What'S up kings, it is nappy poo pop up on your screen and today it's a nap check. Video get ready with me. Yes, I just want to talk about wigs job, especially the natural hair, texture, wigs, which is what I wear for Jersey at the time. I want to show you how I like to apply these wigs and some other things too. I don't know we'll see shout out to her and giving here 40 minute with me for this. Video aren't giving hair gives you quality hair, but is there's a ask price? Okay, come till hours, natural hair, texture weeks, but kinky coily, the 4c. For me for a kinky blowout right, you want a good quality one. You might put you lose it. You might have to do sex to yourself. It'S an investment that will pay me open and hope I again, but this one unit right here, I would be to go, buy another one for nobody else. This is this, is it is what she's laughing at you found me so wearing units also saves me from doing, but when I used to do continue with some ways, I used to go, buy weed and do something for myself least once or twice a month once That switch over to wigs it just became a rack. It was like what someone I'm sorry who who's that, let me say this: it could be the way I apply. It could be how the nozzle it could be this. It could be hot where, but the end the day, it's all about the actual texture, it's all about the manufacturer of this week and how realistic they make it. Look this really. This literally looks like what my hair will look like. If I blow it out, I ran at the flat then, with one or two times not fall straight, but just you know a little straight all right Java, I just wan na get straight into how I like to rock my natural hair, texture weeks. One thing I do want to say what I've learned about wigs is that it's really good, but you can place this way on your hair on your head like so, and not necessarily have to use anything to tack it down into a lace tape, no lace, cool Hair, don't got to be gel, don't got to be spray, no bond hold you hold up hold the on under that. It'S really really good when you simply place on head and go about your business, and in order for this to happen is all about the extra stuff on the way the backcomb is your best friend y'all. It keeps the back of your weak down in case. You want to pull it up, especially if you have a full lace, wig or a 360 wig. It will help to make sure that the back of it does not fly down. In case you put your head down or swing your head, and so on. Okay, there's also the side combs, which is very, very much optional, even though mines are there. I do not use this. In fact, I'm not a fan of this at all at all. At all, because them side columns can be very, very destructive to your edges. I don't know, I don't even want to say. If you don't do it right, I don't think there's any right or wrong way. Those side cones just really really nice kinky, hair friendly. In my opinion, okay, I do use the bed, and this is what keeps my sides intact so that band I've learned through trial and error placement is key. Okay, you want to place that band in a way that is at an angle. Yes, an angle y'all, like back in the day I used to place my wig band to where it's straight back and I've come to realize. This makes my wig slide back to where I just can't wear it with just a band. So I'm looking for something extra to hold it down, but when you place it at a angle, it really helps to keep the wiggling your head so doesn't slide back. It helps to keep it tacked down and it helps that it lasts advances it above your ear. I use the back of the wig as a guide to where I want this man to be angled at so, if you try this out y'all you're gon na notice that your wig sits well for a light hold and you don't have to always use something else To hold it down, however, sometimes you do know, maybe you're gon na be going out that night. You pick the people around. You trust doubly in my tribe, snatch away brought for you, you don't need any or life so that when you do the extra stuff to me, the best way from me nappy food to tak my way down. If you use got to leave spray, possibly and so you've got to me spray, which is a pretty popular method in the wig world: okay, either spray or the gels. Alright say something y'all talk about my buster braids. If you want to little dessert alright, so I used a stocking cap, of course, as you can see, it's not according to my shame, so I do put on the powder or I put up, runs along to kind of dark in where the part is gon na. Be I like to take my wig I like to brush back the front so that way the lace is more exposed when it comes to lining and up with the spray, with the tackiness of the spray that you're going to see in a little bit see now, I'M gon na apply the weight to my head. I take the van, I stretch it and I start from the back. Okay I'll go ahead and take my comb and what I do is I slide the comb underneath the fan. So it's not going into my hair. It'S going underneath the van again no call no tension on my hair okay. So now what I'm gon na do is go ahead and get just lined up. I like to make sure that, on both sides, the band is meeting the ear. At the same point, that's important to me: okay, so now we'll take my god to be glue spray. This is my best method, because it gives me a good hold and I can remove my wig every night without any fuss. But I used to gel the gel. I'Ve come to realize that when I try to remove it, it leaves all the little white, specks and white pieces which I don't like. It definitely gives a much stronger hold in the spray, but the spring pulls it down too. So I tend to stay with this frame, so what I'm gon na do is pin back my hair or what I have done is turn back my hair, I'm gon na slide it back and I'm gon na spray a layer. I usually go with one to two layers. I don't need any more than that. I followed the line of where I want the wig too late. Okay, so my edge, it was a little weird, so you might see me get the spray a little bit into my hair. It doesn't bother me because I wash this off every single night. I take a towel and I wipe off the excess. Now some people do use the makeup brush method where you kind of Pat it on, and you know it might be a cleaner way of doing it, but it takes for hair, but I don't have time for that. One big, please! So I just keep it. You know I keep a straight gutter, I'm just okay, I wash my hands prior to so using my fingers. It'S not bother me and it's a cause like any dirt or anything. That'S if it's stuck one. I am doing this method so once I have that to my liking, I take my blow dryer put on high pressure, cool cool setting and once this tacky, which takes at least 5 to 6 seconds, you don't take long at all. I go ahead and start to line it up notice that I grab sections of my hair. I don't grab it from the very front in order to prevent the lace from tearing so I'll grab full sections, and I pull it forward and then I just get to line it up. Take my little bust it now and call them right there and press it into my hair, make sure I pull out any hair if Sam wants to roll in underneath the wig, and I just pretty much line it up. Y'All very minimal plucking when it comes to my wigs and I let my agents my edges, be I'm not a lay your edges, weak user. I come in just let those edges be free kind of like how I do my regular hair. Okay, when I do wear it up in the ponytail, and so I might throw a bit of definition, but trust me is not a line. I want it to look like how I would do maxilla inches once I'm done in the wig is intact used a long curly to define my part more. If I want to change the part up, the long curler is able to give you more of a defined part. You can use a flat iron too, but the Juan Carlos, with a lot more easier, all right. Now, it's on the flat iron. Alright, so I figure out well that are needs to be a great time to have a little chitchat. So what do you think about me saying what do you think about Naturals like myself, who wear wigs to protect the style? You know most times I protect style of ways that are natural hair. Texture, you know, curly is coyly, is kinky and so on. What do you think about? You know Naturals, who do protective style for surety at the time with weights. You know with weave and I'm accents, because I've been on some blogs that they feel like. I was like you like, a sellout selling out. It'S like you not really embracing your natural hair because you keep it covered up all the time and I'd be thinking to myself house wait. How is it that I'm not embracing my natural hair because I keep it covered up all the time? Could it be that that is my way of embracing my natural hair by not keeping it covered up? I keep keeping it protected, hence the word protective styling, and but I can also see that side. I can also see what they're saying it's like. You hate your hair, it's like you, don't you're, not embracing your natural hair texture, because you know it's always gone, you don't see it and I totally get that side too. I think it boils down to. Why does that person always wear always wear weaves, you know. Are you when are we for the purpose of covering up your hair? Because you don't like your hair, because you haven't fully embrace your kinks or your coils and even believe, I'm not some salsa, but some people they haven't embraced their curls. Look how well this hair flat irons, I'm just okay, sorry but yeah, so I just kind of feel like you know, what do y'all think? Do you think that you always have your hair tucked in away? Does that mean I don't like my hairs, I mean I'm ashamed of my kinks and you know I haven't embraced being natural like doesn't mean on it. I'M really really curious what y'all think cuz? I don't think it means all that I'll pick. It means all that, if that's not, why I'm doing it, you know if I don't have my hair tucked away, because I hate it, then that means I'm not. That means I don't have my hair tucked away because I hate it. I haven't tucked away because it's easier on me, you know cuz people tend to forget or better yet let me say what people tend to not realize, especially for those who don't have kinky hair is that our hair breaks the easiest out of all textures. I, like curly, hair out of pointy hair, the kinky, your hair, natural side, hair breaks, the easiest and the quickest. All hair breaks, don't get it twisted. All hair goes through breakage and shedding our hair is more fragile and is more prone to breakage than any other hair type. Okay, that's why majority of us are a team protective style, because you know what it protects. Our hair love my natural hair, navigate it twisted at the same time. I know she doesn't do well being out and about all the time she doesn't. You know: she's high-maintenance, Couture, she's, introverted, okay. She doesn't like to come out too much and play with other people. Okay, but when she does it's a treat, it's a treat, she's feeling good. That day, I'm very happy with my hair, but I want to keep it protected. That'S how we have a husband who you know tells you, oh yeah, it's a new coworker. She seems really cool you like she, it's a she okay and he's my baby. You don't trust me, nothing! Oh, honey. I trust you. I just don't trust her and that's all it is. I trust my hair. I know my hair but the environment that I live in. I don't trust it to do it. I don't trust it to treat my hair right in a way that I can wear it out every single day. Protective style can be very beneficial for people, but it can be very detrimental to people who are lazy about who will be who become lazy when it comes to the maintenance. If you want to protect this value, still got ta maintain you hear you say that keep that scalp clean hair, moisturize 20 black in a period. You know, I'm saying so, that's why I love always cuz. I think I pop this sucker off every single night. Do what I need to do with my hair go to sleep if I want to do a bit a midweek wash go ahead. Do that pop the lid back on the next day, I'm good to go! I'M Gucci! You feel me so yeah! Overall, I don't think if I protect this collar. That'S how many say I hate my hair. I think that's a stretch. I did some learn. Oh, what do y'all think make sure you leave your comments and the comment box below trust me. You we have another kink out: okay, let's get that discussion started alright, so yeah I'll keep it over simple. Now it's kind of how I will look to work I'll leave the hair down, or I think you know what we're gon na change it up for this. Look I'm going to smooth the hair on back, take a headband, okay and I think so we'll be going for it simple sleep missing one thing: anyone out that weighs about Matt's request this house. No me look when I go to work. I have a glass of wine. I have this hair pulled back like this said how this is the style. I'Ve been literally rocking for at least two months or so it's just so simple. I ain't worried about nothing. You know just go boom, pull them back some. So don't look so bumpy at the edge area and boom. It just gives it a real natural look. You know the kingdom. I tell me st. my hair, especially not wear it like this. There we go y'all. This is how it goes simple. I'M feeling, like Donna, glasses on, go on or take them off still cute, as ever whatever, but most times I do have on my face. I just kind of feel like it adds a little bit more because I am looking quiet playing with just lip gloss and a little bit of mascara on my eyebrows to keep obtained. So I throw this on good together, so yeah y'all. This is this is why I do like these, because it's a simple pop one and go look. We talked about a lot of things today, y'all, but the number one Matt chat question of this video that I would love to know your response on. If you haven't already was, do you think you are selling out if you protect the spout like majority of the time, if you harmony, wear your hair, is that mean you not accomplish your kings? Does that mean you're not embracing your kings doesn't mean any of that? Let me know your opinion in the comment box below trust me. You will be helping another King Cup. Ok, I hope you enjoyed today's video. If you did, please go ahead and help your girl out by hitting that subscribe button and make sure you hit the bell right next to it. So you can be notified the next time that I am all up on your screen. Also, if you're bored during the week come on to hang out with me on Instagram snapchat Facebook. All of that, all of that - and I will definitely see on the next one now remember - have healthy hair you've got to do healthy things consistently. Okay, every food

Lana P: I think some people just want to say something to be saying something. Like, if it’s my hair & I’m taking care of it by protecting it & that’s one of the many ways of how I protect it, mind ya business! I agree with you wholeheartedly! I love my natural hair & I love it enough to take care of it by protecting it in any way possible & if some folks find that to still be a problem, that’s their issue, not mine.

Courtney T: I love wigs because they’re easy. You can switch up your style and transform your look effortlessly. I also appreciate the craftsmanship of a well made wig. I enjoy the process of making my own wigs and I get better every time. As for protective styling, whether it’s in wigs or in extensions, for me I don’t think it makes me any less natural and I don’t love my hair any less. The past two years my hair has been in PS 100% of the time. Because I didn’t have time to be fooling with my hair on a daily basis. I have a full time job and was in grad school full time. If anything it’s laziness, not because I hate my hair. I don’t care about anybody else’s opinion on whether it makes me less natural or not because their opinions aren’t washing, detangling or styling my naps so *pfbbbt* lol

ViserableVegan: 100% agree with you about the wigs, nappyfu. It depends on why you're wearing the wig and what's the health of their natural hair.

C. Sexton: To be honest, I wore my hair out more when I had a relaxer. Don't get me wrong, I love my natural hair. I've been rocking natural for almost ten years but I tend to keep it in protective styles because like she said, it's so fragile in its natural state sometimes. So to protect it, I tend to keep it in protective styles more than I wear it out. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Barbara Smith-Wilson: Great video. No, I don't feel it's a sell out at all. I know plenty of naturals that don't want to put chemicals in their hair, yet don't know what to do with their natural hair so they wear wigs or weave. They still take good care of their hair. Some professions I know have not embraced the natural hair journey too. I love the knowledge you have about hair, but I'm not 4c. I do twistouts 95% of the time and have heard that's not my natural texture. I don't like wash and gos and am only going to shampoo once a week. I do me.

marvinandjosh1: Some people use it as a crutch. They know nothing about their hair or how to care for it. I think that’s a problem. There is nothing wrong with protective styles but if it’s used as a crutch to prevent you from ‘being bothered with my hair’, I think that’s where the problem lies.

MEthelene: I don’t wear wigs or weaves but I watched this entire video because I just love Nappyfu. As for my opinion on those naturals who do wear wigs and weaves I haven’t given it much thought as it is their choice. I don’t see a problem with it, just not for me.

Raquel Fletcher: It depends on the person, I'm on a no wig/weave diet lol. I was a slave to the weave/wig so now I'm off for a bit at time I did feel like I wore them because I didn't like my natural hair, but in reality I just didn't know how to care for it. So now I'm learning my hair. And what works for her.

Miss Tieno: definitely depends on the purpose. I do love to use wigs when i'm tired of stressing out my hair so all these are for my hair's safety. and it's an easy go to style too. love you by the way Nappy. greetings all the way up from 9ja

Laadee V: Hey there! I had no idea that was a wig! I was thinking,"Nappy Fu flat ironed her hair?"

Allanna Green: I wish I wore wigs for the reasons people in the natural hair community say naturals wear wigs. My hair has thinned at the crown due to hereditary reasons. I did not fit the criteria for hair implants, rogaine worked but the hair will fall out after a while, scalp massages and other topicals yielded only temporary results. I wear a wig that, like Nappy Fu's, closely resembles my own hair. It gives me the confidence I need to know my shiny balding spot is not exposed. Can we quit requiring reasons for why people do what they do? Can we just not demand standards for each other? The world has already taken care of that. Respect each other's choices providing they don't infringe on yours. I really appreciate you Nappy Fu.

Tamisia Smith: Thank you for this great video! I absolutely love your spirit. As far as the whole wig sellout theory...its ridiculous. I have achieved so much growth wearing wigs. I love my natural hair and will do what I need to protect it. People need to stop being so negative and perhaps even try new ways to enhance their natural hair experience!

Linda Taylor: Thank you so much for making this video! I use to do the sew-in but that was too much tension on my hair and it would be worse after I got the braids out. I have very kinky hair and I agree with you that wearing wigs is not a bad thing. To keep my hair from breaking and shedding I wear wigs as a means to protective style. I love my own hair so much more now because I can take my wig off every night, rinse out the got 2 be glue and moisturize my natural hair when needed. It’s the perfect fix for me daily without the fuss—it’s easy and looks great while I protect my natural hair.

1ColleWorld: I LOVE my kinks! It took me a while to learn MY hair but now that I know better, I'm doing better. Protective styling: wigs, weave, etc are key. I have nothing to prove to anyone so I'm doing me. Thanks for sharing Beautiful!

Sarah Brown: I definately do not think you are "selling out" if you wear protective styling 95% of the time. At the end of the day, it is personal choice. I really do think we in the natural hair community need to calm down and embrace the many attributes that come with natural hair and natural hair maintience. We in the natural hair community are blessed to be able to have options as to what we want to do with our hair, not many textures are able to do so. Thus, I believe you should do what is comfortable and what you feel like. Though I do understand the point that they are trying to make about "selling out" , I believe that protective styling can help those who are still getting comfortable and/ or transitioning with wearing their natural hair. Personally, I am traveling and I do not have the luxury of getting a wig, weave or the like, but I do wear many silk scarves and always have my hair twisted. The reason is not, because I "hate" my hair, it's simply, because I do not have the time to style every day. However, when I do wear my natural hair, it is a "treat" especially for those who have not seen it before. Overall, I believe you should do what is comfortable for you and embrace your natural beauty wheather that be with a protective style or a twist out.

Memoir Young: Love it! Right now I'm wearing braids as a protective style against the elements but I'm missing my wigs. I braid (box or or micro)my hair every 6 weeks. Love that wig! Thanks for giving the good advice of never putting glue on your hair! Can't pass up an opportunity to plug while on here so go to barnes&noble.com and check out my work under Tonya Young #readabook

Steph: I wear locs now, but when I wore my loose natural hair for 13 years....I loved my natural 4c hair texture and I fully embraced it. What I didn't love was the constant breakage and the thinning out anytime I touched it. So, because of that, I kept my hair "protected", covered 99% of the time. Now that I have freeform locs and have naturally eliminated the constant shedding / breakage, i'm able to wear my natural 4c hair, do different styles and retain length MUCH easier.....I wear my locs out 99.9 percent of the time. Now, I am in love with my hair because it is thick and healthy.

Queen_Curlygrl 88: I've never worn a wig but I want to start next year, this was one of the best videos I've watch on applying a wig, very detailed for someone like me that dont know much about wigs....thank you❤

Jessica Dixon: Love the positive vibes and teachings of self love on your channel

Shakeeta A: I love my hair that is why I protect her by any means necessary. It doesn't mean im a sellout it just means i care for my lovely hair....Love you Nappyfu

M. Goodley: Would like to wear a wig but afraid of damaging my edges plus I have big head & thick hair. Most wigs are too small and too tight.. Pls do a video on how to protect edges when wearing wigs. Much needed. Thanks!

Daizha Lee: My opinions are changing on wigs for protective styles. I used to think that it was selling out, but as I come to understand more about my own natural hair and the many things that I can do with it, I can see why wigs would be nice, easy to prep, and managable.

Denyse Denyse: Girl! That's a wig?! You would have fooled me!

T K: It’s not selling out if you need to give your hair a break from styling. It’s not selling out if the texture of the wig matches your natural hair. We’ve seen your blowouts, that wig matches perfectly ❤️

rbutler64: I think wigs are an accessory, like scarves & jewelry. They're fun. Kudos to those who protect their mane from the harmful environment; you probably won't hear a complaint about how this cold snap is making their hair brittle or how that humidity is causing so much frizzing.

Loveline: You are so right nappyfu! I'm #teamnatural but my Arizona weather won't let it be great! I take very good care of it and I think that's all that matters. When I wear wigs it's to give my natural hair the love it deserves not because I'm ashamed of it! People should mind their own damn business!

Eve Bowman: I looks great! I love wigs to protective style! And I agree I love my natural hair I mainly wear my natural hair in summer months and love on it in winter months with my wigs! It works great for me the wigs acts as a nice warm cap and your hair is protected from the weather. During summer it get lots of sun and grow and thrive like beautiful flowers. Advice from a senior natural (60 yrs young) Love God love People! You mastered the whole thing! Keep being inspiring beautiful Girl

Live It Up!: I have 4c hair. Unfortunately I have alopecia areata, so I’ve been wearing wigs a lot lately! Praying my hair will come back. I love your wig NappyFu! It looks so natural!

f28j: Thank you, Nappyfu. I completely agree with your take on the issue of protective styling. I have very kinky and very coily 4C hair, and find it easier and faster to wear my wig and be out of the door at 5am when i have to leave for work. Not to mention that my coils need me to leave them alone and HATE too much manipulation. Now, in the end, it all boils down to me doing me. Everyone else needs to mind their own business and let people do what they want with their hair. Its getting to much with everyone thinking they know what's best for the other person's hair. To each their own; let people be. Thanks again, Nappyfu. Your hair regimen videos are packed with information and you brought my hair back to life♥️. Keep up the amazing work

Vanessa Hearn: Healthy hair is the most important aspect. Weaves, braids, wigs all give your hair a rest from styling.

Taquah Jameel: Great video as always. I have nothing to say about wearing wigs because I don't wear them. I just protect my hair by twisting and Bobby pinning it up and during a similar remedy doing the week. You look great wig or no wig. I am learning so much thank you for sharing knowledge.

melinda lee: Hey gurllll, I’m a natural that hasn’t worn a wig before but it’s some beautiful ones out there. I’ve been naturally for 3 years now and love it. Don’t get me wrong in the BC stage it was real and thought about getting a wig but I thugged it out and embraced the process. If you are a natural and want to rock a wig then you Betta rock that wig girl or boy!

R. Danielle: Protective means TO ME.... that you are loving and appreciating your Natural hair. Because protecting is healthy if you are doing it correctly! To whomever is reading this, Happy Holidays!!! You are Gorgeous and Loved

Chenelle : I love how natural it looks!

Nikki J _23: For some that might be the case. I have type 4c hair which breaks very easily. I have been team natural for two years and still trying to figure it out, so for me it’s what works and it’s convenient. I have accepted my kinks, which was hard for me but I embraced them and love them. It’s who I am and what I was blessed with! Thanks for sharing!

Sheila Spotts: I don't believe it's selling out if you wear protective styles. If anything you're looking out for your hair. I'm a 4c blonde girl who has even more issues with dryness due to the color of my hair. I HAVE to do different things to keep my hair healthy. But I'm also 35 weeks pregnancy and know I'm not gonna have the time to fool with my hair as much with a new baby. So, do you boo boo! If protective styles keep your hair healthy, and you are confident in it, i see nothing wrong with it.

Lanue: I love protective style. I do yarn braids and I still spray my hair. Doing this my hair is growing. No, I am not selling out.

mzstepz30: Lawwwwwddddd thank you!!! You made this so easy! I wanted to try wigs but it just seemed so difficult!!!! I with you. It depends on why you wear the wig. I want one so I can just wash and go for real, lol. I love my hair and rock it all the time but I do want to wash and go and also protect my real hair

Oluranti Oyetayo: I'm very much for protecting my hair. I live in a state where the winters are very harsh so I have made a conscious effort to wear protective styles during the winter and in the spring and summer months I rock my natural mane to its full glory. But I do agree that some of our fellow naturalista mamas use protective styles especially wigs so as not to bother with hair day routines. At the end of the day our hair is individual to the person's head its growing from, to each his own

Lena: In regard to your question maybe I’m of a rare mindset where I feel like people should mind ones business. There are lots of reasons naturals wear wigs, and say someone hasn’t embraced their hair I think that’s their issues to work out. No sweat off my back and no money out my wallet. Who are we to judge anyone at anytime got my own problems to be concerned with what others do is all I’m saying.

hoosieraussis1: Yes, I am embracing my natural hair if I protective style most of the time. Sometimes people's lifestyle just doesn't allow for wearing their real hair out. It's time consuming, especially as it grows longer. I wear wigs, which are always a natural textured. My hair texture is 4b/c, and I had actually found ways to wear my hair out and still see growth. I wore low manipulation styles (twist outs) which I could rock for 2 weeks before manipulating/washing again. However, my lifestyle no longer supports that biweekly, weekend-consuming maintenance. I now work about 65-70 hours a week, and don't have time for my hair. The best way to keep my hair healthy is protective styling. My real hair (near waist-length) is braided underneath in 4 big cornrows. I take my hair down and wash, deep condition, and re-braid once a month. Weekly, I spray my hair and scalp with a water-based moisturizer, followed by oil.

brighteyesldy: Nappy Fu....there always someone that needs to place his or her reflection on you! Doing your wig well!

Tiffany Rauls: I think as long as you are taking care of your own hair underneath the wig I would not care what others think about it...I personally love wigs❤️❤️❤️

Angel P: I just finished watching your trimming video and I was wondering, what day would you trim when you start to notice the breakage? Would be the day you noticed or after wash day? Or perhaps during wash day? Love your videos and today is my prep day :D

Tara Walker: I am all for protective styling whether it be ones own hair, or a wig or weave. However, for ME, I preferably rock my own hair, because I do love the way it looks and behaves. To each their own.

Amanda Dodson: Im thinking of getting a wig to switch up my look. Great video--looks easy enough. And no, your edges are not gone

Yalonda Johnson Packer: Hey NappyFu!! I definitely don't think it is selling out!! I will slide a wig on in a minute because I know particularly my kinky hair does not like the dry air. I may wear it our once or twice but I'll either wig it out or do a sew in. As you say...to have healthy hair you have to do healthy things!

Goldblum Lover: I love a good wig, its a really good idea especially if you want to grow out 4c hair. Because here is the thing about 4c hair, if you want it to grow you have to leave it alone and moisturize daily. If you constantly manipulate it, it won't grow. That's the issue that has to be addressed and thats why wigs are brilliant. Extensions cause too much tension. Wigs are a happy medium. Especially, if its a wig that looks like type 4 hair. Thats my take. And finally I don't agree with the sentiment that wearing protective styling means you don't loved your hair. White people wear all kinds of wigs and weaves. The difference is they wear wigs that look exactly like their own hair. I want to see more black women wearing weaves that look like type 4 hair because IMO it just makes more sense. Love your work NappyFu!!!!

MoalaTheArtist: I don’t think protective styling is selling out. I’ve been rocking different types of braids and twist for seven months straight. And today I wore my Afro. As you said it’s just easier.

FaithFanatic TV: Hair looks good on you girl, and your face looks amazing!

The TwistedLibrarian: I think a lot of people have different ideas of what being natural means and they stick their definition of natural on others. And as soon as you do something unexpected for them like protective style by means of wigs, weaves, braid extensions, etc. they think you are ashamed of your hair, NOT THE CASE.... We are individuals with free will to exercise what's best for use. The sooner we except that fact the more helpful we can become to one another.

Nokhaya Ngwenya: I love my hair. I love my job too. I work in the food manufacturing sector and the legal requirement forces me to wear a mop cap. That thing dries your hair out . I can’t torture my hair like that. I choose to wear wigs to give my hair a break from breaking.

Hazel Patrick: I wear wigs most of the time because it fits with my lifestyle. I grace the world with my natural hair presence on special occasions because she is HIGH maintenance :-)

Kiera's Journey: I love the way you explained it in regards to trusting your hair but not trusting the environment. I have high porosity 4C Hair and it breaks off very easily. I dont get sew ins because it breaks my hair off but wigs however is a great protective style for my hair. Also braids are too. I take good care of my hair under my wig and I wear it out at times. Im still trying to learn how to style it. But I got the taking care of my hair down due to learning a lot from you and green beauty and also listening to my hair and what she tells me. Great vid Nappy Fu. I have to try this wig out because it straight up looks like it's coming out of your scalp.

Fun Sized Dancer: I love a wig. I do both depending on how I feel. I want that wig!

kellsy h: Well before the wig and weave craze we have now we all last wore our hair without covering and it grew. It just depends on the care you take of the hair AND how you style the hair every day. Some did the Wave Nouveau/Jerry curl styles and their hair was very long. So it can still grow while out its just what you do with your hair(styles and moisture) that affects its growth and health.

Rachel Nelson: My boyfriend and I just had a conversation about this a few days ago. He thinks people like that haven't embraced themselves, and I think it depends on why you're doing it. People do the same things for different reasons, so quit assuming if you don't know the intention behind the action. This is ESPECIALLY true for people who don't even deal with their hair or who don't have a similar texture.

docteddy44: I wear my hair out 70 percent of the time. It breaks a lot. I like wigs personally, I am lazy , it is easy. You do you. As long as you take care of your hair.

melissa goodwin: I see nothing wrong with naturals wearing wigs, my hair is thick and breaks off easily when exposed and too much manipulation. Plus I work in the health Care system so time to do twist out e.t.c is sometimes not there

dlwriter: I haven’t used a wig since I was a teenager, decades ago. My protective hairstyle is pinning up my hair or wearing a ponytail. Living in a polluted area means I wash my hair more often, moisturize, and take cut the ends every so often which means my 4C hair isn’t very long. I don’t dye my hair either.

Kiki: Protective styles are good for us naturals because we all know the more you manipulate the more damage you can do. Plus its good for growth too. Now when I walk around in my braids I'm "Aunt Jemima" & Its not professional in the work place. But when I wear my wigs I'm being fake. Nobody's ever completely happy lol

Jameli Amyai: I don't mind naturals wearing wigs. I don't think it means you haven't embraced your natural hair TBH. It's a form of keeping it safe and decreasing manipulation to it. Protecting your hair is protecting your hair. Periodt!

MARVA SIMMONDS: I don't normally make comments but I completely understand. I was one of those nay sayers that thought wig wearers were not embracing their natural beauty. A coworker started wearing wigs and I asked her why...her explanation made sense. Her hair growth hit a plateau and she's giving it a break from the the constant manipulation. I did some research and decided to started wearing wigs as a means of protective styling as well. To tell the truth I love it...don't know why I didn't try it sooner.

Koolin w/ Kendra: My hair had grown SO MUCH from wearing wigs. Winter time is wig time. Btw, I had a wig like yours and I brushed and washed it incorrectly and now it’s stiff . If anyone knows how I can get her back, lemme know!

Jesussofly: When I first got the big chop, by force! My hair was falling out. I never protected my hair. When I got in the arkward stage, where I didn't know what to do with my hair, I went to wigs. Back then, there wasn't any lace fronts so, I had to rock it how I rocked it Anyway, after learning about how to care for my hair, I didn't worry much about protected styles. I just twist my hair and wear scarfs as my protected styles now.

I Mac: I think there's a difference between protective styling and keeping your hair covered/hidden. It is all about motive. Do you not like the way your own hair looks? Are you tired of "dealing with it"? . . . At the end of the day my opinion is my opinion but I can't help but wonder how much a person that hides their hair under other hair doing things to this other hair they wouldn't do to their own hair actually loves their own hair. Shrug

Brianna Jones: Happy Sunday Nappyfu crew washed my hair earlier this morning & I need to start saving for a natural wig like yours but Godgivenhair is to expensive .. to your question no if you are taking care of your natural hair as far washed day and moisturizing it weekly you are not selling out . Like you said 4 type is the most fragile and sometimes our hair needs a break

Kiki: Nail color is POPPIN! And I do AGREE those side combs can pull some of your edges out. I see no purpose for them.✌

Be Savvy Sassy Tees & Trinkets: I am disabled and cannot do my natural hair frequently due to pain, so wigs or chunky twists are it for me. I love my kinks, and I cover her for her safety.

ms u LOVE: IM NOT YELLING, BUT IM SOOOOO EXCITED . LOVE YOUR VIDEOS YOUR PERSONALITY, AND ALL THAT YOU SHARE. YOUVE HELPED WITH MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER, HAIR, AND SELF ESTEEM. THANK GOD FOR YOU . LOVE!

Jewelgrafton: I was just thinking, " I ain't never gonna spend that much on a wig!" Then it occurred to me: the last time I got a weave if cost more than $200 and lasted 3 months. The wig, made for my big head size is a much more practical option.

Kyla Small: Tbh I'm fed up of braids extensions and stuff... wigs are just my new go to protective styling. As females we always feel the urge to switch up and ain't nothing wrong :) #StraightWigs #CurlyWigs #straightweave #curlyweave whatever lol when she's (my hair) is ready to socialise , she will :D

LINDA Brunson Smith: Love the natural hair wigs...you look good girl...I support it; whatever brings you joy...

Tee JustTee: No, I don't think we are selling out if you wear protective styles the majority of the time. You hit the nail on the head when you said that the kinks hair be breaking the easiest. For sure. We 4Cs or 4Zs (cause she be in all sorts of z curls and knots) need to keep our hair in protective styles if we want that length retention.

caramelcocoa234: I’m like you I get both sides. I’ve made so many long paragraph comments about protective styles lol. Ultimately I want to embrace less wigs because I want learn how to care for my hair and to look polished with my natural hair not like celie or uzo from orange is the new black once the wig is off.

Erica Bedia: I just wish someone would come up with a way so our hair can be worn out more frequently. Half the time I always feel I have to wear a protective style because my hair temperament is unpredictable. This is the only reason why I missed relaxed hair, is because of how often I could wear my hair out.

Schnieline: That’s definitely me with wigs. I love them now. No more sew in

HealthyGemini: I love this wig on you! Do you have a video on how you bleach the knots on your wig or someone you can refer? I know there are a bazillion videos on YouTube but this unit looks really good. Love it!

ReginaB4JC: That wig is awesome. I feel there is or should be a balance to wearing your natural versus wigs

Michelle Preston: It seems that people who don’t have 4c hair are quick to tell us what we are doing wrong or that somehow we don’t know our own hair. Yes some of us don’t but when you hear multiple women with similar hair types describe the same issues then there might be some truth to it like 4c is the most fragile of hair types. That 4c hair is prone to tangles, fairy knots and extreme shrinkage. I’m sure you heard people say they just wash their hair run some product in their hair and go. 4c women don’t have that luxury we have to take care that whatever we do to our hair that afterwards we don’t create more damage because of such style and that includes braids, weaves wigs etc. 4c hair is a job it’s work.

HerSassyAF: Hello from London! Really interested to know how long you've had this wig? I wear a similar one from another company but find I have to change it every 6-8 months. I'm wondering if this wig lasts longer as it's quite a bit more expensive!

Miss Risey: i think you can still be natural there's nothing wrong with wearing wigs sometimes you just rather pop something on and go! I'm natural and love me a good wig lol

Iman Naomi: just want to say, your skin looks great.

alison hilaire: Imo people who think that you are a sell out for wearing protective styles just assume there is only one unique reason to not wear your natural hair: you don't embrace it. To them, I'd like to say that there are other possible reasons: lack of time, avoiding damages during cold/hot months, changing your look, etc... So let's not jump to conclusions.

Faith Gipson: I don't feel that rocking pro styles most of the time is a sell out. Like you said, it's that rationale behind it that matters. However, I didn't become a natural to continually hide my hair. I look forward to the day, once I reach my hair goal length, when I can allow my crowning glory to shine on a daily basis.

Tammy Kelly: No I don't think wearing a wig is cheating. As long as you're keeping up with your natural hair regimen. ✌

cheri james: Your skin is popping have you added any products

crab rangoonz: I do believe there are some people who use wigs and other protective styling as a mean to escape their hair. Those people may still be uncomfortable or accepting of their hair texture and tbh thats okay! learning to love and accept yourself (including your hair) ain't easy and I with those folks the best on their journey. At the end of the day though, for the rest of us-- my sentiment is you do you ma. I've personally never worn a wig or weave but I do other protective styling the majority of the year. I go through periods of 2-3 weeks of wearing my hair out and then back up in a PS it goes. I grew up natural and thats just how it's always been, lol. My mom and relatives who are also natural and have been for the majority of their lives also follow a similar regimen. It's simply unfeasible to have my hair out and about for longer than a month. And a month would REALLY be pushing it. I grew up rocking twists out, corn rows, bantu knots etc. for the sake of time and the health of my hair and I imagine a lot of wig and weave wears feel the same way about their hairdo's. Ugh, there's too many (or too little) implications of "natural hair". This is why my I refer to myself as a kinky haired person, lol. Let people live!

MiaNaomi Post: While I agree that wigs are super convenient and easy as well as protective; however, when I was relaxed, I wore weaves for similar reasons. I liked weaves because they were first easy and protected my hair from heat, and I also thought the hair gave me a chic, more polished look. So with that being said, I don't think as naturals that we can reside on the excuse that our hair is "protected" so we get a pass. I think we should make the effort to represent our hair and continue to tear down beauty standards because truth is, natural weaves still give a level of comfort that our natural hair just doesn't. It's usually longer, it remains styled all day, it's less of a fuss and the hairline is neater even when they're remained a bit tousled or natural. Now, I am still going to order me a natural hair wig because mornings are not my friend for work and my hair takes forever to dry, plus, I just want a wig to avoid the frustration of my hair. Admittedly, I just like weaves! Lol Nevertheless, ppl, do what is right for you! I went natural accidentally because I wore sew ins and I had fibroids. Now that I don't relax, my fibroids are gone and my natural hair is the longest, thickest and healthiest it's ever been! Yet, I get frustrated, I want to relax at times because of shrinkage and tangles. My life is for my reflection. Ppl should stop judging and offer advice without condemning.

AliciaFromTheFarAwayPlace: Back in the day I used to find wigs a bit extra, but now a days, I really want one! Just something simple. No matter what I do my hair stays the same short itty bitty length and I just want something easy that I can throw on when I want that extra kick. Also, I'm an actor and my head shots have short hair in them, if I wear a wig then I can still keep my head shots as is! These are just my thoughts on the matter. I'm glad we're discussing this subject though. Btw I love your vids! ❤

NLT4Ever #1: Love the video, I stopped wearing wigs bc I'm spending too much money that I don't have and I like turbans way better.

Marlene Robinson: I am 2yrs in w/my natural journey however winter months are proving to be harder for me to rock my 4c in anything other than protective styles that don’t require water during the day. I am asthmatic and have a low immune system as it pertains to a moist head during cold temperatures. Wigs like this one would allow me to express a natural state of mind which I find divine. I love you & what you STAND for NappyFu

WitsNSass: My sister, NappyFu, I have found you! I'm not much of edge layer either! I hate gel and I just don't like product and hair laying on my forehead and sides of my face. I'm a wig wearer, I wear braided and twisted styles as protective styles. I also wear my own hair with no editions, but it's rarely all "out" - I'm more of a low maintenance updo or poof kinda gal as my hair tangles easily and I play in it too much when it's out. I do think some naturals use wigs as a crutch. But at the end of the day, it's their hair and we can do what we want with our hair. I think even if we mean well, we need to stop policing other people's hair choices. If a natural only wears weaves/wigs or never wears her hair out unless it's silk pressed, it's really none of my business. I have an opinion, but I live and let live (or try to, at least).

Mary Clarke: I plan to purchase a wig(s) in the new year. There are times when I just don't want to deal w my 4c.

Sharron Cuthbert: Nappy fu, if I hate my hair I would cut it off, like my belongings I take care of clean it and condition it, oil it, braid it up to keep it healthy and strong. I love the texture of my locks. I love wigs for fashion and style It's good to change up. I watch you Vlogs for your Info. Thanks

Amor Moreno: if i wear my hair 95% of the time i need to ask myself why. If i choose to wear a protective style and then have my hair out sometimes then I know its for protective style reasons. All my hair extensions need to look as close to my natural hair as possible. Wig looks great on you

monique gyampo: I feel that as a natural you need to let that hair out to play sometimes. It been needing some fresh air once in a while. I personally like to protective style in the winter and let my curls out in the summer. Or randomly protective style throughout the year and give my hair one month to break btwn protective styles.

Britt My: An uncomfortable discussion we as a culture need to talk about. The shaming of wearing protective styles needs to stop. We also need to make sure we aren't calling styles that arent truly protecting in the same category and like you said don't hide behind it like a crutch do to the society issues that have damaged globally the view of hair beauty.. the class system that has evolved around the texture of hair hasn't helped.

Lea: I like more natural looking wigs for the win! I think it is more realistic and honestly a lot of wigs look really fake even when they are 360 and lace front styles. Like upon looking I can see yours is a wig but my eye overlooks it because it looks very natural on you. No non-matching leave out or synthetic texture. It looks comfortable like your own hair. !

Leona Charles: You can't be "Nappy Fu" if your hair is not nappy. I'm tremendously sad that you stopped representing us 4c *naturals*, but I'm grateful for the work that you did in the past years.
