Welcome back to my channel and thanks for joining me on my part, two of how to wash your wigs on my last video, i showed you how to prep a brand new wig today i'll be showing you one that is super dirty and way overdue. Another wig that is not so bad, but a different kind of build up from your lace glue, which is a little more tacky and sticky, as well as the wigs. That really aren't that bad. But you can keep on top of with just a little maintenance and you don't have to wash the full wig. So these are the wig stands that i will be using and i will definitely link those in the description down below if you're interested in checking them out. So now, let's get started first, i'm starting with hot water. Now this tip, i actually got from one of my viewers, which i always appreciate - the feedback that once you use a hot water to dissolve the shampoo or conditioner. It makes it so much easier and then you just add in the cold water. After it's mixed to your desired way, so now i'm adding water to cool it off, because i do not wash my wigs in hot water, i wash it in more of a lukewarm setting, so these are just some of the things that i will be using today. I love this revlon brush because it does not snag on the hair and then i do have a wide tooth comb, but first things. First, let's deal with this buildup, so i'm going to be using my dawn and this one i have a ultra platinum. But really all dawns are pretty great and i love it because it's gentle enough to not destroy your wig, but to get rid of that build up pretty fast, and then this toothbrush is just a extra soft bristle brush. You can get this at any drugstore or online if you choose just something: that's not going to be rough, but to gently ease that hairspray off now, mainly, this is a hairspray buildup, because a lot of times, i'm just plain old lazy and i will just spray Some water or spray some more hairspray and use some of what was previously there with a little bit extra and that's all you need to go. But eventually it will get to this point and you will have to deal with it because it will show through your wig, and you definitely don't want to see that through your lace. So i'm just going very gently, you can go in one motion. Sometimes i go back and forth honestly, it kind of just depends, and it depends how much you have on there, but regardless just make sure that you take it nice and slow, and it will start to pick up. I will start to speed up the video in some areas where it gets repetitive but, as you see, i'm still using a small circular motion or back and forth to work that glue or hairspray out of the lace. So i have done this a few different ways. In the past - and it's totally up to you and what you find works best in this case - i'm pre-treating the lace front area first, with the dawn. Sometimes you can put the dawn on and let it soak in with the shampoo completely up to you. But honestly, the longer you soak it the more it's going to come off and the better results you're going to get - and i definitely was not very patient when i did this filming. So, besides the treating of the adhesive itself, i didn't let the wig soak too long, but i was still pretty pleased with the results and at the end we will compare before and after so you can see how big of a difference the don made now you're. Probably wondering - or you have seen previously, someone use some like rubbing alcohol or 90 - i'm not saying it doesn't work, but for me it's a little too extringent and strong that i find that the hair breaks off faster and easier, not to mention the smell and because Of everyone's predicament, right now with the pandemic, good luck finding some rubbing alcohol, like it's all, sold out everywhere, but if you have it by all means, go for it. I just find that the dawn is a lot gentler. So with the shampoo you see, i just tossed the hair in no scrubbing no rubbing, you just want to let it soak and it washes itself now same process for wig number, two going in with hot water. First, dissolving all of the shampoo just so it's not chunky and messy, and then cooling off the water in order to wash the wig. Now, let's go ahead and get rid of that icky sticky glue. As you can see, it's a lot shinier than a hairspray hairspray is normally pretty matte and they do build up differently. But, ironically, i found that the dawn got rid of the lace glue better than it did the hairspray, which is kind of weird. It'S almost like the fact that it's gooey it doesn't set into those little tiny grids in your lace and it kind of just rolls off. So after i pre-treated the entire perimeter, you can just go around with your fingers and gently rub in a forward motion that way. You don't rub it back into your unit, but you're getting it out to the edges. This is one of my fake scalp units and, as you see, some of the adhesive or glue did get on that double layer, because that double layer is a pretty delicate material. I don't scrub too much on it, or at least not much directly, and if i did it was in one direction and again very soft. Although it is sped up in some areas, it may look rough. The bristles are mega soft and i was not applying much pressure at all just wanting to dislodge and loosen anything that was really stuck to the wig. But for me my main concern is the areas you can see, especially after applying your wig. So that would be the main border. As for the double layer that too much doesn't bother me because no one sees it that just helps give you the better illusion of a scalp like um. You know natural look. So after doing that, i do go around a couple of times. The first time i used just the shampoo water then went in with the dawn as a second layer and just kind of worked it around. Until i use my fingers to pull it off, which you will see in a second, it literally rolls off into like these little balls. It'S really weird and not a very fun texture, but the point is that it comes off now. I'Ve had a lot of my followers. Ask me: how often should i wash my wig and that's a really difficult question to answer, because everyone wears their wigs for different amounts of time and also uses a different amount of product. So for me, because i switch in and out of several different wigs there's, not one wig in particular that gets a crazy amount of wear, because i alternate - and i don't really use that many products for the most part unless it is like a serum or some Conditioner for the curlier textures, so it is kind of up to your discretion. How often you're going to wash your wigs, but just remember that it's not the same as washing your hair like it's not as vigorous, it's not as rough so anytime. You want to soak the hair because you feel like it's a little weighted down from products. There'S nothing wrong with grabbing a container, letting it soak in some shampoo for a little bit to get off that build up and then, of course, always following up with the conditioner to keep your hair, nice and soft. So now that wig number one has been sitting for a while went ahead squeezed off the excess you never want to ring or twist your wig, just gently press it out any excess water and then i'm going along the perimeter just one more time. Just in case anything else was left behind, but it's already a huge, dramatic difference. And, yes, you can still see the lines on the areas where i previously applied. Some pressed powder for parting and i went ahead and left that because for the most part i only alternate from a side part to a middle part. I don't do anything crazy fancy, so i just wanted to make sure that the build up of the spray was off now that that is done. We can go ahead with the conditioner and the same thing. I'M just waiting for the water to reach a hotter temperature. That way, i can dissolve that conditioner, especially the conditioner, because shampoo will dissolve pretty quick, but conditioner is pretty thick, so you'll get more chunky pieces. But ever since, following one of my followers advice, it really came in handy because don't forget you guys, i absolutely cherish your comments and i look at every single one and reply as best as possible, and so i love the feedback, keep it coming because not only Will you guys pick up things for me, but every now and then i'll pick up things from you too. So i always appreciate those gems so now that it is in the conditioner, i am going to go through and detangle lightly. I went very light with this brush. It is a detangling brush of sorts, but it's really not the greatest, because i find that it doesn't go all the way through the hair, so you'll feel like you got it detangled and it really hasn't gone all the way through. But regardless i will show you a little later how you can brush it out when it's all done, and it's even easier than trying to do this. This texture by the way, is a water wave, 150 density, and i have had some questions on density. What that means, what's the difference 150 to me is a really happy medium, especially for curlier hair, because it gives you the perfect amount of fullness without being crazy and puffy. So this texture to me is the prettiest, because it gives you - or it gives me bohemian vibes very chill beach, wavy type hair and very easy to keep up with now it's time to just gently rinse it out, you can just put it back in the container With some fresh water and let it sit or you can use a sprayer like this - to help you gently get it out of the hair. I mentioned this before in my last video, but when it comes to conditioner, i'm not so concerned with getting every bit out because it's only going to improve the texture of the hair. So, besides getting out the majority, i just wring it out and then set it out on a towel. But look at the difference from where we started and where it is now very gently and without a lot of hair loss, which is most important to me. And hopefully it is to you too, so i showed you how i brushed it in the conditioner. But to me it's better to wait to the end and do it like this on top of the towel, because you can get through the hair, nice and gently without unnecessary snagging, and you can even lay it like this to dry as well. I went in with a paper towel, i believe, or maybe a wipe just to see if i can get out some of the leftover that was kind of hanging on for dear life inside of the grids, but that is too totally optional and not really necessary. You can do it with your fingers. Just be careful that when you go to pinch out the adhesive that you're not pulling through hair, because that can happen every now and then and it is pretty frustrating when you go to apply your wig. If you have all of these, like straight hairs grabbing onto the glue, so do it very, very gently just enough to get out any excess, but nothing too aggressive. Now moving back to wig number two that has been soaking a lot longer than the previous wig notice. How it makes a huge difference in the ease of removing the glue like it just rolled right off, so i definitely realized through this process that it's best to pre-treat your wig with the shampoo water that you've already diluted and mixed, then using the dawn to work. In and kind of use those circular motions to remove anything, deeper impacted and then allowing it to sit as long as possible in that shampoo water, because it was just 10 times easier and, as you see it, just clumped right off of the wig. Now, of course, the difference between the two wigs was that this was definitely an adhesive and not just a hairspray for some reason, hairspray when left uncleaned can really get impacted. So, regardless, if you're, using an adhesive or hairspray, try to learn from my example and don't let your wigs get completely out of hand and it'll be 10 times easier for you to clean it, because you won't have to work as hard and it will not take. As long to clean as you can see from the photo, it's a long cry from where we started and you do not see any of that shiny gooey residue left on your wig. So it was definitely a success. And then i moved on to the conditioner, repeating the exact same steps as i did with the first wig by this point in the video. I'M pretty sure i was not as patient and did not let it soak as much, but it's okay still got the job done and just wanted to show you guys. My process and here you'll see that from sitting in the water a little bit more of the residue came off and you'll kind of see it beaded inside of the wig, just pay extra attention and carrots to that and it easily washes off. But just look: how shiny and renewed the hair looks it's beautiful and now i have it on the wig stands and underneath i just put a towel folded in half, so it absorbs any of the extra moisture. But i'm not messing with the hair at all or using any kind of heat or blow dryer, just let it dry naturally, and now, as you see. Last but not least, we have wig number three now this is what i should be doing in between installs is a quick little touch-up remove any crust any hardening from your hairspray or whatever you use to apply your wig, and by doing that, you don't have to Wash your wig fully, because it won't be that um that messy that dirty, you can just apply a little bit of the same soap or dawn onto the toothbrush and scrub it in there lightly. So then it can dry and you can even install shortly after and if you need to do it right away, then you can use the cool setting on your blow. Dryer and that'll do the trick as well. So whether your wig is at a step one a step two or a three, please let me know if you try any of these tips and comment down below. I always love to hear back from you guys and now i'll show you what i did with this wig after it was done, styled it and braided it for the very first time and i loved it. So if you haven't subscribed already make sure you do that and click that notification bell. So i'll see you next time bye, you
