How To Wash & Maintain Your Wigs | Lace Front| Human Hair!!

#Wigcare #Wigmaintenance #Humanhairwigs

Welcome to my Channel! If you’re new here I'm Elana, and I’ve had Alopecia Universalis for over 12 years. Over that time I learned a lot about wigs and making them look natural as possible. I love wearing my natural bald crown but I also love playing with wigs in different styles and colors, that’s why I started Vanali!

I’ve received so many questions on how I maintain my wigs, I wanted to show the most important part which is conditioning your hair! You want to use the best products to protect and nourish the hair just like you would for your own. The more you protect it the longer it will last you!

WIG CARE INSTRUCTIONS!

- Grab a medium size bowl/ container

- Dissolve Conditioner first (using a small amount of hot water & mixing with fingers to reduce clumps)

- Then add enough cold water in order to fully submerge your wig (THE WATER SHOULD NOW BE LUKEWARM TO COOL TEMP)

*IF POSSIBLE MAKE SURE THE WIG IS TANGLE FREE BEFORE SUBMERGING USING A WIDE TOOTHED COMB BOTTOM UP*

- Gently work the condition into the hair (no rubbing required)

- Allow to sit for a minimum of 30mins to an hour

- Air dry by laying it out over a towel, or on top of a wig stand overnight

Welcome back finale babes. Today we are going to get right into it. I'M going to show you guys how I wash and maintain my wigs. I will be using only conditioner and a wide toothed comb. You can use any conditioner that you prefer you like, but I really love the smell. The brand I don't panty to me is really legit and I even use it on my daughter. So whatever works on natural hair obviously will work amazing with these wigs because it is 100 % virgin hair. So I like to use a bowl. You can use any container, but really it just helps it be so much easier to manage and control when you're washing your wig, because you want to allow it to soak into that conditioner. So this wig is an HD lace and because of that it is a lot more delicate, so you definitely want to be careful whether it's HD or any lace for that matter. That way, you don't cause any unnecessary, tugging or damage. So now you'll see me just working that conditioner into the hair and again you don't have to do much. There'S no rubbing required. You just want to massage it into the hair gently, make sure you get it all over and once you do that, then you can take that wide to the comb and run it through. But I just like to dip it in and out of the water over and over, because, as you can see, that conditioner kind of stays clumped, which is why I like to mix it in that water first and loosen it up a bit again. You don't exactly have to do it that way. It just tends to be the way I do it the most. So I just wanted to show you guys, because I've had so many questions on how I maintain my wigs and it really is a big part of how long your wig will stay nice, because if you're not moisturizing the hair, it's going to get dry and dryness. Just leads to breakage and you don't want the hair kind of falling off of your lace, because that's what happens when it gets dry and crusty. So that's why you see me washing this unit before I even installed it once, especially with her curlier textures. You want to moisturize that hair, so it's ten times easier when you go to install because while the hair is damp, it's a lot better to mold it into whatever style you like. If you know you want a middle part or a side part. This is the time to do it, because then it can dry in that style and when you go and put it on the hard work is already done now with the combing. Of course, you always want to go from bottom to the top. Sorry totally got sidetracked, but bottom up, because you don't want to cause any more tangles or pushed angles down into the hair which will cause more tugging pulling damage. You guys got it, but now I'm gon na, let it sit, and I believe I let this one sit for an hour. Sometimes I let it sit overnight. It just depends how much time you have, of course, the longer the better, but look how beautiful and gorgeous this hair is. It'S sleek its conditioned and it's ready to be styled. So this is what you want to kind of achieve. Every time you wash your unit. It'S not really about rubbing it's just about moisturizing and bringing the curl pattern or whatever texture it is to life. Now is the easy part you just want to rinse it out, I'm not very picky on this part again, I still want to use a cold water, but mainly just get off any excess and chunks. It does tend to want to stick to it lay so you may have to spend a little more time on the inside of the cap for moving that next conditioner. But if you don't get it a hundred percent out, it's okay, because the conditioner won't hurt the hair. You know it's only gon na make it better, and it also smells amazing. So take your time on this part. We need to rush again. We really only have to squeeze the hair, and that would be enough. Also. A second option is going ahead and grabbing your bowl or container, and just submerging the hair in it in and out to make sure you get off any excess either way is fine. Sometimes I use a combination of both just to make sure it's nice and rinsed. This hair is beautiful. I absolutely love this unit and this was the exact unit I used in my video for my anniversary glam. I won't put that link down below. If you have not seen that, but I do plan on doing a reinstall on this wig as well, if you guys are interested in seeing that please comment down below - and I will get to that very shortly, since we all have a bunch of time during this Quarantine that nothing but time so now, I'm just taking that comb and running it through. I do this just to break up the curls and then from there you can go on to styling it, but mainly you just want to let it air dry anyway. You want to either laying it on a towel. You have a wig, stand, that's perfect and just put something down below, so it catches on that excess water. That'S it! She is washed and ready to go now. The frequency of doing this is totally up to you and how often you wear your unit. For me, this is kind of a monthly maintenance at best, because I don't wear them very often. I just want to keep them moisturized and ready to go when I need them, and this is how she looks all wet and as you see I went ahead and set my part cuz. That'S the easiest time to do it, so she is ready to go. Please let me know what you guys think. Hopefully you enjoyed this video and if you have any more questions on how I maintain my wigs units or something you would like to see next, I love love, love your guys's input, and it is so extremely helpful to me so comment. Comment. Comment well hit that like button and if you have not subscribed, go ahead and do that and I'll see you guys next time, bye,

Kool Klawz TaShyra: I found this so useful! I recently won my very first human hair unit, so I came straight to your channel for tips, with my clueless behind. I modified your technique a bit...I have a bad back and was over my limit for standing, so I had to make it quick. I put about a cup of hot water in the little tub I used, put in the conditioner and gave it a quick stir to dissolve it, then added cool water and gave it a swish. It eliminated the chunks and saved me a few minutes. I followed the rest of your steps and it worked perfectly! Thank you so much for sharing...the hair looks fantastic and I didn’t mess it up with my lack of know-how. In all, I lost a total of three strands. This tutorial was so very helpful!

imglad711: Hello, I also suffer from an autoimmune disease, with hair loss. I am so thankful to have found your channel. I applaud you for your courage to come forward and sharing your experiences. I am not sure how long you have suffered from this condition, it has been almost 12 yrs for me.. This was totally devastating for me, I know this sounds so superficial in light of what the world and others are going through. However it was completely devastating for me, I lost my self confidence, became anti social, I no longer felt like a woman. I have slowly come to accept my condition, but am not in a place where I would go outside without a head covering or wig. Your actually the first person I have left a comment for. Thank you, keep doing what your doing, you are appreciated!

Blake Basics: Thank you so much for this. You made this look easy. I feel like I can do this now

Londyn Silhouette: Currently doing this method to both of my wigs as I‘m typing this, and chile, it does WONDERS ✨ Both of my wigs looks shinier and moisturized. Plus, it smells a whole lot better!

Maddie Lyons: Wow! This is a great help. I recently started cosmetology school and am working on becoming a hairdresser! I’m overly excited!!! It’s been my dream ever since I was a child!!! We were given a small task to take care of a platinum blonde wig (without instructions) to see what we already know. I know how to brush it, and wash it but I’m looking for better and more professional ways to get that sleek shiny wig! Next step is the review, then we will have to bleach and dye it on our own !!! Then after that is the final review. Then we can finally move on to 1 of the 3 classes (Beginner, intermediate, and advanced) they determine which class your in by reviewing the completed brushed and washed wig, and also the review scores form the completed bleached and dyed wig(Pre brushed and pre washed!) !!! I’m super nervous

SB_6z: I bought a human hair wig for my mom with alopecia for her birthday and im so happy for her! I really wanna take care of it instead of her,

Aquarius: I appreciate your videos and responding to people's questions and comments, I've learned much!

Karina Somabes: Hi Elana! Great video. I got a question. How long does HD lace life last? I know the hair sheds off over time but I want to know how long does the lace itself last? I wanna know if I can use this a medical wig for over a year without tearing apart.

FranC Summer: Thank you I need to wash five lace fronts

fairyy316: I just bought a frontal cranial wig for my hair loss due to alopecia. What is the best way in taking care of it? The place I bought it from, the lady gave me instruction and her suggestions on what products to use for washing and conditioning. Anyone have any suggestions for using the right products and washing my wig? I just want to make sure I am maintaining it correctly. The video was helpful.

Cynthia G: This video is very helpful! Do you also recommend shampooing the wig during this process?

Sandra Ejims: I needed to watch this thank you. Not alot of people make this kind of videos. Just recently i got my hair, for some reason I thought to wash it before installing because of covid since it came from china and i also wanted to get rid of the smell of newness. Your video was amazing, I just washed my wig but instead put it in a bag to rinse it tomorrow, I didn’t want to leave it in a bowl of water because this uk weather might just freeze the boil and my hair alongside. So i put it in a bag, was very generous with the conditioner. Thanks for this

SincerelyChelle: Would you be able to do that with synthetic hair as well? I tend to buy synthetic wigs because I like how it looks like my hair when flat ironed! I tend to use leave in conditioner on my synthetic ends because they get ‘brittle’ in my opinion from rubbing against my clothes & stuff!

Elsie DesBoine: Thanks now I can wash my wig

Taneisha Keyonne: Is that method also beneficial for straight hair? Or is there something you would do differently? Also to straighten should I wait til it’s definitely dried?

Itose Omokh: How long does it take to dry?

Unique Flowers: Do you clean inside your wig cap when you use conditioner?

Lerato Moyo: Wow. Thank you for this. So when letting it dry on a wig stand I can just put it as I wear & not inside out? Can I let it dry in the outside in the sun or will that damage it?

Rosemarie Morgan: Very informative

Jesus is mY Savior: What's a good serum to use on frizzy wigs

Melissa Sparman: Thank you. This is very helpful and nice of you to share with us but can I ask where did you get the actual wig? Itseens to be a pretty decent piece. I noticed there wasn't any real shedding of hair. Can you please say if you don't mine? Thank and thanks again much love

SIOBHAN DEGUERIN: Excellent video!

Devina' Marie: Can you just do conditioning when you first get the wig?
