This reason, of course, is not going to be for everyone, because everybody doesn't have a low hair line, but i do so in order for my lace front to be in front of my hairline. My lace front would have to be to like my eyebrows and that's not cute, so they can't do that um. My lace has to start like right here and that's like where my edges are and for the most part, because they do the cap and they got to be to like protect my hair. It'S not the initial applying of the lace and the glue that takes my hair out, but you know once you start sweating, uh humidity, any type of like moisture starts to loosen up the glue. My wig starts to slide back and since it's hooked on to my edges, my edges kind of go with it. So, literally, within a few days of me wearing a lace front, i start to feel this pulling up here and it never fails that my edges come out with the wig um and i have like little bald spots that i'm actually trying to grow back right now. So personally, for me, my hairline is way too low for a lace front, and i can't do it reason: number two: maintenance, lace, frontals and lace. Wigs are so high maintenance when somebody lays it on your head. It looks amazing for maybe a week and then, when you have to start doing maintenance to it yourself and relaying your baby hair and having to re-put makeup on it, so that it blends in with your all that maintenance that you have to do to it. It starts to look real wiggy, it starts to look real lacey and it just don't look cute, no more as when you first got it done also, if you're the type that likes to like wash your hair, grease your scalp and you have on a lace wig That needs to come off and how i'm putting it back on, because i don't know how i got to go to the hair salon to get it put back on in order for it to be cute again, because i don't mess it up when i've been trying To do my edges and and now the lace is balding, and now i just got ta re-cut the lace and now that i'm re-cutting the lace - and i put it back on my head in order for me to have edges on my lace again now it don't Fit my head no more because i cut more lace, but when they do it at the hair salon, it looks good. It'S too much maintenance. I can't do all that um number three, which kind of falls in line with number two: it's the cost. It'S not cheap to have a really good lace, frontal or a really good lace, wig, and it's not cheap to find somebody who knows what they're doing to get it put on. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on the actual lace unit and i have spent hundreds and hundreds up to thousands of dollars to find really good people to put it on my hair. It'S rip hello, hello, get out of my room. Why are you going in my room? You know you cannot go in there blossom and it's way more costly than just getting a sew-in. So that's another reason. I just spent too much money on it for it not to last that long and for me to not like the results after a week of it being on my head number four and i feel like this is not gon na kind of be the last one. But these are, these are my reasons, i'm pretty sure. There are other reasons why some people don't like them, but this is my main thing. No matter who does your lace, you can fly out the best of the best of the best of the best, no matter who does your lace in person when you are in somebody's face, they do not look realistic, they look like lace, it looks like a screen Door on your head, even though, even though it may be blended perfectly, your hair may be laid, it may be colored correctly, and even the lace may match your skin perfectly, but all it looks like in person is a really good lace. It doesn't look like oh that could be her hair. It looks like that in pictures i'll say that much a lot of my pictures when i take pictures and lace when you have like a high definition lace, it does not translate on camera, which is good for like for me when i'm filming or when i'm taking Pictures or doing content for instagram it looks amazing, but when you see me in person and when i see other people in person that i know have gone to like the best hair artist, it just looks like a really nice lace front. It doesn't look like it. Could be your real hair in person to me, this is my opinion um. So i kind of am back in like the sew-in phase, where you're trying to guess where somebody's hair ends and where the sew-in begins. I just really miss when i've had realistic. Looking sew in, i just really missed the whole process of having really natural sew-ins and for me i took care of my hair way more when i did have sew-ins, as opposed to when i had to wave them wigs in my head. So thanks for coming to my ted talk, that is why i don't wear lace fronts anymore. This is my opinion because it is my head if you like lace fronts, and you think that they look great on you, that is you, y'all get real sensitive on this internet now, so i've got to give out display moves with somebody. Well, they shouldn't be doing your hair, like that, and you shouldn't learn them like. I don't have to. I just don't have time for it, but those are my reasons for not wearing lace fronts anymore. You can tell me why you do or why you don't like lace fronts in my comments, and i will see you guys in my next video i just want to let you guys know that i'm going to get um one vial of lip filler, because my lips Are like deflated and small, and i wanted to know if you guys are interested in seeing that journey on youtube, because i don't see a lot of black girls on here being open about their lip fillers. So i wanted to know if y'all were interested in that. If you are, please let me know otherwise, i will see you in my next video, okay, bye that was wayne, i'm not gon na okay, let me just say otherwise. I will see you in my next video, okay, bye, much better

Tonie J Beauty: As a hairstylist I 100% agree with this. It’s a problem for everyone. They are only for short term and special occasions. The best style is where the cost matched the time and skill of the artist plus gives longevity and low maintenance for the client.

Kluermoi: Especially number 4!!!! I feel so insecure about the screen door but the girls really act like we can’t see it! I always know it’s a lace... yes lip filler video

Jenn: These wigs are like a 12 step program that I don’t have time for. The hair + installation is the price of NYC rent

Strawberry Díaz: I’m glad you’re open enough to share this with us. A lot of females deny having any issues with their edges.

miss Cee: I'm glad somebody said it! I used to wear them consistently and my edges were in terrible condition. Then I just stopped. I kind of got hooked on it and started to hate how I look without it. Black women we have to love ourselves. We really walk around with a whole damn wig on 24/7 for what? We are being conditioned to hate who we really are!

MSLNT1: They don't look realistic and I'm sick of the overdone baby hair

Klassi Kiya: That's why I'm a half wig wearer. I have more half wigs than lace. And cheaper! Now they have the headband wigs and stuff so I'm loving the different options.

Brynae McQueen: No cap I do hate when they say what lace cause in person it’s nothing but lace

smh: I think all women experienced the hair phase where we have the thoughts now it's like "What was I thinking" lol. I love my leave-outs. Leave-outs for me is the most natural.

Messages from the universe: Thank you as a stylist I agree I don’t care what you do it looks fake , I’m tierd of customers wanting you to make it look like it’s growing out your scalp ‍♀️ I miss when customers wanted a simple natural sewn. And them lace wigs done made a lot of girls lazy with there own hair care. Great video ❤️

K C: I wore a lace front glued on one time and it snatched my edges right out. It’s been 3 years and I’m STILL tryna grow my edges. I’ve worn my natural hair since then, even on special occasions like my birthday. I like natural looking hair and what’s more natural than the hair I grow out of me head?! I wear the hell out of some silk presses and my hair is the most healthy it’s been in years. Plus I save hella money by not wearing extensions. They be cute on y’all though!

Savannah F: I agree! All these reasons are why I've never paid anyone to install/customize a lace wig for me. I hate sew ins tho! I just plop my wigs on my head so I can scratch my scalp at night, idgaf about baby hairs, I'm not a tv personality so that's ok for me lmaooo tryna save my edges too

Ms Jksn: I had a lace wig and it looked great I even got it maintenanced. However, when it was time to take it down my edges came with it . I’ve been using black Jamaican castor oil and edge entity! Brought my edges back and they look better. I’m going to stick to closures like I’ve done before.

Mickey V.: Yes, I agree. I rather do u part wigs, braids, or ponytails or just simply my own natural hair. We black sisters go thru a lot of changes to fit in just because our natural hair will never "really" be accepted in society.

30 yrs a nurse: Glueless Period! A $40 Synthetic wig u can sew one circle around the top to braids or plaits and wear 1 weekend or 2 weeks and SAVE your edges by moisturizing them daily! Never use glue!

Ms. Deidra: I've never worn a lace front, for all the reasons you stated. Those are all the questions and concerns I had when considering getting one. Like, install, reinstalling, effect on hair, hair health. Like, these weren't designed for everyday wear, they were initially for costume purposes and ladies became accustomed to making it an everyday look when it's not designed for that

Mrs. Edf: I totally agree I’ve been on a break from doing lace fronts my edges look great. And I’ve saved a lot of money too!

The Stamps: Girl! I know the pain that’s why I only do U-Part Wigs!

Cee2Random: I just wanna wear my OWN hair

MsShaSha1013: Wearing a leave out now and was loving it. Did my weekly deep treatments and its still breaking. Followed hairlicious regime. Gotta do protective lace wig for a month just to get it back together. Frigin hate wigs but its a good protective style

_PrettyBrownBrown: I had really bad thinning edges and I got tired of spending money on my hair so I got locs about 4 years ago and it was best decision ever . I think it may be genetics as well so I try not wear my hair in ponytail and buns too much .

Shay T: I’m so ECSTATIC that a real one finally came along & told the truth about lace fronts

DaFaBBMiSs3s: Me personally I love wigs. It lets me change my look without damaging my natural hair. It's a great protective style for me. Sew- in for me is alot of maintenance and I would always experience breakage. The goal is always to make the hair look natural when you understand that a wig is a wig an nothing that isn't natural will ever look natural, I learned to be okay with that. It's just hair to me mine or not. I just have fun with it.

Sher B: Great video. I don’t think a lot of women know lace fronts were made for movie roles and plays where you had to play a character. Not every day wear.

Mickeyon1: I'm so happy I found this video...I too have a low hair line( to my eyebrows with a widows peak). .so putting the wig in front of my hairline is impossible unless I'm going to wear the shit on my eyebrows lmao I wear 4x4s at times...and frontals...but I take long breaks to let my hair line breath...i done put my hair through some shit and it survived the 2000s with them 27 pieces lmao ..so I respect my edges cuz a chick love genie ponytails...thank you for this video babe❤

Diamondundr Pressure: I wear wigs but the lace frontals are too much work. I only use spray and I take them off at night. I also believe it can thin your edges. I like variety. I can’t stand having my scalp cover for too long. I’m natural so I can only do sew in or clip ins with kinky curly hair for it to look realistic.

Shyann Kelly: Edges or no edges you’re still pretty

Rachel DeMerville: Glueless wigs are the way to go. And the 5x5 lace closures.

Tameika H: My edges finally came back after my last lace front. Now I am loc’d up, free, and all my baby hair back.

Ms.Robin: This exactly why I don’t wear wigs I have no forehead...girls with big foreheads be living they best life lol

Elisabeth Marie: I think I had my lace wig sewed down one time. I may have spent around $200 on a human lace wig and I won’t anymore. I still buy lace wigs but I buy the synthetic hair that looks real and they are only at most $40 and they look so nice. I rarely ever glue my wigs down and I don’t do the baby hairs that just makes it look even more unrealistic. I just get a wig grip band and maybe some concealer so it will match my skin color and that’s it. And yes even in person people think it’s my real hair which gets me sometimes cause I’m like now you know damn well but whatever. A wig is a wig I don’t expect it to look exactly like it’s coming out of my scalp it’s just a cheap and inexpensive way for me to look nice without spending hundreds or thousand of dollars every couple of weeks and my synthetic wigs last at least two weeks wearing them every day because I take them off at night and still have my edges and hair underneath. I also wear half wigs too.

Valencia Ashley: Number one is exactly what I’m going through. It’s called traction alopecia let me know if you find something that grows your edges back

Donna Jackson: On point!!! As a hair stylist of over 30 years, there was a time in the early 1990's-2000's(This is when I started)when women (black women) wore their natural hair. Whether it was relaxed, curly permed( like wave nouveau or jerry curl) or naturally curly hair. The hair was a lot healthier and they had their edges . Just look at your childhood pictures or your mother, grandmother, etc. The hair was long, full and all natural. Women have lost themselves pursuing falsehoods thinking the key and solution is covering their crowns with fakeness, looking for something that is already there, been there. On occasion it's fine to switch it up every now and then but don't forget yourself underneath.

Sparkle Johnson: Yessss Ayana! I completely agree with you...I happen to have a low hairline too and ain't nobody trying to have a lace front beginning at they eyebrows its just not a good look. I've been loving the headband wig trend tho...allows us to show off our beautiful hairline without causing damage to your hair. I have been seriously considering going back to sew ins also so maybe this was confirmation for me to do that! Ps...love you on Growing up Hip Hop, I'm a major fan of the show!

LaTonya Joseph: Thank you soooo much for the advice I feel the same way

Sondra Green: Everything you said is the truth i tried it and it’s expensive and does not last

Glamgurl 561: I agree!!! I feel like laces and frontals are nice for a short period of time but also way too overrated.

Sirena: so are we NOT gonna talk about how she sounded like such a mom to her dog? PURE COMEDY

Keeping Up With Moe: Nailed it Thank you honey!!! We both have the same reasons.

Maliha Ariel: I don’t care if I see grid/lace on the top of the head... I like it when the edges try to cover the front lace on the forehead but besides that I respect the ladies and understand we like to switch up our looks and have fun! What matters is how you pull your look together because the right female can make a synthetic look like MONEY with her outfit and demeanor

Starlette Mitchell-Ford: Loooooooved this video! EVERYTHING you said is Facts! Your hair looks good in this video.

missyfw3: Thank you for this video! I was gonna get a lace closure but now I’m not!! Full sew in it is for me

SLB958: This is MY EXACT PROBLEM! I’m going to stop wearing lace as well “My hairline is way too low”

Ms. Amanda: Girl! Speak! I sweat profusely with the lace front on. I can’t be cute with it on. I wear my own hair or sew ins.. And girl, your hair is always fabulous on the show! Edges always laid!!

Prudence Pittman: Well everyone know that everyone is wearing wigs. No one looks at people anymore guessing if that's their hair like back in the day. Lol. It is all good. I'd rather wear my own hair out. Girl my edges are gone too. I feel you

King D: You’re sooo beautiful and I like your personality on the show. I think your lips are fine the way they are but you gotta do what makes you happy. Looking forward to more content!

shirley jones: I agree with everything you stated about lave frontal. I love them because I am 50 and the lace frontal makes my skin look tight which makes me look younger....lol

• SunniDayz •: can u do an update on your skin? it looks amazing btw! im currently still suffering hormonal acne myself

Cara’s Place: Yes!! Share the lip filler experience.

mamatosh05: You are the first to tell the truth! Although they look really nice & laid they still look like you have a screen on your head. You are beautiful you don't need lip fullers. People don't the years later after effects of having ish...pumped into to body. Your lips are perfect for you. I've always said " she's such a beautiful young lady" just the way you are.

AL’latrice 002: I have a low hairline ( my edges touch my eyebrows ) even when I get my eyebrows get waxed so that’s why I don’t either. You have a great point

TooPoised Diary: She ain’t lie nowhere! NOWHERE “It looks like a screen door” in person.

Lori Fossett-Diaz: Your stating facts and most of your reasons is the reason I don't wear lace. My husband hates lace because he said they don't look real and natural. I'm back to sew in or a wig with no lace

Brandy Compton: Hi! Do you have a “go-to” online hair supply store you would recommend for natural sew ins?

_LifewithJazz: Yes I done with lace fronts too. Cherish the edges

TammyTsWorld: Yasss exactly your right in point then lace wigs hurt.. That glue OMGG when you pulling it off is painful. Thank you so so much for sharing. Your so BEAUTIFUL ❤️!!

Zinzi noir: I’m new to this lace thing and I know I’m done..completely!! I just ordered 2 U-part wigs because i cannot..

Keisha Sellers: I remember back in the day hairstylist use to do your hair now all they have too do is put a wig on a clients head. Those front laces looks a mess after a few days. Then paid all that money for a 2day hairstyle.

Elecia Stewart: I always thought of you as naturally pretty. Your lips are just !!! Ugh I don’t want you to change them, but if you must...... I definitely will send positive vibes your way.

CANDY THA GLAM COOK: Thought i was the only one with hair line way to my eyebrows. I be wondering how the girls get the lace from ear to ear cause mine never fit and look good.

Cinnamon Tea: I like lace fronts cause Im baldheaded and I never had edges since I was a kid. My hair is THIN naturally my mom gave me amy first relazer before the age of 2, and I asked her to stop when I was 15 and haven't had once since. at 16 I got my first wig and learned how to make the hairline realistic before everyone started wearing them, now everyone wears wigs and they're expensive now I still do them myself, I liek to take mine off every night I do the rubber band method and use got2b as well fro extra security, glue always rips my hair out so I dont do the bald cap method I just use got2b glue. & you're right the lace always just looks like lace haha I always hide my lace though with "fly-aways" instead of baby hair,. but my hair is heathly, even if i do have a 5 head. thankfully this makes wearing lace wigs easier cause I dont have to put glue on my edges and i still have a realistic hairline,.

Paris Beatz: Yesss I completely gave up on lace wigs it’s just not there and will never be .

Nefer Persona: I left wigs alone due to the damage they can cause. My hairline is naturally thin so I try my best to protect it. Only wear them as needed in between my crochet braids styles. Plus they are extremely hot to me.

Monica T: I totally agree with you I have a low lying hairline also so the lace fronts are a definite NO NO. And I agree unless you are looking at a picture you can still tell it’s a lace front. Now some look like really good installed lace fronts but nonetheless a lace front.

Steph C: Your lips are perfect as they are

Phyllis Spencer: I feel you on the edges thing, cause I have soft curly hair.

Keyana Womack: We have the exact same hairline ... I do closures or half wigs for that very reason

Satira Jones: I’m done with the wigs as well. I stopped wearing sew ins due to breakage but looks like everyone is going back to quick weaves

Vanessa Ramsey: I’ve always been scared of the lace front wigs

Des B: I hate the way lace wigs look. Like she said I have seen some of the best stylist do them and I can still tell its a wig

tubers93: Use the Ebin lace glue. Comes out with water instead of having to pull edges out.

La vie Stephanie: You are pretty without it you look amazing

Krista Mcewan: #facts! Everything you listed is accurate. It’s also SUPER expensive!

Steph Steph: Good vid!! Always wanted to try lace front.. but this is very helpful

Jasmine 👸🏾: Facts I did lace once! And all my edges and some hair. What will you be using to regrow your hair?

It's Bigz: Believe it or not the glue less ones looks the best. Try no glue no nothing at all not for sure no bald cap

Tee Giavonni: Girl no i def feel you the rest of my hair is flourishing but my damn edges goneeee lol

ryan Amari: My dog is a four legged human ... so yes I definitely talk to him like he is my son...he gets punished too

sweetie pie: Do you just wear sew ins with leave out ? If so how do you keep your leave out from getting puffy looking in the heat? If you wear a closer which ones do you recommend? Thanks in advance ☺

Pretty Brown: This is why I don’t do a glued frontal at all. I only use got2be products and no bald cap method. It’s so much better and my edges are back healthy and looking full. The frontal installs with the bald cap method putting strain on your edges is a NO for me I see why you stopped boo.

jayyy london: I had to stop wearing frontals as well..... my edges was gone too sis

Berdjina Jean: Dang, I should've watch this video before I got mine. You hair looks really nice.

bunni jae: I completely agree but for me a sew- in is just as bad because the thread tugs at my hair so my hair comes out along with the thread.

Lovely Lovebug: Ayana you are absolutely beautiful and your eyes are soooo adorable❤️

Tia L.: I'm so happy someone finally mentioned this. Its cute from afar.

zoeysampson2022: Amen and kudos to you someone kept it all the way real everything your saying is the truth to a T like for sure

Jinks ImPretty: TBH I Never Stop Wearing Sew In Weaves I Enjoyed Them More

Brie Brianna: Omg yessssss!!! All these are the same reasons why I can not anymore!!!!

Tashie Wiley: I’m over lace fronts too and I’m over sitting in the salon for 6+ hours for a sewin

Pretti ' LilThing: This is crazy how everytime I look at her. She looks just like Reginae lil Wayne daughter.

J. W.G.: Appreciate your honesty...more women need to follow suite...at what point does the fakery stop ? Like seriously, close up old lace & wigs do look nasty with all that shit gooped up...glue...make-up...gel...and whatever else yall use....I'm all for natural hairlines & length...that's SEXY!!!

adrienne bryant: Finally somebody told the truth!!! Thank you

Graci T: I don’t know who you are I came across your video but let me tell you something you are naturally pretty I’m pretty sure you got on make up and I see that we’ve your hair but I can tell that you’re just a naturally beautiful young lady you don’t need no lace front I like your hair the way it is now I think just a nice simple so and leaving some of your hair out in the front and making it blend with a few tracks will be all that you need you don’t need much so I hope you stay away from the lace front because I can’t stand them neither God bless you

Jeanell Reynolds: I totally agree. I prefer sew-ins. I'm over the lace. You are pretty but I'm open to see your lip journey.

mshershey757: I was looking for half wigs and this video came up……yes I agree I can’t do lace fronts.

StephanieKBG: Have you considered glueless wigs before you retire wigs all together? My ass hasn’t used glue in 3 years and I have a lower hairline

S. Jones: Great content..... u said what some people are afraid to admit

Goddess OnDemand: you had me cracking up because i can so relate !!!

Whitney Meulink: I had to stop with the lace, too. It was snatching my edges

Rose Gold_7: This was real. Thank you ♥️
