Adhering Wigs With Tape Using Walker Lace Front Tape

As most of you know I always adhere my wigs with It Stays. Well, because it is so water soluble (which makes is super easy to remove), it doesn't work so well during the hot summer when I start to get sweaty. Lace tape to the rescue!

Hey everyone I'm here to do a quick tutorial for you on how to use tape to adhere your wig. So, as most of you, who've watched, my videos know more anyone who's watching. My videos know I like to ensure my wigs with its days. It'S this adhesive. It'S a rollerball adhesive. I have a lot of different. I'Ve tried three different kinds and they all work the same to me. So just any it stays product works great and is my preferred way to have a wig stay on my head, but it's summer it's hot and tonight I get to go to my daughter's high school graduation. It'S like 93 degrees outside right now and we're going to be sitting on a football field and it is eating Sun. I'M a little worried. I haven't experienced this yet since I started wearing wigs just last September, so this is going to be an experiment for me and you, so what I'm doing is I'm adhering, first of all, the tape that I'm gon na use onto my wig first. So let me tell you what that tape is it's this Walker lace tape it's made to adhere wigs on and be put on the lace part of the waves. It looks like this. It'S blue people often refer to it as the blue Walker tape, because there is a red version as well. This one is clear: the blue is just the backing. It'S a basically a double stick tape made for waves. I have used it a couple of times before, and so it's not my first time ever, but it's definitely a learning curve. At least for me, I tend to have a little bit of trouble. It'S super super sticky. It sticks to my nails. I have some issues. Sometimes so let me tell you what I'm doing I've already peeled one off. I cut them in little squares, as you can see, and I step one here - one here in one here, so just spread it out across the lace on my wig and I already peeled one off and what I discover is you really have to press on it To make sure that it's adhered well to the way before you attempt to peel off the backing, otherwise the tape wants to come off with it. So when you do it this way, it seems to work a lot better. So, first of all put it on your wig and then press give it some time to adhere and then very, very carefully work at it until you get it to lift so that you don't lift up the tape with it. So that's what it looks like and now I am just going to put it on I'm trying to be careful not to get a hair fibers stuck in the tape. I'Ve hardened I've already got it sticking to my hand. This is why I don't do arts and crafts, I'm very clumsy when it comes to stuff like this okay, so I got it turned around and now I'm ready to put it on so I'm just gon na put it on like I normally do and it won't Stick immediately and you have to press it down, so I just put it on like I normally do and then I'm gon na get the wig situated where I want her to be make sure. I'M looking in the mirror behind my phone here make sure it's all lined up with my hairline and then I'm gon na press and I can actually feel it through the lace a little bit alright. So I'm pressing to make sure that's gon na stick. Pardon me, while I look so I noticed, and this happens just generally - I have a few little hair fibers stuck in here. If I can use my phone to do this, so I'm just gon na use my rat tail comb, I'm just gon na pick those fibers out, and that happens even when I use it stays so that went pretty well. One thing I didn't do - and I hope I don't regret not do this - is they didn't prep my head at all some people, I've seen talked about using rubbing alcohol to make sure that there's no lotion or makeup on their forehead. I probably should have done that. So, hopefully, that's not going to matter, you know, I do have makeup on and this is actually later in the day. So I've been to work already. I had another weight on and it had. I used it stays and I took it off. I didn't wipe the area. Town really wasn't thinking too far ahead. So the interesting thing for you is that I'm going to report back and let you know how this worked now, I know for a 100 % fact. If phase would not keep this thing tacked to my head, I'm going to be sweaty the second I get. Oh I'm practically sweaty right now, I'm in a bathroom with a fan on. You can probably hear it, and so when I get sweaty it stays just releases. Now that doesn't necessarily mean the wigs gon na go anywhere, and I have noticed when that happens. If i cool off - and you know, stop sweating it here, it reappears. I had to present at a meeting the other day a couple days ago, and I forgot my gnome. It was my talking points and it was like. I was on and I had to run to my office. I asked someone to stall for me. I had to run to my office grab the notes. It was a floor down run across the hall run back up a flight of stairs and by the time I got in front of the group, I was not only breathless, but I was sweating like just terribly. Luckily, it's all my HR peers and there were about 70 people in the room, but I know them all and they don't all know that I wear wigs, but I didn't feel embarrassed, but I was so sweaty that whole time I just kept praying that my wig. Wouldn'T go anywhere, it wouldn't start sliding back on my head. I 100 % guarantee you. If i would have gotten like this, it would have just lifted right off, but it did move and by the end of that you know I could after I was done presenting. I could sit down for a little bit. I completely cooled off and it was read her to my head. Fine later so, just a tip about that, but I know for a fact that it wouldn't hold, and so I don't know how windy it's gon na be so alright, so done it. I don't know if I want to pull on it yet cuz. I don't know if it's yeah, it's stuck, I'm not gon na pull hard, but right now it's stuck so hopefully it will continue to just dick the time I've used it before and when I heard other people use it, it really sticks hard. You can actually rip your skin off if you try to just whip off a wade when you've adhered it this way, so I do use Jagran Old Lace. Let go see if I have it handy so I'll grab it and what I'm gon na do is I'm going to finish filming this video and then I'm going to go to the graduation and I'm gon na come back later and I'm gon na take the weight Off and show you how I do that as well, so I'll splice, all of this together, I feel like this is blurry. I hope it's not bored of you guys, but it really looks blurry to me anyway. So hopefully this was helpful. So I adhered it. I'M gon na fix my hair a little bit. This is Shana my trestle or in the color sugar brulee. I'M hoping this will be a comfortable one. This is actually the way I wore when I presented the other day. I'M hoping this will be comfortable. It'S short. It'S really short and it doesn't lay on my nape at all, which meant the nape of my neck, the back of my neck, then Nate doesn't lay on the back of my neck um and so hopefully that'll be fine. I was gon na wear it girl mono, but she is just a little bit longer and I was just a little bit worried about how that would feel so. Hopefully, a Shana will have been a good choice. I'M very she's all adhered I'm gon na. Just trust that it's gon na be good and in just a second you're gon na see a seamless transition to me, showing you how I take this off hope. This part was helpful, hey everyone, okay, so I am back and I'm gon na show you how I remove my wig with the lace tape. I am talking a little quietly cuz, it's pretty late. After graduation, we went for dinner and forever to get our food and I'm really tired. It'S super late and everybody's getting ready for bed, but anyway, the way did great. I'M super hot out there, but the lace helped just fine. I'Ll, be honest, I didn't test. It sounds afraid if it would lift what I was gon na do, but I never felt like it was lifting. So I think it was really good and it's still on here really really secure, as you can see. So what I'm gon na do? That'S a cute! Look what I'm gon na do is I'm going to take this lace. Let go by John Renault. I think they've changed their packaging a little bit and it actually might be any black bottle. Now, I'm not positive, but it's called lace. Let go it's essentially like rubbing alcohol, and so you could just use rubbing alcohol, but you take it and you just spray it on where you have put the lace so just right on the latest front, essentially where I have the lace - and I put you know Three pieces, so that's what I'm doing, I'm gon na spray it and then I'm just gon na. Let it sit for a few seconds kind of let it start to do its thing, and you see it's lifting and sometimes, if I feel it pulling my hair, which I feel it doing right now, I'll just spray a little bit more because when I do put The tape on you know it's a square of tape, so some of its on my hair and some of its on my forehead and I know people will say I thought hopes I have a bobby pin and I forgot that's all there is to it. This was adhered tight and that's all it took so now. The tape is still on here and I'll. Just gently work on it to get it off, because it's loosening up on the lace as well. I'M just taking my nail, can't really show it real well, but just loosening it and it's just loses its stickiness and it comes off and it doesn't hurt the lace, the lace front, if you're careful and you don't pull on it too much - you just make sure You keep gently pulling on it, it will be fine, so that's all there is to it. So now there's two options for me: it's the it stays or it's the lace tape if lace, front tape. If I think that I'm gon na get sweaty - and I you know, feel confident that the intestate is gon na hold, I hope this was helpful for you. If you have any questions, let me know you know, I will probably do this. I'M sure I'll have an opportunity this summer to test it when I'm home and when I get all sweaty to make sure that lace, really the tape really holds, and so I can always update this if, for some reason, it didn't work as well as I is That it expected to, but I'm pleased right now, so that's it for today, thanks for watching

Donna Q: love this tape, works in water, roller coasters, and for any outdoor activities. I use the remover with a q-tip that easily lifts the tape without tearing out your bio hair.

Kiki B plays...: This video was so helpful, thank you! I've just bought some tape after using Ghost Bond for a bit. We've been going through a heatwave and I think that might be why the glue has been kind of melting and letting go (in this case raised body temp, not sweat, it's not water soluble). Tape also seemed like an easier option because it's applied to the lace, not the skin, so no more excess glue around my hairline Anyway, you've given me the confidence I need to install now, so thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up for about a week of wear. I also bought the Walker scalp protector which says you get a stronger bond more quickly, so no waiting for it to really cure. Edit: also forgot to say this wig looks great on you, I love it!

Sandy Ludlow: Hi Denise firstly congratulations on your daughter's graduation. Secondly, this video has been most helpful. I have never tried the glue or the tape. I have trusted in a wig grip and luck! However, I do feel a shift every now and then and am constantly checking to make sure my wigs in place. Something you're not supposed to do as it is a sure give a way. As it is winter here in the Southern hemisphere, I'm going to give the glue a try and let you know how I get on. Tx xx Sandy

ChooseHappy Mc: Great tips and very helpful. I haven’t had luck with It’s Stay… so I am going to try Walker Tape. Love the love and the style on you, super cute!

M.L.R: Thank you so much for sharing... I love how detailed you explained yourself...

Pamela Prescott: Hi Denise I used to tape once and it held pretty good. you look great in that wig that was a perfect one to wear on a hot day also.Love the color. Thanks for sharing.

Mary Ann Wettstein-Stoothoff: Thank you so much for this video. Extremely helpful!

Leeanne Barr: Awesome video Denise!!! Thank you for the details you share, nuts and bolts of wig wearing!!

Donna Jackson: Hey Denise. I've never used tape. Thank you for this helpful video!! Question: could I use this tape for the nape of my wigs?

Emily Rosenzweig: Congratulations on your daughters graduation! So exciting for you and her!!

Rude Velvet: This video is so helpful - thank you for your honesty and clear explanation of the process <3

Coast Daze: Great info. I'm a new wig user so I really appreciate your tips.

Cindy Delane: What wonderful information to have when I get my wig. I was wondering about heat living in Florida and IT STAYS. Wondering can you use both? A great wealth of info I have received from you as well.

Jude Christenson: Great video/I’ve been wondering how this works so it was really helpful! Thanks a lot!

Christina Knapp: Very helpful video! I can’t wait to get this tape!

GTOMama 66: Thank you Denise, really helpful. I'd think of a question and a few seconds later you'd answer it. :) I have more bio hair than you do, do you think the tape would still be a good idea?

The Girls: Thank you you gave a great instruction on this video.

Colleen Todd: Yes it was very helpful that I ran across this. Because I ordered the tape and was getting ready to use it and didn’t realize I had to have a different product to get it off. So I will have to order me a bottle of lace let go, before I use my blue tape. Thank you Denise for all your information

Micaela: This was very helpful! I got tired of slippage and the gunky residue from Got2B. (Haven’t tried It Stays) I decided to try the tape, which works well, but I wasn’t sure how easily it would come off. First day, I tried rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. After the alcohol ran into my eyeball and I still pulled out a few hairs, I went hunting for a video to help. I watched this and bought some Lace Let Go. It worked so much better and my few remaining hairs thank you.

Lonaa.x: Thank you for this video! Wanted to try this tape for a night out and this was perfect! Also you have such a soothing mum voice

Roy&Mavis Tanner: That was a great instructional video Denise. I perspire a lot from my head in the warm, humid weather and have found the IT STAYS doesn't hold under those circumstances. Although I love it, and use it, for all the other "normal" times when not getting overheated. I've just purchased the JOMI roll on adhesive which is supposed to be sweat resistant but I haven't had the right time to 'test' it out yet. I think our warm weather will be starting very soon.....finally!! I did use the Walker blue tape recently and was very pleased with it......I used a Cutip and rubbing alcohol to loosen it. Worked very well. I've also recently purchased the "HEADLINE -IT" liners but haven't used those yet either. Thanks for your great video's Denise. Very helpful and educational for us all! :) ~Mavis~

Jazzie Jae: Great video, thanks for sharing!!!!! Love the hair

English Conversations: I found this product at the hair system store last night and I was kinda sceptical. Thank you for clearing that out. Will purchase it ASAP

NyLashLady: Thank you so much for sharing. I am new to wig tape and this helps so much.

Sharon McCormack: Thank you for this Denise x Great information x Have a great weekend. X

Anita Rushlow: Good to know because summer is on the way and I have been reading other people also say the it stays is water soluble and I sweat easily. I have a quick question. I was noticing the lace on your wig. I just got a wig with the same cap features. But the lace on my wig seems to be wider than yours. In other words, the lace on yours seems to be closer to the "hairline" on the wig. Do you trim your lace? p.s. I am super new to wigs myself! I watch alot of your vids and sub to your channel.

sapat: I'm watching this November 2021, so am late to the party. Does the tape product, or It Stays leave any sticky residue on the lace? The tutorial is great. I'm a visual learner, so I love demos.

M.L.R: Thank you so much for sharing... your video is very informative and I just subscribed

hotpinkjulia: You look fabulous darling! I just love wigs so much! Xoxo

susie palmer: Thanks honey! Very helpful!!!

Julie Gogola: Have you ever tried a "wig grip?" It MAY make a person sweat more than the tape method though. I have many wigs and 2 "wig grips" BUT, I have never worn my wigs outside of my house before. I am worried about them looking "fake" so, I don't wear them out anywhere. I know, it sounds pretty stupid. I have bought lots of REALLY long hair wigs and many are marketed for black ladies. The ads for them show mostly black ladies, SO, that is who they are advertising them for MOST of the time, BUT, of course many white gals can wear them too. MY problem is that IF you are a white gal sometimes your hairline starts further forward than a black lady's does and the wig "fits different" on you, so, for ME, I have had to return some wigs because of how they fit me, really I do have an unusually short forehead. Many wig company's that seem to cater to white women charge MORE $$$$$ for the wigs and most of those wigs do NOT have REALLY long hair and the wigs seem to be in many cases "synthetic" hair and they want SO MUCH $$$$ still for fake hair wigs. I really wish that the wig companies that seem to cater to white ladies would make LONG hair wigs. I have bought many 100% human hair wigs for about $150 - $185 and they were advertised having black ladies in the ads, BUT, you try and buy a white lady geared wig 100% human hair and about 28" you will pay about $1,000.00 or MORE. Most of the black lady wigs are good quality and all, BUT, sometimes IF you do NOT have a small enough head, OR your hairline doesn't start up high, the wig will NOT look right on you. I HAVE gotten a couple of great wigs that were mostly advertised as being for black ladies, BUT, many just do NOT look right. IF you've got a nice little head and a high hairline then you can wear a wig that will cost much less than many other companies, but MAY be of high quality and it will perhaps be geared towards black ladies, and that is fine with me. As I said ANYBODY can wear the wigs that seem to cater to black ladies, I surely can wear them too, I just have to order a EXTRA BIG sized one since my head is bigger and my hairline starts further forward. My comments above have nothing to do with politics or race issues, I am just telling everyone how wigs seem to be so much more expensive for white lady wig companies than black lady wig companies, and MOST of us all CAN wear the Black lady wigs anyway, and how MY weird head makes me have to order extra big sized wigs, BUT I can wear the cheaper black lady wigs as long as I order a bigger size. Most wigs will fit us all, BUT, black lady wigs are much cheaper and have much LONGER lengths available, I am sure than any person who has been buying wigs for a long enough time and has lusted after one of those REALLY long haired wigs HAS bought a wig that HAS been geared towards black ladies. I say this because I have NEVER seen a "super long haired wig" that has been geared towards a white woman. I say "geared" simply meaning that in the ad it shows a white lady. MOst of the "white lady wigs" are boring and the hairstyles are NOT something that I could acheive with my own damn hair. Black ladies wigs are long and like some kinda fantasy that I could NEVER acheive with my own hair. Again, this is just something that I have noticed since I have been buying wigs, and I WILL say that I HAVE bought a wig from "bellami hair" also it is (strangely enough) also under the name "Tokyo styles" and I bought the Synthetic version, which was $199.00 plus tax and shipping, and I have NO idea WHO it is geared towards, I am guessing ANYONE, it is a 36" long dirty blonde colored wig, the Human hair version is MUCH more expensive. It was so long and beautiful that I HAD to buy it. I LOVE long hair wigs and I really do NOT care if it said to be "for" any certain ethnic group, I just have noticed how white lady wigs are mostly short and boring, and you pay MORE for that. Again, this is NOT me griping about any "race issues" I am sure many women of all colors and ethnic backrounds have made comments or videos about this strange thing about the wig industry.

Kathleen Beauchemin: The last time I purchased It Stays on Amazon I purchased 3 bottles because it was less expensive but it smells like it has a lot of alcohol in it...have you ever had this happen to you?????? Are they all like this?

midnightblackroses: Ty for this, really helpful :). So it doesn't matter if you get some tape in your hair as long as you use something to remove it? I was thinking you had to have all the tape on your skin and that then the wig would be too far forward

Christina Gomes: Why am I just finding out about this wonderful tape my issue is oily skin and sweating hot flashes ladies lol. Thank you for sharing you look amazing hair color beautiful .

Shelley Carlson: Hi Denise, I am very new to your channel (found you thru Valerie). Do you ever use a wig grip? And if not, why? Thank you so much and I love your videos.

Josh gates: Use a max hold sport scalp protector before applying and clean ur scalp first with isopropyl a child or use a bit of clay mask to remove dirt & oil. You're welcome.

LouAnn Ordile: Hi Denise! My wigs always ride up in the back. Can you use that tape in the back?

Jodi H: I am just wondering if the wigs moves when you put half tape on your hair and half on your skin. I feel like mine won’t stay on my hair. I also would like to know if that is the only place you adhere lace. Like you don’t put it on the sides near your ear? Thank you so much! Enjoy watching you!!

Clara: Great video Denise soo helpful if you go swimming can you wear a wig with tape?

KA Pirk: I tried Jon Renau Lace Let Go and it did not work for me. I sprayed, waited the time on the instructions, tried again and again and could not get the tape off my lace. I had to use isopropyl alcohol to get the tape off the lace. What a disappointment.

Rosemary Saunders: Denise, I have many non-lace front wigs. Was wondering if you think this tape would work on the hairline of those wigs for extra staying power?

Christina Gomes: Question if we heat tape with blow dryer do you think it'll stick better?

Nicole Deida: would you recommend this with the liquid adhesive? i have no hair and want to wear my wig during a 1 week vacation. im sure i will have to reapply it, but do you think if im in the water itll be ok?

Valerie NC: I haven’t tried the tape yet, so I’m glad that you showed this! Great job as always❤️

Suzanne Dawson: What is the red tape for?

Sharlene Luther: How do you Denise secure a basic cap wig? I know the options but what do you do?

Deb S: I still have bio-hair can you use a thinner tape on a cap that has a full mono top but doesn’t have a lace front? I just don’t want it to pull my hair out. I did buy this brand of tape in a thinner side and the JR easy off. But haven’t used it yet. Thanks

Giselle B: Gorgeous

Tina N: How do you attach in the very back and sides?

Hypohair: thank you :)

April Lacey: Thank you

jackie andonatos: Thank you

Julie Gogola: I meant to say that th boring short haired white lady styles are something that I CAN acheive with my own hair, sorry, I said I COULDN'T acheive it with my own hair.

Victorious Vikki: The tape is shiny,,,, I just am not talented enough to wear tape.

Raisa Fiore: Aaaaaw thank you . Ill order it
